Recommended Posts

Hey guys,

Been wanting to get some custom rims for the aurion for a while, but havent found anything

im 100% pleased with....so i need your help..

Below is the LWT Osaka Mannus, which i like to a certain extent.

post-15150-0-54692700-1307343580_thumb.j

What do you think? Would they look good on a Carribean Blue Aurion SX6?

post-15150-0-13229700-1307343591_thumb.j

Also I was really happy with these, post-15150-0-75722300-1307344075_thumb.j

but my toyota service centre and the guys

at beaurepairs said, they wont fit because they only come in 20"s although i have

seen 20"s on aurions on here??? (shrugs)

they said choose a design that comes in 18" max and come back.....

so please tell me what you think of the Osaka Mannus wheels, or any other suggestions you have...THANK YOU!

20s are fine on an Aurion, just make sure you choose the right offset or else it will scrub if you are gonna lower it.,

Of the 2 wheel choices i'd go the Osaka, just looks better but then they are a very common wheel on lots of cars.

I had the Osaka Mannus (18's) on my old 2003 Ravy - they were okay, got sick of them after a while though; IMHO the bottom ones are better. Don't think the Osaka Mannus will suit that well for your Blue Aurion.. but hey that's my opinion. If you like them, go for it :)

dont listen to what beaurepairs say. The wheels on my car width size are nearly double than stock. but then again dont listen to me either ahha

however...........

i like the bottom one better, though my mate has the top one in 17x7 for sale and he will let them go for really really cheap if you really want them. gutter rash evident though. but like i said he will let them go for very very very cheap. PM me

Thanks guys for your replies,

Yeah i really like the Koya Rex Wheels too....

and yes osaka mannus is quite common, i see them around alot...

and i think they suit like VY commonwhores...as the Aurion is

a more curvy and masculine car, and these wheels are more more

plain and sharp looking...if you get what i mean!

So what offset should i get for the aurion?, (i am planning to

lower it.....at some point in time)

and also whats a good width to get the rims in?

Also what type of tyres do you recommend i should wrap them in?

ive heard TOYO are noisy??

Oh and also will getting 20"s stuff up the accuracy of my speedo?

Will i be going faster than what its telling me?

Alot of questions i know...sorry...not the biggest expert on cars!

Just reply if you got a chance..THANKS :)

Damn only i prefer the osakas, oh well.

I've got +44 offset only coz its bagged and needs a higher offset to drop lower.

Haven't tried too many tyres to know but definitely DON'T get Nangkang, noisey as.

Shouldn't upset your speedo as long as your tyre profile isn't more than 35.

Hope this helps and can't wait to see this car in the members rides thread.

20 inch will fit and will look great. the only thing is cops and Insurance companies may not like it.

Id say go for the Osaka Wheels, ive seen them on a few cars, they look great at night.....

On the score of the Toyo's I have had Toyo Proxes 235/50x17s on a Falcon and they were IMHO a reasonable all round good package.

Depending on the performance you require most tyre companies offer specific tyres to suit your driving style so the noise thing will come down sometimes to the model of tyre you choose. The depth of sidewall will also affect road noise levels as there will be less of the wall to flex and absorb the imperfections in the road surface.

As for the rim size the link below gives a guide to the wheel V tyre profile and width to enable you to choose a tyre size which will not adversely affect the speedo

http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html

Now to the rims - I like the REX. Too many cars have rims like the Osakas

But that all comes to personal taste

Toyo T1R's are smooth and quiet...and as for your wheel choice i reckon you can do better, those Osaka's have been done to death and are so bogan :P

my advise is take your time and search til your fingers bleed, wheels are what sets the tone for the whole look of the car, don't buy something quickly and then a month or so later start having regrets, this happened to me and it was an exspensive mistake.

anyway good luck mate,it's one of the hardest mod decisions to make, just ask Juvenile

Cheers

  • 2 weeks later...

Ok guys its been decided! I put a deposit on some wheels. Zumbo Ramo 20" Gloss black, machined face, with falken tyres. looks slightly different to the rex but nearly the same...I liked the osakas but yeah i saw them about 4/5 times on my way to the tyre shop and each tyre shop had them in different colours and brand names.

anyway getting them fitted on monday! cant wait! will post pics when i get them.

:)
