My 141,168 Oil Service

G'day Everyone,

I managed to get the oil service done yesterday despite my hectic life at this time.
The last oil service was done at 134,034, so this one is 7,114 KLMs later.

Wifey got home after running around and so I ripped into it some 20 minutes later. Oil was still relatively warm.
I drained the sump, with the car about half way up, then I fully jacked it up to catch the residual oil that likes to sit in the more flatter planes of the engine. You'd be surprised how much extra you can pull out. You'll need a large floor jack to be able to get that high.

Then came my arch nemesis, the oil filter housing... It came off ok, with the aid of a breaker bar and my trusty OMIK housing removal tool. Then I set to work prepping everything.

Nulon Fully Synthetic doing a great job keeping the sludge away. No foreign material in the filter either, Just a healthy glow from used oil.

Gave the housing a bath with Brake Cleaner, replaced the O-Rings, Installed new Genuine Filter Cartridge, primed it with Nulon oil and installed.

Wiped up sump drain hole, installed plug and filled her up with Nulon 5W-30 Fully Synthetic goodness. Happy Days !

 

Job done, ticked off the long list of to do things.

Cleaned up and gave the headlights another machine polish as they were starting to look a little sad again. I didn't get any photos of that part. Sorry guys, I forgot.

Appreciate the photo of the used oil filter cartridge. Handy to have as a benchmark.

Mine always has a fair bit of sludge particles.

Too much short distance driving so the oil hardly gets up to operating temperature.
