First of all, sorry if I am posting in the wrong section or asking about an already discussed topic - I am new here and just looking for straight forward help.

Okay so, I am looking to replace my stock Toyota head unit (double din) with a Kenwood DPX-U6120.

I have looked around on the internet on how to get my head unit out, but I can never find my specific one.

So I have two questions:

1. How do I remove my current head unit from my 2008 Corolla ZRE152R Ascent Hatch? (if there is already a topic or post on this please just link me to it)

2. And will my new double din head unit fit straight into the gap without any specific pockets or modifications?

here is a link to the head unit I am looking at: http://au.kenwood.co...ivers/DPX-U6120

And an image of my current head unit is attached:

Thank you very much :) And again, sorry if im in the wrong section or posting about an already discussed topic.

your going to have to remove a coupe of panels to get the head unit out. first two panels are the 2 silver panels on either side of the head unit, you need to pull those out as they are clipped in pretty firm, then you will need to pop the top air vent/tray off and then remove the fascia around the head unit, there is 4 10mm bolts that hold the head unit in, take those bolts out and the unit should come out.

as for the kenwood unit, you may need the double din side "ears" kit to cover up the sides as OEM unit is an odd size, im pretty sure you can find the fascia kit on ebay.

okay thanks man! ill look into the facia kit. also, i read somewhere something about the curved corners of the OEM head unit, and double dins not fitting into it.. is this actually a problem? and would the facia kit fix this?

yea the fascia should fix up the curves, it just covers the gap between the head unit and the surrounding plate

head unit just arrived. its dimensions are 178.0 x 100.0 x 155.0 mm (WxHxD)

i will take it into to autobarn tomorrow to see if it needs a fascia kit. hopefully not though :)
