Hi guys,

just a update for my ride, new shoes.

I ended up getting the OZ crono HT in 17"

Actually i was looking for 18", but couldn't find any localy that suits my eyes like these 17".

So why bugger the 18" if i can have these sweet 17"

Very nice, I had a set of these on my old Celica before I crashed it, I love these wheels!

Width of the wheel is very important when choosing the tyre, so you better find out before you get tyres!

7.5'' may get scrubbing. search around i think someone put 7.5'' on. mines 7'' and they are fine. the 7'' also make the rim flush to the guards.

Hang on, hang on, hang on....I assume the comment about the 7" rim being flush to the guards has respect to the offset? Because we must all remember that offset plays a huge part in whether the wheels are "flush" or not. With regards to scrubbing, lowering also has a significant effect...

My research indicates that (in Australia at least) the Chrono 17s are 17x7", with a +37 offset. Tyre choice will depend on your original tyre size. Can you give us the low down on what your tyre placard says is the standard tyre size? On the Corolla Sportivo, standard diameter is 620, 205/40 is 595, 205/45 is 616, 215/40 is 605, 215/45 is 626.

What do you guys mean by "flush"??

And wheels are 7.5" width with a 38 offset.

I was leaning towards 215/40.

overall diameter is not really my headache, because mostly I modify my car for the looks.

Do you guys think it will scrub the fenders if i go with 17x7.5" ET38 wheels and 215/40 tires?

"Flush" is a reference to whether the outside of the tyres/wheels line up perfectly with the outer line of the bodywork (wheel arches). I have attached a photo of my previous setup, where if you look closely, the wheels sit just inside the arches, making them not quite flush but pretty good.

We need to know what original tyre size and what original wheel width you have to make a call on scrubbing or not. A lot of guys have turned to 215/40 R17 tyres on their Sportivo because of the lower overall diameter (605, as I mentioned before, compared to the standard 620), as they don't scrub on lowered Sportivos.

I would suggest that you are adding at least 1.5" to the wheel width, and probably at least 20mm to the tyre width. With a lowered car, that will mean some scrubbing. With a car at standard height, perhaps not. It's very much an individual application thing. Assuming your standard rims are 6" wide and a +45 offset (which they are likely to be), that means that the Crono's will give you 12mm less clearance on the inside of the guard, and the outside of the wheels will be 26mm further out.

Thanks for the info. really useful :)

To be honest, I don't exactly know the specs of the stock wheels.

When I bought the car their where already aftermarket rims on it.

But I assume that they were the standard 16" sportivo wheels, with 195/55/16 tires.

I ended up getting Sunny tires.

Locally i couldn't find any other tires of 215/40

I also am on a budget, so the Sunny will do the job for me..

Thanks guys..

I think I need to lower the car a bit more..

Now I have Apex springs on them; 35mm lowered.

What options do I have to lower the car a bit more?

Other springs or cut these Apex a lil bit??

No cutting springs... :nono:

Over here a company called Kings make a spring call "Superlow" which is a 50mm drop. Not sure about over your way. Other than that, I think the only other way to go lower is stump up the cash for coilovers.

and yes, I see a lot of you guys use the superlows.

can't find them here though.

so i'll consider a while what i'll be doing.

Ive got two sets of suspension Cusco Adjustables and RS-R coilovers, with the RS-R coilovers the springs have been cut I only use them for when im taking photos of the car, and my cusco adjustables are all legit Ive had the bottom rings machined so that the springs sit even lower on the strut.
