Well when i got mine... none of their brackets fit at all in the corolla.. one was close to fit but still had some movement. (i wasnt goin to take the risk). If u really are goin to get this batt. i can give u the measurements of the extension bracket ces made for me and u get get someone to make it for u ;) should cost u no more than $5

I guess any exhaust/muffler garage will have the tools and material needed

Theres no need to DIY, the material is just a piece of metal and like 5-10mintues of labor so it shouldnt cost much at all. Oh make sure they give it a coat of paint to prevent rust :) The guy at ces made only 2 spot wields on each end so its reversible if i want to go back to stock size batt.

The measurements are:

4.5cm high

13cm long

2.5 thick/width of the piece of metal.

If u show them my pic they'll whip one up in no time :)

and keep the original plastic tray at the bottom. clamp it down nice n tight and it shouldn't move at all.

Good luck with it, and dont waste ur money on the brackets at Batteryworld.

will have to get the battery first and get the measurements..

today.. the battery leaked even more.. the acid went onto my front guard!!

sigh.. now i have to get someone to make the bracket for me

wire-wheel and paint your current bracket. That rust isn't bad.

Chemistry 101

Get a bucket of water.

Add in a generous amount of vinegar.

Dip a dish-washing sponge in solution. Wipe over affected parts of car (wearing gloves is advised, double layer if possible).

Vinegar neutralises acids.

Rinse affected areas after washing, otherwise your bay will smell for a while afterwards, and seagulls may fall in love with you.

man yesterday.. the battery leaked even more.. it dripped near my rims..

isnt vinegar acidic as well?? shouldnt i use something like soap?

went to bunnings y'day.....asked how to remove the rust and all... i sounded hard and time consuming....

remove rust... and wipe it with some crap.. leave it for 2 hours... then prime it... wait for a few hours again (or possibly repeat the prime)... then respray. and the worst thing of all.. he said.. if i apply the prime onto the wrong surface... it fuks up the whole thing and rust even more...

and all these products cost around $4x

id rather pay Toyota i guess...

anyway... do you guys know where to buy new HID ballast brackets?? anyone bought one before? or have a spare for sell??

mate just quickly get the bracket made up and get the dry cell in!

the more u "try" to fix/remove the rust the more rust ur gonna get

and ur current batt. wont be in good shape either with so much water/acid spilling out.

im sure u dun want to be stranded somewhere with no power :o

man yesterday.. the battery leaked even more.. it dripped near my rims..

How does it go near your rims?

-Clean the battery fluid with a soapy sponge (A fooked one that's ready to throw out because you will need to throw it out after this)

-Dry the area.

For the bracket.

-Sand the surface rust a little.

-Use to rust inhibitor/remover/neutraliser, it's a clear liquid, apply with a small brush and use gloves (It should be pretty cheap not over $40?). Leave it for a day or two. The red rust should then turn black after it's neutralised. Sand it back a little to remove the black particles to make it all nice and smooth again.

-Prime it (Normal black primer - It's paint - it doesn't cause rust!). Repeat if needed.

-Then you can paint over it again in gloss black or just leave it as is.

-Normal WD40 or RP7 can then be used in future as a rust preventer. I've used WD40 on metal exposed to salt water on marine engine components and never had anything corrode.

Some places (like supercheap the last time i checked) offer free battery testing. If a 2nd battery is causing problems, there may be a reverse current destabilising the battery, causing the acids to 'boil'. It may be prudent to check your electrics/wiring sooner than later - maybe it's not the battery. My knowledge on batteries is about a decade old, but I am trying. A $200-odd battery can ruin a +/- $30000 car.

man!

the guy at batteryworld gave me a tiny terminal...

its too small to fit

ive went to repco... they dont have the right one to fit it....

this deka has a screw on terminal... do they have a bigger size?

the acid spill through my bonnet.. onto my front guard.. and dripped a little onto my wheel..

i guess i need to get it check soon... the wires does look really old and dodgy...

i may have to try your method Izz-Fe.

but man its does cost at least $40..

the guy at bunning told me to buy 3 cans of crap.. each cost something like $13-5

buy a wire wheel for the drill, and a can of black brake caliper paint.

Wire wheel the bracket in the rusted area's until the metal is completely shining silver, then spray with brake caliper paint.

I've done this to about 14 different battery brackets with good success. 4 and 5 years down the track no rust has come through.

I like the VHT brake caliper paint but it's not cheap at ~$25 a can. Does quite a lot of calipers and battery brackets etc though :P

The terminal size should be fine, u may have got the + and - terminals the wrong way round as one is bigger than the other ;)

wooohooo! they gave me a bigger..... hmm that bolt thing... :P but i dont have that kinda tool to screw it onto the battery. <_<

anyway!

i was going to buy a wire wheel... coz its sounded a lot easier and no chemicals!! and i could spray it blue or something

but i just called toyota.. the bracket only cost like $8.2 :whistling: hahahha save a lot of work!!!! i guess i can still spray it! hehehe

the bolts on the chassis has start to rust a little. used soda to clean off the acid.. and the rust kinda disappeared for now..

the guy at repco was shocked, "thats a very small battery, does it have enough power?" :P

its so small that.. i have nowhere to put my hid ballast....

i guess i need to buy the CAI really soon!! more SPACE hehehe
