Hello, Guys.

I'm new, I own a 2004 (face-lifted) Levin. All Stock. I've got some questions.

With the stereo I have a Mp3 6 in dash changer, if i was to change the face of the stereo would it be possible to keep the 6 dash stacker, or does that only stay were the toyota head unit goes?

Because its indash, I was thinking if you change the systems head unit, you loose the stacker with it.

Also, I know there are alot of topics on changing the console lights, but this is my only gripe with the car. I've read all the posts about this both here and at toyotanation, and i'm still trying to figure out which is the best way to do it.

Should i paint the bulbs red with nail polish? or get red sleeves, or change the bulbs alltogether? I'm a complete beginner when it comes to this stuff, so i doubt i'll do it on my own.

Will a toyota dealer change the lights for me? if so will they charge an extrodinary price for it?

Will changing the lights on my own void my warrenty?

Could anyone post pictures of there lighting changes? I know there have been some posted.

Also, the stereo head unit, is it possible to change the light of that?

Thanks alot. Sorry if these are just repeated questions.

the in-dash stacker and headunit are one and the same. ie the sacker is part of the head unit, you take the head unit out, the stacker goes... sorry

I suspected as much. It was unlikly that you could just put your own head unit and use the stacker.

But oh well.

Theres nothing wrong with the stock stereo, its just the green that bothers me.

I could be dubbed as a bitch for complaining because i've got a new car, and i'm bitching about the colour of the lights.

But i duno, green! come on!!

Well my levin Speedo lights, are white with red dials.

So i guess, i would love to change the console to red, along with the stereo.

changing them to red is easy... changing them to blue is the hard part.

Why, whats the difference? Also, is changing the stereo head unit light easy?

The difference is the sleeves used to cover the globes. The red ones work better than the blue ones.

The headunit light, i don't think you'd be able to change that. No one here has anyway. Maybe an electrical repairer could bust the thing open and see whats going on inside.:unsure::unsure:

I'm not sure if i want to risk that, but as for the console lights is it easier to get the red sleeves or paint the globe?

The corolla2003.org website is down, so i'm trying to find another step by step guide to opening the console up.

red sleeves will do the trick. get the narva t-5's... which are the 5mm ones.

Thanks mate, does it matter that that guide is for the sportivo's? or does it all work the same?

Also have you changed your lights?

yeah its the same thing to remove the console. except out cars use less sleeves coz there are less bulbs, thats all. i think u'll need around a good 2 packets (of 5 each) if i remember correctly.

yeah, i have changed mine. the blue sleeves make it turn out like an aqua colour, rather than a bright blue. red sure does look good though ;)

Do you have any pics of what yours look like? Id love to see what blue looks like compared to the levin speedo lights, unless yours are different to mine?

couple of pics on there from earlier threads.  ;)

Looks good, just not too bright.. Still is way better than the green. What possessed them!!

If you just take the green sleeves off will they be white?

nah i dun think they will be... someone said they'l be an orangy colour... im not too sure.

yep, it's much better than the ugly original green. :D :P ;)

i'm so ****** off that they would choose green. Whats wrong with them.

Anyway, thanks for all your help. I'm still not sure whether i'll do it on my own. Knowing my luck, i'll complete ruin my car.

Do you think a machanic will help me get the console open? lol.

I dont know, when i do it, i'll post pics.

I've got one more question, with the guide that u sent me.

I stop at step 10 which is removing the console, and dont bother removing the head unit correct?

There would be no point to it?

yep, no need to remove headunit... just the console that surrounds it, so u can pull off the main console (one with dial buttons).

Ok, on my first attempt at getting the console out, i failed..

i took out the ashtray and the aircon stuff, and tried to pull it out, but something was sticking it, i found a screw underneath one of the dials, but that still didnt help pull the console out..

so i have no idea what was keeping it from coming out
