Guys,

Has anyone experienced any issues with the first gear of a stivo. The funny thing is all gears shift fine etc, however when your rolling and try to put it on first (whilst still holding clutch down), its heaps hard to put it in. I dunno if this is a factory standard (the inability to put the gear in first while driving), however in all the cars i've driven, i haven't had this problem.

Cheers

check here

and here

general consensus is dont chuck it in first unless its pretty much complete standstill... or give it a rev and it will slot in.

most modern gboxes lock out first if there is any momentum on the car

my stivo goes into first gear, if u double clutch as 1ZZ-FE said, or u can sometimes get it in if u heal and toe... sometimes it goes in much easier than other times, but its definatly possible to do so

I've found that a quick tap on the gas makes it slide right in... just enough to take it to ~ what revs it should be doing in first at ~ that speed... so, rev matching it.

yah...give it a small rev, but not too high would let you get into the first gear. but i don't do it offen, don't really see the point, unless you are coming to a complete stop, and it turn to green at the same moment...but the chance is rare......stupid traffic light..haha :)

Thanks for the input guys.....

i thought i was the only one having this issue. I guess this should be a preventative from me burning my clutch from clutch breaking.
