  1. Do you have any problems with speed bumps or cornering? Rubbing guards? Are you happy with the ride after being lowered etc etc? My rolla looks exactly like Tigers (ride height wise with and 17' wheel), im very happy withthe result. I shall post some photos later. The handeling improves a lot, the ride feels much stiffer at first but loosens up after a while. The only problem I have is because my remus exhaust is a bit lower than my sportivo sideskirts, it is really easy to hit the exhaust on almost any speed bumps. I have to crab crawl over most ramps that look a little bit high so I dont damage my sideskirts, neons or exhaust. Also if you have it lowered then be aware of parking head on facing a curb.... would be very easy to just plough into it... cant say I have done it yet. I ran over a curb at night time when I didnt see it and broke a side neon on my car. Just proves that one little mistake and you can do some damage easily. But overall im incredibly happy with the lowering. Looks fantastic.
  2. Thats the exact same as I have and exact same as I paid... I bought mine from one of the best suspension places in Perth... not the best but certainly a reliable place that really made the handeling improve unbelievably (I have an ascent... not sportivo)
  3. Wow you live pretty close to me, I live in Leeming. Have you got a white stivo an exhaust mod and new rims? Or is that another sportivo I keep seeing around.... I'll be starting a rolla club up in perth soon.... so many rollas around we all have to meet together.
  4. As soon as you get your supercharger running well and everything grimlock then i'll be on my way to getting one as well. Remember to take notes of anything that has needed changing and what you have done to fix it, I have a feeling i'll be needing it :P
  5. Well... I bought a rolla ascent before the sportivo came out. Even if I hadnt I couldnt afford $10,000 more to pay for a sportier version. I love my rolla ascent, would not trade it in for anything at the moment, and for me its fun to do up a car that is seen as the underdog in the corolla range (sportivo and levin being the more sportier versions) My rolla looks just as good as a sportivo, now it has the kit and wheels and a nicer exhaust. You can do all of the mods to a sportivo as well... unichip, tyres, CAI... etc. The fact is that I dont want a sportivo, I have what I want and now im after performance upgrades. If you put all the upgrades on a sportivo for $5000 extra why not get a car worth $5000 more instead of the sportivo? Thats what your basically saying....
  6. Ive been asked thrice in Perth to pop my hood, and im driving an ascent with nothing but stock parts under the hood. First time I was driving around with my neons on, second time I was just driving around normally (was more of a spot check) and third time I lost it and skidded on a very slippery road.... and the cop behind me skidded on the road as well... he wanted to more or less check the car was okay and such. Yeah.... in WA if your filter isnt housed right you will get a sticker, its the one thing cops know around here.
  7. I totally don't know what anything is... bahaha... headers.... manifold.... il paint it all (jooking) Ive looked at the TRD supercharger... they sell them in America... would they fit our cars though? From what ive seen the engines are the same. IS CAI legal to have in your car? There is a difference between a pod filter and CAI also isnt there? At least I don't have to worry about looking like an idiot on these forums now.... ive already done it! :P Now.... lets talk about a self installed NOS system next...
  8. Ah those black plastic crappy things coming out are the headers? Oh okay.. How much is CAI normally in Australia... any particular brand to go for?
  9. Awesome, someone else who loves their 1zz engine. Ive got a remus exhaust that is great how it is, not sure how much it was cost to replace the headers... what exactly are the headers anyways? I know why its better to replace but im not sure what they look like or anything.... Ive been after CAI for ages, not sure what brand or how to fit it though... it seems complicated to me for some reason. K&N filter I believe needs a permit in Western Australia... again... im not sure how to fit it or anything like that... I have federal tyres that are plenty good enough... unless its wet.... if its wet I think I have about as much traction as a grizzly bear does on ice. I have seen K&N filters around... but it looks like just the filter... no piping or anything... is that how they are meant to be sold? Do you not need the nice big chrome pipe for it to work? My ***... my knowledge on cars has really gone down lately
  10. Just trying to get an idea of who is located in Perth here, may be starting a corolla car club up and need to get an idea of how many people on this board own a corolla.
  11. Well I was thinking of making the base colour black and getting eyelids... not to mention having your name enscribed on the side skirts... :D Yeah I was just curious really, im up for supercharging my rolla... but ive no idea how nor where to go to get it done or anything.
  12. How much do you reckon that would have cost? Ive been thinking about putting a sportivo engine in my normal 2003 ascent rolla, no idea how much it would cost to do though or how I would go about doing it, anyone have any ideas?
  13. Pretty funny stuff... Meh... they are keeping it to their own forums so who cares?
  14. I have an official Remus exhaust on my 1zz rolla. In my humble opinion it sounds great and does improve performance a tiny bit. A little better at taking off than before, thats all the difference I would say. Its a great little exhaust, its not loud whilst idling nor is it incredibly loud for driving through a suburb at 3 in the morning. BUT... put your foot down and get the revs up and she hums like a giant killer bee Its really great as you can almost control the level of noise the remus exhaust puts out by lowering or raising your revs. Looks great in my opinion too! Id highly reccommend this exhaust to anyone wanting a bit more sound and a bit of a better look.
  15. All the guy was doing was stating his opinion... Nothing wrong with a little healthy debate. We all know that the majority os us own stivos on this forum, but it doesnt mean we have to think its the greatest car in the world which has no negatives at all... There have been plenty of negatives about the stivo that I have heard from you guys talking on the boards that have made me glad that I got a normal rolla. I dont think this topic needs anymore replys like 'my stivo is the best so shut up and get away from our forums' so try to keep it to constructive arguement from now on. DISCUSS why the stivo should or should not be Best Buy for under 30k.
  16. Maybe volvo drivers where driving the hondas whilst racing the sportivo
  17. People are just doubting it now because it was in shootout mode I believe, which has been proven to be a bit dodge sometimes and give higher figures. Not me though, a dyno is a dyno, good on you man! Keep that grin on your face as you drive past all the other cars that try to drag you... :D
  18. Personally I prefer the official sportivo rear skirt rather than that. It appealed to me heaps at first but now comes across as tacky to me. im a fan of the WRC spoiler but already have a sportivo spoiler so its pointless at me even looking at any... im not changing my spoiler :) Any performance shop that deals with bodykits should be able to get you that kit in <rollin>. Since its already an official kit it wont need to be customized and normally the performance shops that sell bodykits have contacts around Japan even so chances are they would be able to find it easily.
  19. Yup I get that consatntly in my rolla as well (not sportivo) Wind down a front window a little bit and it should go normally. I think its just enevatable with the shape and size of the car that we get a strange draft come from the rear windows.
  20. Maybe I should organise a Perth meet...... even if I would be the only one to turn up Nice to see some good rolla spirit between you all. Good work on the meet!
  21. :D Thanks for the complimet rolling, yeah its a sportivo rear skirt. Seems like the sportivo kit thats put on sportivos and the sportivo kits put on normal rollas are different though, technically mine is much wider than a sportivo's sportivo skirt... if that makes sence. I agree about not supercharging or turbo'ing the rolla as well... thus why I simply just want to upgrade the power I can get out of my NA engine
  22. I totally love it! When I first got the car I thought 'Oh good, its not constantly loud all the time... only when I put my foot down' After 2 hours of very harsh driving at 120kms+ I drove into a quiet suburb at 40kmh and the exhaust was soooo loud... bahaha I loved it. Tiger, thanks so much for that info! Whilst turbocarging would be the greatest thing ever, im not sure if I want to lose the overall practibility of the rolla by using forced induction like that, the exhaust has already somehow made me lose a lot of fuel economy (either that or my last refill was dodgy because of where I filled it). Im more or less after getting the most out of the NA engine... it just seems like a nice challange to me.
  23. Im guilty as charged for the idea.... I know it will never run like a sportivo... but im more or less after sportivo performance, as in roughly the same KW's as a sportivo puts out and be able to keep up with one on a road... if you know what I mean??
  24. I like the fact that my rolla is an ascent... If I can get sportivo power out of it then it will be twice as good as no-one would expect such power from a simple lil ascent. Pee-K - Thanks heaps for the info! I do like the remus exhaust even if there is a bit of powerloss with it, im sure I can regain the small amount of power ive lost with some simple mods, but thanks so much for giving me some food for though on it!!!!! Will be looking at TRD sales now and hopefully have something in my car by the end of the year. :) More comments are appreciated as well.
  25. Ok, well ive modded the exterior of my rolla to something im very happy with, overally I love the looks and the handling of the car. I have a full sportivo kit, 17' chrome rims, remus exhaust, undercar neons and king springs suspension. Here is what she looks like now. Right, now im looking at enhancing the performance to get up to sportivo standards!!! Ive been told headers, extractors, intake and ecu are the way to go, but im not exactly sure what is meant by all that. What are headers and extractors? And what type of place can I buy them from (I live in Perth) Also how much should I be looking to pay out for them and fitting them. Im pretty determined from what you guys have said that a unichip is the way to go as well... which will be the last thing I will mod on my rolla. Do any of you have any more suggestions of way to enhance my N/A engine... Ive thought about supercharging, but thought strongly against it as I want to stay in the N/A classifications :D Thanks for any advice thats given! Much appreciated!
