Hi All

Does anybody know if the suspension from a 89 hi lux cab chassis would bolt up to the suspension of the 89 4runner

or could I change the body of the 4runner onto the chassis of the hi lux

Yer mate if it's solid axle then no worries.

Had a mate who did this on an YN65 model.

Body did fit but he had to relocate several of the body/chassis mounting points

Tough Question as 1989 both Hilux and 4Runner Changed body shape.

The newer 4Runner shape with coils up back has a shorter wheel base to the Hilux. If you have the V6 4Runner, this engine will not fit in the engine bay of a solid axle hilux.

What are you try to achieve with this swap?

And don't be discouraged, with enough motivation and the right tools and of course a deep pocket, there is no reason as to why not.

The other thing to remember is that mid way through 89 Toyota change model designations and spec's.

Prior Aug 89, YN 63 4Runner sr5 moved over to Surfs hence when ordering parts you have to give your vin number.

Also if you speak with the Toyota boys and get a look at their computors you will find that parts for many Hilux's are also the same for the 4Runners. The SR5 represents "Sports Rally Pack & a 5 speed this only is for pre mid 89s and not the Surf's.
