Hello All,

I had my car serviced on Tuesday (non dealer service) and when I got it back I could hear this "gurgling" noise just behind the dash when the car starts up. The noise has since gone and apparently its due to air pockets in the line? Also is it ok to top up the radiator coolant with water? :help:

Yeah that could be the reason why it gurgled then again it could be somthing else

As for radiator fluid if you have a corolla most of the people use the red coolant i think

you can put water in but be aware that it makes the radiator rust if you dont have rust inhibator coolant in there already i have learnt from that!

Yes the gurgle is only air in the pipes, eventually it works its way to the purge/filler tank.

Unlike old cars, you can only really top up with coolant not water to avoid corrosion and build up in the cooling galleries.

The Toyota Original coolant is recommended.

you can top the overflow tank up with distilled water. The same as you use to mix up the 50/50 Toyota LLC.

You can buy distilled water at Supercheap, Autobarn etc in 5 litre bottles.
