Hi Guys,

Just spoke to someone at the Department of Transport and Regional Services. And asked some questions regarding our beloved s'tivo. He is going to get back to me about any investigation or recall. But as yet there is NO recall as he indicated he was in the recall's dept and he hadnt heard anything yet.

Spoke to toyota again before i rang them and again the official word is there is an investigation happening. They cannot tell me what is being investigated  . Toyota decided to pull the sales of the vehicle at the moment. But its OK to drive the car. Thats all they can tell me.

Cheers

Bill

p.s. yes i am a very thorough person ;) ;)

They can't have "pulled the sales" - there's still an '04 sitting in Northpoint Toyota for sale.

They may have not supplied any new ones to dealers however.

Hi Guys,

I have managed to speak directly with the guy handling the investigation. A lot of the stuff you guys have indicated e.g. not enough power, selector cables, intake faulty etc etc is not what is being investigated.

These guys only investigate things which can potentially cause injury. NO it is not serious ... well i dont think it is. I actually think its pretty petty for all this fuss but anyway they said the rules are black and white and if u step into the black then they need to deal with it.

Anyway they know who i am and have my contact details and they were very very very surprised i managed to source his name and contact details (i told u all i was very thorough ;) ;) ) Anyway their invesitgation is not complete and negotiations or something is happening with toyota as such he has asked me to treat this with discretion. Oh by the way i was putting words into his mouth and he was saying yes or no otherwise he wasnt saying a single thing.

I found it pretty fun that he questioned how we found out about such an investigation. I told him if a manufactorer stops releasing there car and the car disappears of their website sorry but consumers arent that dumb they will know something is going on. He wasnt to happy that stuff had leaked from toyota.

Now seeing as though they are a government body and they know who i am and have asked me to give this issue some discreation then i think i will keep this 1 to myself. Sorry guys.

He suggested to all those concerned, as i told him i was a member of a forum which had like 50 s'tivo owners who are concerned about this, that we wait a few week (a month or 2) and then contact toyota directly. By then he said they should be finished and toyota should have answers.

Cheers

Bill

Fair enough :( but if you say it's a minor issue then that eases worries. Damn! i was so hoping for that extra 10Kw hahaha :D

:o wow. great work xoom, id hate to ever get on your bad side ;)

i was kind of hoping it would be because of some problem we have already mentioned, so the rattles etc can get fixed.

Great job xoom! Thanks for being the voice for us here at ATOC! Look forward to hearing more. Definitely the most anticipated thread on this forum at the moment.

Lol........well currently toyota is on my bad side <_< <_< so im trying all out to get resolution ;) ;)

My only concern is what they are going to do to fix it as i have unichipped the beast so if i have 2 rip it off n then re-tune it after they are done im not going to be happy but hey wat can i do.

So to every1 i would hold off at the moment if ur thinking about modding ur ride... whats a few weeks wait going to hurt to get this sorted before u mod the car. This is my advise to u all.

Cheers
