Hey all,

We have a 2003 Camry Altise and the manual aircon light (A/C button) is now flashing. The aircon does not work but the fan does. I've brought it back to a toyota dealer and they told me that the connection between the aircon button is dodge and there is nothing they can do about it to fix it.

I was thinking perhaps the car is out of gas? Can anyone confirm this please? Thanks

i had this happen once in my 1zz corolla. i did a ECU reset and presto aircon working again!

By ECU reset you mean discconect the battery for a while huh?

Well I left it disconnect for roughly 16 hours (I forgot about it) but the problem is still there :( I suppose this means I have to go to an Aircon specialist?

you might hate my suggestion but take it to the dealer!

Might be an issue with the magnetic clutch on your A/C compressor. That's one issue that can cause the A/C light to flash. Maybe a relay issue stopping the clutch from engaging.

Definitely not caused by being out of gas though (even if it may happen to be).

Take it to a different Dealer and get a second opinion.

Mine does it sometimes after disconnecting the battery, I just switch the aircon off then back on, but yeah try disconnecting the battery.

Same in my case, I replace the relay, the flash stops and aircon starts working.

The Toyota Dealer needs a rocket, how can they say they can do nothing about it? They should be able to fix it, parts should be available even for a 2003 and what about those 'factory trained technicians' we hear so much about? :nono:

Good luck with it and merry xmas.

Had the same trouble. Dealers just kept dreaming up a number!

Does the light flash all the time? Does the light stay steady when you first start the engine - cold start, then blink?

In the under bonnet fuse box there is a relay for the aircon. Normally cream/white you can pay Toyota $75+ for a new relay, or you can go to Jaycar & buy the same relay for about $6.50!

Jaycar's part is the same rating.http://www.jaycar.com.au/productView.asp?ID=SY4045
