Anyone have any idea how to turn traction control off. Getting new Mags and want to at least wear a little out of the current tires just for ****s and giggles!!!

OK There is a trick too it. After much experimenting.

To TURN OFF TRACTION CONTROL

The Procedure below MUST be completed quickly, less than 30 Secs from my testing.

1. Make sure the car is in Park and the parking brake is disengaged before you start the car.

2. Start the engine.

3. Engage the parking brake.

4. Fully depress the brake pedal and then release.

5. Fully depress the brake pedal and then release.

6. Disengage the parking brake.

7. Fully depress and hold down the brake pedal.

8. Engage the parking brake, then disengage it (while holding down the brake pedal).

9. Engage the parking brake, then disengage it (while holding down the brake pedal).

10. Release the brake pedal.

11. Engage the parking brake.

12. Fully depress the brake pedal and then release.

13. Fully depress the brake pedal and then release.

what is the threshold like for Aurion anyway?

Do you mean how effective the traction control is? If so, I'm not sure of the appropriate way to describe it.

I've intentionally tested mine for some piece of mind and unintentionally had it activated due to some unexpected road conditions. The ABS does it's job quite effectively with absolutely no delay. The traction control however seems to be a bit laggy and in the case of wheel spin, takes a bit of slip for it to activate. I have been able to create a fair amount of wheelspin from accelerating too hard whilst partially turning and the traction control has ignored that. In the case of sliding on the road however, it kicks in fairly quickly (point 2 below).

1) From 80km/h on a restricted road (both wet and dry), with the aid of ABS/traction control, the Aurion was able to come to a complete stop with a hard application of the brake whilst maintaining a straight line and without any slip. The ABS however is quite noisy and sounds like a hammer hitting on the wheels.

2) Going around a roundabout in the wet following one of those new Clubsport R8's which was going at about 50km/h. Usually this roundabout isn't a problem, but at the time the road was a bit more slick than usual. I was watching him as he went through and when he exited I noticed his rear end slip about 30cm to the right. I kinda laughed then as I went around at the same speed, I felt my rear slip a little and I could hear the traction control doing its job, pretty much instantly. I would say my rear end slipped out by about a third of what the HSV did and it was certainly easy to keep control of my car. In relation to how it felt, it felt light on the rear end but was driving as if I hadn't even slipped. Had there have been no traction control, my guess is that I would have slipped about 60cm before I would have reacted to make any corrections.

As I said, it's hard to explain. The best way to say it is that when you need the traction control, it is going to be there and it will be really effective. In situations when it isn't really that necessary, the system feels a bit unresponsive and you end up questioning its effectiveness.

i reckon the tc works well myself.

i went to a gravel area and tried to throw the car sideways at 60km/h the tc kick in and pretty much pulled the car straight again i reckon it slide about 3 or 4m b4 u could really feel it doin its thing the next shot i did it at 80km/h and it did exactly the same thing but with prob about another 1m of slide b4 u could feel it do its thing

But i wouldnt mind givin this tc turn off thing ago see how good the tyres could fry :D :D :D :D :D :D

Do you just do it again to turn the TC back on?

Gotta turn the car off then on again to turn TC back on. It will always activate when the car is turned on as a failsafe.

i dont know about the normal aurions, but the trd smokes the tyres quite easily with the traction control off... :ph34r:

my TC turned off by itself one day (when i removed the exhaust from the cat back)...

when i went for a test drive to see how loud it was, i didnt realise that it was off...

at a t junction, i turned left and stood on the gas... hit the rev limiter in first then changed to second and then it hit me that the TC system wasnt on... but i was doing a skid, so i kept going... :ph34r:

it left a nice black mark on the road... hahahaha

thats hell dodgy turning off by itself. that should be checked out. coz one day u might need it - then fail. and if u bang it it will be epic fail.

its only turned itself off on that one occasion... and it was the whole VSC system... not just the TC...

i believe it was due to the exhaust being removed and therefor all the hot exhaust gases were just going under the car... so maybe it triggered a fault...

either way, its not a big deal... as soon as i bolted the exhaust back on and started the car, the system was 100% normal again... :)

All i could get in the At-X was a small skid when i planted it till the traction control did it's thing. Then i tried to intentionally smoke them and as i said traction control came to the rescue.. Be interesting to see how long you could hold it for without out it.... Im guess a while :clap:

Road was very wet tonight, was going about 40km/h so i pushed the foot right down & it dropped back 2 gears, held wheel spin for about 5 seconds then shuddered & I let off the gas.

did the same nearby my house, but i held a little longer... chased by cop until reached my garage, where he came down, issuing a $272 fine.. actually there are 2 cops, one said "lose control", and another said "excessive noise". Answered given, "whatever, post me the fine"

Received with written "careless driving" ... wtf

so... up to u, just beware nowadays, especially in melb, there are more the dumb **** around, who think issuing traffic fines is much more important than real crimes..

Its easier for them to issue stupid fines rather than chasing and using their head to crack crime issues...

Plus they get to reach their quota early... :P

Speaking of yet weather, I'm always extremely conscious about accelerating in the wet with my Sportivo. The wheel hop on it is horrible.

Definatly have to agree with that been raining up here in brissy for days and as soon as you apply a bit of pressure at the it hopslike a bitch... Also traction control has been given a workout with the rain been testing it's limits a bit and it's not a bad system doesn't let you do anything to stupid which i guess froma saftey point of view is a very good thing... Also so true about the cops give them a traffic infringment and they will jump right on it ask them to investigate a otheft and it takes days to get a response and even then it'll just be a slip to say it happened and they don't have any evidence.. any way thats my bitch for this evening :( on a lighter note got a full take of fuel and going to try turning the traction tonight and lighting the tyres up :yahoo:
