Shift Light

Hey guys, Just wondering what kind of shift light this is, I dont have a picture of it but yea Ill describe it.

I got this clip of a sportivo on the track, I think its the owner of Northy's car the guy before him. Anyway it has a Alpine Double Din head unit the silver headunit.

The shift light lights up blue, it has 2 blue dots then after that once you hit 6000 there's a RED led so thats 3 lights then 7000rpm another RED led then once you hit 8000rpm there's another RED led abit further away, is this custom or is it some brand? Im really intrested in this light, if anyone could help me that would be great.

Not sure about that one, but i do know that jaycar sells DIY kits with 3 leds for ~$35. No reason why you can't box it nicely and split the led connectors from one led to two, and use different colours.

Yep that's Northy's handy work (he made it for Shao when Shao owned the car)

They are all individial shift llights set into the dash going off at different intervals.

I've got a thread somewhere with different commercial ones that are available too, I'll just find it for you and link it here :)

Yeah, you can get the xede shift light from chiptorque by calling them up as no one else stocks these anymore. I have the bright blue led one - but have just been too lazy to install it.

just to add, the blue LEDs had resistors to them. can't remember how many ohms tho. and also the lenses were sanded down lightly with 1000grit sandpaper just to give it a frosted look, so that it doesn't laser out your eyeball.
