wats different,

when i went to buy the 2zz engine, i pluged in my celica ecu, and started up fine

wat could be different?

cheers

Ask northy,

but from what i hear, the celica has a secondary ecu but the corolla;s 2zz doesn't.

wat do u mean by that?

Posted

The celica ECU has an extra chip inside that the corolla one does not.

Dude, i'm not cussing you but are u chinese? I can try post it in chinese if u need to

Posted

man, you sound like the americans

all they want is full spelling of a word and comas and paragraphs

and i can't be bothered writing full words.

no im not chinese. why do you say that?

its all been covered before, check the link in my sig.

basically the celica has a 2nd ECU (body computer) that takes care of some of the things that our ECU does. the looms in the celica and corolla cars are diff to reflect the ECU's in the cars.

hey guys a little of topic but related will this be able to match a stivo SAFC

it has a listing for the 2zz but that would be jap ecu? just want to get a decent fuel/air mix with CAI

did u changed the knock sensor to are single wire?

i think we just used a single wire, i would have to go back through all the install notes i have.

Posted

according to the US guys power fc wont work with the 2 wire knock sensor, so they just change it over to are single wire and use are knock sensor from the 99-01 celica

Posted

well i know that we didn't change any of the knock sensors and i know they work cause i can see the knock reading on the PFC Commander.

Posted

since u got the power fc working, have ever considered trying the celica ecu and dynoed it back to back, and drivability differences?

Posted

the celica ECU would be no diff to the stock one i would imagine so i really cant see the point....?

Posted

i think that is for the US models, as far as i know the Aus delivered ones carry the same as the sportivo.

Posted

since you are putting this PFC in for the 2zz you have in a Spyder, i am thinking you are going to have some difficulties, because basically you are trying to match up a Celica GTS ECU (2zz) with a car built on a 1zz ECU, so i just wouldnt be expecting some electronics to be working maybe...

to try and get the best compatability going you are going to need an Aus Spec 2zz (Celica or Stivo, whichever one you got your engine from), MR-S and Celica GTS ECU "pinout". I know some guys in the US have done this conversion, but i am not sure whether they were using the PFC and it is hard to get info on Aus Spec ECUs...

Posted

the engines are the same, the only diff is the throttle assembly, on the celica is come straigh out from the intake manifold where the corolla is on a 45deg bend.

Posted

my conversion is finished, im using the celica ecu, car runs fine, goes hard and bloody loud

all electrics work,

things to do are

1. get the 6 speed

2. get power fc

only thing stopping me is the funds

but the main question is, is there alot of wiring done for the pfc to work?

cheers

the intake manifold between the stivo and the celica is different.

that must be the 1kw difference of the Stivo ;) :P (141kw for stivo, 140kw for celica)
