Hi guys, this is my first post.. i am a new owner of an 08 model Presara. SORRY IN ADVANCE IF THIS POST IS IN THE WRONG SECTION.

My factory sat nav unit was working fine since owning the car, and yesterday i used it to navigate from the Entrance to Ettilong Beach. It took us there no issues, but then to leave the Head Unit was telling me i was in the middle of the ocean at first. After entering in an address it said to get to the highlighted route and then it will begin (as normal), but we couldnt get to the highlighted route, as i was in the middle of the Tasman Sea. I have since tried entering new addresses and no matter what i do i cannot seem to get my current location at all. It is convinced i am in the middle of the ocean.

The just this morning i tried again, and it came up with the message "No roads possible for guidance near current position. Please refer to map."

PLEASE someone tell me if i can simply reset my Head Unit (and how) or should i be going into my local toyota dealer and ask them to look at it.

DJKOR would tell you to do a search, I myself have had similiar issues before with my satnav.

Read the instruction manual and it will explain how you can manually reset your position. If you took it to the dealer, this is all they'd do at this stage anyway (chances are it's not the problem though). I took it back to Toyota 4 times, and on the 4th time they realised the satnav GPS aerial at the back wasn't plugged in properly or something stupid. The car uses other sensors to smooth out the GPS operation when satellite reception isn't perfect/available, and will show you the closest position it can under these circumstances (does a pretty good job actually), but say should you drive on new roads that aren't on your current GPS DVD software it won't be able to cope and you'll end up getting further from you actual position.

I hope this makes sense. If it were me I'd be removing the headunit and making sure it's all plugged in correctly, but should you not feel confident enough for that take it to the dealer (and don't let them screw you around with it like they did me).

Looking at the pictures that you have uploaded, it seems that your current position was not determined by the GPS but by other sensors in the car as mentioned by Steven. If your current position was determined by GPS, it would say so by displaying "GPS" underneath the compass and "11K" on the top left hand corner of the screen (assuming your car was outdoors and not in a tunnel or a basement carpark when those pictures were taken).

As suggested by Steven, I would be checking the GPS antenna connection.... Hope you resolve the issue soon. :)

I went in and booked the car for a checkup for next Wednesday.

I did alittle digging around on the internet and some1 suggested disconnecting the battery, so i did and left it off for about 2 mins..

Connected it back up and so far so good, it works fine now.... but i only tried it out locally (ie around the block). Im about to go for a drive though, and i will test it out.

Hopefully all is good. If not i will try pulling the headunit out and seeing if there are any loose connections or something? if not i will leave it for the toyota team to check it out.

Also while they are at it, they will finally take the car out of pre delivery mode so my Toytoa Link can be activated.

Thanks for your help guys... and i will keep you posted.

Well after one trip out of my local area the unit isnt working again... i am going to take the unit out tonight and see if everything is connected as it should?

Does any1 have any idea which plug is the GPS antenna? I have taken the unit out previously to connect up a Soundlinq2 Ipod/Iphone adapter... So im thinking maybe a plug wasnt plugged in right...

If any1 can let me know so i can try and get it sorted for my trip this weekend...

Thanks in advance.
