Hi guys,

I was wondering if anyone can help me out. Whilst driving home last night, i was egged by someone on the road. I was quite angry about the whole ordeal  . The egg hit my bonnet and I was driving about about 80kms..When i got home to clean the crap off, i found a scratch on my bonnet from that damn egg. I can prob put some touch up paint but then there is going to be a blob on top of that scratch and it will look quite F@#ed up.. So any ideas as to what i can do? N also not costing me a bomb to get it fixed???

Thanks in advance guys.

How big is the scratch? If its a little, i suggest u go and use your touch up. Use toothpick and just line it lightly. Do a few layer. Each time u did a layer, let it dry 1st then do another layer. U can use hair blower to dry it, if its a warm day then let it dry naturally.

If the scracth is not a deep scratch and there is no chip off the paint, then the best thing to do is get cut and polish and polish it up. Try mcGuires product. They're the best.

:D

I had my car fixed a few months back by the council cause one of their workers put a lovely dent in the front side panel next to the bonnet

:angry: To respray the bonnet & panel and fix the damage which wasnt huge - about a golf ball (u have to spray the bonnet to blend the colour in so the panel doesnt stand out) was going to cost about 750 i think it was :( :( . luckily they paid 4 everything :D :D I think the price for fixing it without spraying the bonnet was like $300 so my maths would say ur looking at $400+ to just spray the bonnet. You might wana also thing about what effect thats going to have on the rest of the car as the bonnet might look out of place ??? Sorry to be a sour grape but you should get all this stuff answered by the panel beaters. I guess also shop around but if the damage is only small the guys will laugh at u

If it's just a very small scratch, Turtle Wax do a really good coloured liquid polish, with a coloured wax pencil thing attached for filling in the scratch before polishing, its available in K-Mart for about $18.00 and comes in about eight base colours.

It works well I've used it heaps on small scratches.

ive tried the turtle wax product and though it was the worst $18 dollars i ever spent.

and its only a temp fix.

But hey, i am inpatient and didnt really follow the instrusctions.

If you say its good dekota i may give it another wirl, any tips?

Thanks guys...

After further inspection the following day, I don't think a cut n polish will do the trick...there are lil chip marks everywhere surrounding it..n i can see the undercoat of the paint...(quite bad ain't it??)

I think i may require a specialist to detail the car back to normal which is prob going to cost me some $$$..not to happy about it but what can you do eh?? ;)

If only i can attach a pic here to show you guys what trouble my car is in...:blink:

Once again, thanks for the help and support dudes..

No worries J@SE, just tell us who did it and we'll bring a tray of eggs each, I've never seen a human sized omelette before, have you?

Pecker, I think the trick is to warm the paint stick before you use it ( just a bit) otherwise I reckon its too hard to use cold. Once youve got the scratch filled let it cool a bit before gently polishing.

I've only used it on solid base colours, I was told it works better on them than metallics.

was told by the guys at repco about the turtle wax product with the chip stick that its best to perform several application over a period of time. Also was told 2 not just wax the part thats damadged but to do the whole car as over time the part thats being waxed may look different than the rest of the car.

Just wat he was telln me

cheers
