They were $250 a tyre and $275 a wheel

So overall they cost $2100

I didnt shop around cuz I work full time but I think that was a fair price.

I could have got them for $1800 with Nankang tyres and a little bit more with Hancooks, but I didnt want to go cheap on tyres.

As far as I understand, the wheels wont scrub, but I guess I'll find out tmoz.

Next on my list is suspension.

Cool, exept from the number of spokes they look 100% like my rims from AEZ. Really, its almost like they are made in the same factory, the form of the spoke, the way the spoke connects to the outer edge of the weel. It's identical ...

thats the next step. Im waiting on the driveway at work to get repaired so i can get up it. So I think thats gona happen in the next month or so. So the car will look like a bus for a little while longer.

Funny, mine are also special lightweight. But payed A LOT less then you. 1275€ including Falken 415's in 225/40/18 mounted and balanced and fitted to the car.

They wont scrub! This size tyre is the correct one for the job. If you punch the specs of the stock rubber into a tyre calculator you will find that 225/35/18 is the closest match in rolling circumference without going over. I have the exact same tyres, nice boots for the money!

Alot of guys tried to talk me into a 215/35/18 but its way off for rolling circumference and too narrow across the rim, tyre gutter protector doesnt even come into play as the tyres are 'pulled' across the rim.

That looks just like mine after I had the rims fitted. Personally if you want a decent look without sacrificing too much ride quality go with King lows (not superlows).

On superlows mine was sitting on the bumpstops.

Unless of course your going all out and fitting adjustables!

Both 225/35 and 225/40 should be legal, they both are less then 1% of the original size. But the 40's will give you plenty more comfort.

The 215/35's would be killer from a standpoint of looks but not so fun if comfort is important. It being stretched poses no problem at al and the wheel protectors are BS anyway. You schould see what gets stretched over rims in europe. a 195 on a 7.5 or 8" rim is no exeption. Looks awsome !!!

The verdict

Still a very comfortable ride, only maybe 20% firmer, no scrubing and i reckon 235 tyres wuld fit without any issues.

Much more punchier take off thanks thanks to light weight wheels. Thanks to Falken, they also stick to the road like flies to ****.

Overall, I love my new wheels,

If you going to drop it, 225/40/18 will definitely scrub, especially the rear arc. even after rolling the cutter. Mine i had to get it replace by 215/35/18 as none of the mention above could solve.

      FUEL WARNING MESSAGE

      On my 2002 Prado, the fuel transfer pump has a fuel filter which can block, causing increasingly less fuel transfer between the tanks. It may be the same for the Cruiser too. I have not yet had an issue with mine even at 250000km, but that is low mileage for a 2002 Prado. I hope that you have a filter that can be easily replaced. It could save you a pump replacement.

      2002 Hilux Engine Replacement

      Unless you can identify which engine your Hilux has now, you may be better off finding a good 5LE engine and return it to stock. Nice to have a Turbo diesel though. Have you tried taking a photo of the engine and posting it so others can advise what engine you have. It may be better to have your engine overhauled. If you can locate the engine number (should be on the registration papers if the engine swap was done legit), you might be able to ID the engine that way too. Do you know why the engine seized? It may be possible to overhaul your engine cheaper than replacing it.

      Transmission clunk

      Hi all, Recently completed a long drive. Check engine light came on, traction control off light came on, unable to use cruise control. Pulled immediately over all oil level were good and no leaks. then when accelerating through the gears ( automatic Prado ) hearing and feeling a clunk on each gear ( like it was hard to select). Prado is unable to go into 5th & 6th gear. Maxed out in 4th gear at 90km/h @ 2500rpm. Later in the drive DPF light came on though I have a July 2015 build. DPF introduced in October 2015 that I am aware off. Any ideas at all would be grateful!

      Yaris Cross roof rack

      Hi all, I’m looking at purchasing a Yaris Cross GXL however I can’t seem to find any official roof rack for the car On the Toyota website it doesn’t show a roof rack protruding like the Corolla Cross GXL I know you can get roof racks that slide under the door however I don’t see any official listing Interestingly enough Toyota offer an official bike rack for the Yaris, Corolla hatch etc but not the Yaris Cross Rhino-Rack offer a third party roof rack for the “TOYOTA Yaris Cross Gen1 5dr SUV Bare Roof” but I’m a bit hesitant to use a 3rd party roof rack on a brand new car. Do you know if this would cause any warranty issues etc? Another option would be to get a Corolla Cross GXL. However the Yaris Cross would be perfect if it could have a roof rack as I don’t need the extra size, engine and price point of the Corolla Cross. Happy to hear your thoughts

      FUEL WARNING MESSAGE

      I've just got a price from Toyota up here in QLD for the whole replacement unit... (OUCH!!!! 😭) I would share more information on my investigation so far, but apparently, I am a spam bot and can upload pictures, but not write the story to go with it.... without being pulled up for it...... I can tell you that I am getting no suction on what I believe is the fuel line from the sub to main tank. I am however getting 13v on the fuel pump connection. It comes on for a moment before going off. I'm guessing because of this error. Perhaps the rail stops delivering power..... My next step is to apply 12v to the pump and see if I can hear it in the tank making any noise. Surely, I'd be able to hear something with the car not running - if it is working?

      Hilux 2.7 1998 has knock in motor

      A recently purchased 2.7 hilux seemed okay, but when started up (warm) a clunk happened then a loud knock started. The coolant drained out, perhaps into the engine, but being unfamiliar with the vehicle I am unsure what has happened. Any suggestions and possible remedies would be appreciated. Higgyboys

      2017 Kluger AWD. Noise in Cabin - Bearing/Diff. Not Sure.

      Chiming in from the States here, I have a question. I am assuming your Kluger's have the same UA80 transmission as we do? When you say the transfer case was replaced, was it the physical "transfer case" or the transmission? We have similar issues here where the UA80 starts "whining" needing a complete transmission replacement.
