Gday folks, just curious to know i have just bought a 1990 Hilux SR5 2.8L Manual

Just curious to know if people think I have been ripped off and should have backed out or what their thoughts would be, as i cant exactly afford any other decent hilux that i could find

Its grey in colour wit

Got 365 000km on the clock but had a rebuild 110 000km ago due to a previous owner strapping a turbo on and winding up the boost too much

Snorkel

32" Muddies

Lifted with shackles and shocks

Extractors

2.5" cat back system with muffler and hot dog

Bullbar

Driving lights

CD player

Towbar

Aftermarket Steering wheel

It however does have some flaws:

Rust around bottom of doors

bit of rust in one of the doors and bottom corner of w/screen

paint faded on roof and bonnet

A/C not getting power to compressor

Steering box oil leak

door trims not seating correctly

bottom hinge on drivers door worn

a couple of small dints and scratches here and there

Yes i understand it is 20+ year old but with these flaws and the other good things, the motor sounds and drives fine, tranny, transfer, diffs all seem to perform effortlessly and also no wheel bearing noises heard.

Just after some feedback to see what people think & would expect to pay for one of these

Cheers!

Yep, im convinced, ripped off coz now the thing wont start.

Did replace glow plugs thinking that was it as #1 was faulty but still no good

removed the fuel feed to the fuel pump hose and no fuel came out and also tried manual bleeding the but again no fuel even coming out from fuel filter.

Does anyone know what i can look at to why it is doing this??

Fuel pump and filter are the first things I would be checking. Getting fuel up to the injector is the first step, being a non-common rail you can still crack the lines at the injectors.

Is that the manual pump that the filter mounts to? or does the injector pump act as the pump by suckin it through?

It may have an in tank pump as well as the VE pump on the engine, been a long time since I've touched a Hilux fuel system. Either way you need to see if the injectors are getting fuel, if not, work backwards from there. If there is fuel getting to them then they may need a re-condition or replace.
