Sportivo target of thieves?

Recommended Posts

Just read the TTR article at carsguide.com.au. Look at the bottom of the article, in the last 3 paragraphs.

He also revealed that certain people have a thing about the Celica-engined Corolla Sportivo – a spate of thefts in NSW has shown thieves have an interest in the hatchback.

“We know it's a cult car when it starts getting popular with thieves,” he said. “Thieves have to overcome an immobiliser, special ignition locks, an engine-management system that thwarts theft, and the door switches – but they're doing it.”

Toyota is looking at more sophisticated anti-theft methods.

Here's the full article for those who are interested.

I had my first brush with theft today.

My car was parked outside my work in Richmond and some hoons stole one of my only mods leaving my car stock albeit my TRD Seatbelt Covers.

They took my set of Chrome Tyre Valve caps. f&^%^ c*&%. Theres another $4 down the drain.

:) :rolleyes::rolleyes:

celica-engined corolla? makes you think a celica is better than a corolla.

the corolla stands on its own. you could say corolla-engined celica. the engine is identical 2zz.

nope they got it right :lol:

hahah celica-engined corolla :D

But makes you think IF they can do this to the sportivo then perhaps theft with celicas isnt too much of an issue either? :blink:

This is the first Ive heard of the Thefts though..

(OT)

Spotted BLACK Sportivo running down M4 Eastboun with TRD badge where toyota badge should have been on the rear.

Spotted BLACK sportivo plates SC...? on M4 as well same day.
