hey guys well I got a 2003 sportivo and a couple days ago me and my mate were tryna figure out where the squeak from my clutch was coming from. We found a page on TOC which told us to spray point B with lubricant in this photo http://www.talon747.plus.com/y.jpg .

We also tried pulling back the rubber at point A and spraying that.

After the car wouldnt start this morning I called him up to ask what he did, so I can backtrack and hopefully fix it. Well..according to him he poured oil into point B that f***ing a**hole. So would that be the cause as to why my engine wont start? or would it be something else?

is it cranking? any sounds when u turn the key? clutch shouldn't cause a car to not start unless ur stuck in gear and cant get out of it.

and umm... u pulled the rubber out and sprayed oil inside? i hope u didnt because now u are going to get a slipping clutch due to oil on the face of the clutch and flywheel... A BIG NO NO!

as with the squeaking i get that from the clutch assy INSIDE the car so i spray abit of WD40 on the springs and joints and that works out OK

i havent got my car here atm to quickly look but that looks like where the clutch is... no i sprayed it INSIDE the car where u step on the pedals. the links there maybe arent lubricated enough. it also happens in colder weather. its nothing to worry about.

what u should worry about is that the clutch maybe now slipping because u have sprayed it in point A inthe pic...

what is the link for that picture? the whole thread

Battery is failing..Or the terminals & Clamps on top of your battery need cleaning.Also check your leads to starter and earth(car body) for loose or crappy connection. The clicking noise is your starter trying to crank the engine but doesnt have enough power being feed to it to do so.

okay new problem, engine aint cranking. just a really fast clicking noise..

and my bad, when i looked at the pic again i see its pointing to the rubber OUTSIDE not the rubber thats attached to the gear box. so yea its alright to spray lub there, but in the other rubber bit thats where the clutch and flywheel meet, dont spray it in there lol.

you've flattened the battery. Charge the battery or jump start the car, and check all the EFI fuses/relays before continually cranking the car again.

Did you get the car to start? Some batteries need water in them too so if your battery is like this then pop the caps off and check how much waters in them - obviously after you disconnect it from the terminals.

Before anyone gets misinformed by the information you have provided and start to fill their batteries with tap water, I will add some input here.

Most (non 'maintenance-free') lead-acid batteries used in cars have an electrolyte in them which over time, can have water lost from it due to electrolysis during charging or from evaporation. In those cases, you need to top up the cells (6 of them with one cap at the top of each) with distilled water. You can do this with the battery still connected and you do so by removing the caps and inspecting the level of the electrolyte in each cell and topping up as necessary. You want the electrolyte to be above the metal plates in each cell by at least a few millimetres. I tend to top it up to about an inch below the top of the battery (where the water makes an 'eye' shape for those that know what I mean), but this isn't exactly necessary. Also, some batteries have a mark on the outside indicating where the electrolyte level should be when full, so that may give you a good idea of how high to top the fluid up to.

Bear in mind that topping up a flat battery is not simply going to bring it back to life. If it needs a charge... it needs a charge.

Sorry, and yes distilled water. I should have added that.

If your car's working after the jumpstart and is still dying on you get the alternator checked out.

not to dispute what Daryl is saying, because he is 100% correct - however out of desperation I did top up the water levels in the battery once which weren't that low at all and the car did come back to life... :P Obviously the fault was the battery gained enough charge back to only JUST be able to start, BUT just wanted u to know that it has happened at least once in the history of man LOL!
