Tyres Available To Replace Sportivo Rims

I have compiled a list of tyres are that available in the 205/50/16 and 205/55/16 which meet load and speed rating regulations for the Corolla Sportivo.

The difference in speedmeter of 205/50/16 compared to the standard 195/55/16 size is 1.5% too fast. This means when you are travelling at 100km/h, you are actually doing 98.5km/h.

The difference in speedmeter of 205/55/16 compared to the standard 195/55/16 size is 1.8% slower. This means when you are travelling at 100km/h, you are actually doing 101.8km/h

*Update* Added a 195/55/16 section. Warning though, be prepared to pay twice as much for this size.

just to add in order to clarify

is tere any problems with going up to 215 55 16 or 225 55 16... or would it be better to go 215 /225 50 r16... they tend to be cheaper and more widely availabe due to their use on falcodores etc... and magnas. Good choice in tyre brands as well.

considering the standard tyre size is 195/55r16 most tyre fitters will consider it irresponsible to fit 205/55r16s for the street.

I know ay! There were issues in getting 205/50 in time. The Turanza's were BALD, and I needed tyres asap.

205/55/R16 Yokohama A.drives (on a 35mm drop) these things helped me keep up with waiwong around the twisties on the last cruise ;) lol

They do look very chunky, but they are fine (makes the car look like a track biatch too haha). I have a set of D2 coilovers going in soon and I'll be going as low as I can without scrubbing (which is 55mm drop I think?) BanGn was running 205/55 also, he was scrubbing but that's because the crazy mo fo had dropped it hardcore hahahaha. Go brian ;)

Depends on how much you wanna spend Dom, buuuuuut the profile to pick is definently 205/50/R16

I had no choice but to get 55's and they are too spongey.

Yokohama a.drives are really good, very soft profile though and won't last vrey long (25,000k's) that's what I'm running.

The Yokohama c.drives are really decent for everyday driving and performance, also in the wet.

Bridgestone Potenza's are good too man.

Toyo's are bloody good as well.

One thing to remember though. If you're getting tyres for the sportivo wheels get 205/50 lol. Nothing else ;)

Yes they are just very expensive for what you get (the 205/50R16 has superior handling, and is usually cheaper due to it being a much more common profile than the 195/55R16)

Cos ive currently got the sportivo rims on my sedan (which came with the 195/60/R15 88V).

I was looking at getting the stivo rims for my ascent, and only found one mainstream tyre offered that met our load rating requirement (The Yokohama A.drive R1 AR01 205/50R16 91V). they are apparently a very good tyre (excellent traction in dry/ reasonable traction in wet) but I didn't get the stivo rims becos the a.drives would only last around 25000 k's (I have got 60000 k's out of my original dunlop sp200e's), and also if they stopped producing this tyre I would hav been up sh!t creek without a paddle becos i couldn't find another one that met our load rating requirement. :( :( :(

But let me know how u go and if u end up finding some other tyres (I would be interested to know) ;)

Rob (badboyz) can answer that one (he has a drives in 205/55R16 cos they onli had them in stock not the 205/50R16)

He rekoned they were good just a bit too mcuh sidewall flex. Also there is a significantly larger rolling diameter (especially for non-sportivo's like us) which the guy at Bob-Jane-T-Masts reckoned you could get defected for (as they increase rollin diameter by 17mm and he said usually the max allowable is 15mm either way(it onli increases the rolling diameter for the sportivo by 11mm (which is legal))). My end result was i couldnt be fecked paying the extra money for tyres that werent gona last very long (The Yokohama A.drive R1 AR01 205/50R16 91V), so I'm still looking to this day for the stock 15" alloys at wreckers (and on here) :(

FYI too, when I'm grabbing the 17's (Steve is the best lol) I'm sticking with the 215/40 profile. Most likey am mating those rims with a.drives later ;)

Yea if it wasnt for the fact that my dad won't let me spend too much money on the car (as my parents gave it to me) and also that he doesn't want any illegal mods on the car (he's very conservative), I probably would have just got them. So neK if u wanna do it, jus do it man as nike would say (eithr pay extra for the The Yokohama A.drive R1 AR01 205/50R16 91V (and risk that they wont discontinue it), risk it with the load rating, or risk it with the extra rolling diameter)
