  3. Cheers mate. In Canberra as well:) Ours has 60,000kms on it now, and they seem alot worse lately, even my wife is complaining about them! (they weren't so noticeable earlier on in ownership). Canberra winters seem to bring it on badly. I was reading on the Toyota nation forum that Toyota highlander owners in the US call the winter months rattle season, and that it is a wide spread problem there. Hopefully they might have sorted this out on newer ones for when I trade next time. First Toyota I have owned, so sorta had high expectations of overall quality. Still happy with the Kluger, it's just a pity that small quality things like dash rattles sour the ownership experience a little.
  4. Hi, I have a 2007 Kluger KXR AWD. It suffers from the dreaded dash rattles during cold weather. I have heard USA owners on Toyota nation complaining about this as well. I also remember reading of members here having issues as well. Mine seems to get really bad rattles on both the drivers side and passanger side of dash, and a very annoying one near the steering column or similar. They mostly go away after driving for a while when the car warms up a bit. I was wondering (for those off us in cooler winter climates) is this still an issue in later models, or have Toyota now fixed it? Thanks
  5. Yes few annoying things hey. Wifes 2005 Ford Focus even has auto remote open close for all windows, plus auto up/down inside car for all windows. Amazing how much you miss this in the kluger. Focus actually has a few other nifty things for example.... all power window buttons being illuminated, auto on rear wiper (if front wipers on) when reverse selected, and once touch lane change indicator stalk. Amazing how much the little things make a difference. Guess just different makes push different features. Still love the kluger:)
  6. Holden Commodores from 6 years ago had these features! On my mates Commodore SS you could go into the trip computer and turn them on or off yourself. There were various ones including the auto door lock, and turning the door lock horn sound off and on. Annoying that Toyota do not offer all of these in Australia, and that Toyota would even make features like these a dealer only setup???
  7. Checkout ebay, have seen these being listed regularly. Go at anywhere from $250-500 brand new. (people removing to add satnavs)
  8. Hi, How do you find the flyaudio's lcd in day driving? Most of the touch screen units I have seen really struggle with reflections and washout even in moderate sun. Have seen a couple of units in other cars which cope much better, but without the flyaudio's features. cheers
  9. Well I am happy to be proven wrong then:) Big thing I guess will it supports iphone 3gs phonebook, as this seems to be a tricky one. Keep us updated plugnplay. I have heard rumours that it will allow phonebook download, but will not support caller id name and number display. Surely not!!!! Also to any current owners or plugnplay. What is the lcd on the units like in day driving with sunlight. Most of the cheaper chinese units seem to have very low quality highly reflective lcds that wash out almost completely even in indirect sun. Not good in a car interior. I have seen a couple of units that use good lcd's that cope very well with the sun. Would be interested to know how the roadfly units perform in this regard. cheers
  10. What is incredible with these units is that none appear to be able to do bluetooth phonebook (for making calls via name, displaying name and number of incoming calls etc). When even $200-300 portable gps units have this features it is a serious oversight in such expensive units. Anyway guess see what the future holds:)

    kxr tyres

Hey, They must have dropped in price a bit, or have you got some connections re price? I was quoted $340 for the Dunlops, ended up with Pirelli scorpion str's for $320 and very happy with them. Much better then the Dunlops in my experience with them. As is the norm these days with car companies and their Tyre brand deals, Toyota have opted for a difficult size 245/65/17, and not much around as yet hence the higher prices. (i.e Territory uses a 235/60/17.) Goodluck
  12. Email to Toyota Australia customer service. Think others need to make some noise about this as well!!! http://www.toyota.com.au/email-toyota Dear Sir/Madam, I today received a recall notice for my 2007 Toyota Kluger. This recall is in relation to a possibly defective engine oil pipe (and effects other models using the 3.5 engine). Apparently the rubber pipe can crack causing severe engine oil loss and engine damage. I am about to book my car in for this to be looked at. My concern relates to many reports that are now appearing on the internet and in the media that this pipe is being replaced with a cheap rubber version, and not a metal pipe as fitted to newer model Klugers etc? Is this true? Surely this cannot be correct from Australias number one vehicle seller. Would reputation be risked for the sake of a few dollars? If so I find this treatment of early buyers, and the penny pinching involved almost unbelievable from a company I have held in such high regard for many years. Surely if it is deemed appropriate to fit a metal pipe to newer models, then a cheap rubber replacement for earlier buyers is highly questionable? Will Toyota look after buyers years down the track if this rubber replacement pipe also fails? I look forward to your response, and reassurance that these disturbing reports are false. Regards
  13. Hi guys, Sorry about the slow response re the switch. I will go back in and see the guy I spoke to last time and get the switch part number. I don't think the grande switch would suit as it would have different connectors. You will need the switch I mentioned in previous post. cheers
  14. Pity you have to go original. I went Pirelli Scorpion STR's and they are brilliant. Ridiculous that a car that regularly appears in the top 20 selling vehicles each month can't get original tyres supplied.! I noticed when replacing mine there wasn't much around at all in the kluger 245/65/17 size.........and very pricey due to this lack of competition!! Not just the supermarkets taking us for a ride:)
  15. Hey, First part is to carefully remove the top air vents which surround the trip computer/camera display. This section pulls out with moderate force, starting by prying from the top. There are no screws just clips which hold in place. You can use a blunt object to assist with prying the vent from the top, but care must be taken not to scratch. Next you need to remove the bottom section which includes the lift up compartment where the 12volt power socket is hidden. This section pulls out from near the glove box passanger side, and steering column drivers. There is no screws or anything, just clips holding in place. Moderate force used again, and blunt object (maybe covered with cloth to prevent scratching.) Once this section is removed the hvac (aircon control) section also just pulls out. All screws etc for the stereo surround will then be clearly visible. I will try and take some photo's to make this clearer if no one has any handy. http://au.toyotaownersclub.com/forums/inde...showtopic=17524 few pics here helps as well. Any questions let me know.
  16. No dramas I will get some pics up soon. How do you find the fit between the plastic covers and the rubber under the rails? Much of a gap etc? Not sure I have my plastic caps fitted properly as little gap, where saw a factory one today and plastic caps fitted with no gap against rubber. Very happy with rails, bargain:) Will probably go the side steps as well.
  17. Hey guys, Got some roof rails from oznest88 ebay as well. Mine fitted straight in, didnt need any extra holes drilled etc??? Note the current listing states- One pair of Aluminium Roof Rails Suitable for Kluger 07-09 model No need drilling, no cutting, easy mounting Maxi loading 50 kg Only in silver colour Comes with fitting kits and instruction This is not genuine Toyota part. Confused as to why yours needed extra drilling for holes gerds, maybe a different version then what is currently listed on ebay?
  18. Saw Toyota in Canberra to get a price on the style hazard light switch that would be needed if it doesnt come with this unit. They confirmed that they can get one to suit (little different to the US style one that has airbag off light, and is the wrong way around for us.) Was only asking out of out of interest, as not looking to upgrade as yet. They said they can order it, price $294!!! @%$# Also found a picture of one. Will post the part number for anyone who is still keen. Those that are looking to go this way definately watch out if this is included or not. Also another thing to watch out for from another forum, apparently many aftermarket units don't have an auto dimming screen for night, which is meant to be very annoying and a big hassle with these size lcds. Goodluck, would love to see how things go with this.
  19. Hey, Anyone driven both the KXR and KXS/GRANDE and can comment on differences in noise, ride quality and road holding? Or any member lucky enough to own both:) Cheers
  20. Hi, Will get some pics posted when can. Away at moment. Thanks
  21. Hey, It fitted straight in where the old stereo unit was, same size and shape exactly. Cheers
  22. Hey, I've got a Polaris PID3119 which from what I can see is mostly the same unit. You won't need an amp or anything as they have one builtin same as most car stereos. Though in the specs I found on net it says the Caska has an optional navi box, so did you get that as well for gps operation? If not you will need a navi box to use the gps function. Have had mine fitted to my 2007 kluger for a while now, and been a great little unit for the money. Couldn't justify the $3500+ of the standard Toyota unit:) All functions seem to work pretty well for the money. Motorized screen can be little sticky/buggy in operation (I hardly ever need to open it anyway, as use ipod or card), and have had to reset mine once when it froze, but on the whole has been very reliable other then that. More then my wifes portable Navman!!! Has a lot more features than my mates Kluger grande standard toyota unit. Love the bluetooth, onscreen ipod control, and not having cables everywhere from a portable nav! I paid around $1400 bucks for mine on sale (think they were $1599), so think you got a bargain. The seller must have worn a fair loss on what they would have paid, so good buy! Look forward to seeing some pictures of it fitted, and your feedback etc.

    What tyres?

Pirelli Scorpion STR's on my kluger and very happy. Mostly onroad driving, but the few dirt roads and tracks etc I have driven on have been no drama's. A big step up from the standard Dunlops. They also do a Scorpion ATR if you plan on spending even more time on dirt etc. Cheers
  24. That economy is good given that run down. It will be better again on proper petrol and not rubbish sugar cane crop cut "fund John's mates up north" crap :D Best fuel I have found for economy is 95 Oct or Premium from either BP or Mobil, next best is 98 oct, then the 91 or whatever it is.... never ever put sugar in your Kluger! it costs you more in the long run and it is no good for anything in your engine let alone your back pocket! Amazing some people are reporting better economy on E10 fuel. I saw a recent test where they compared E10 against 91, 95, and 98 ulp. The e10 had by far the worse results even though it was slightly cheaper at the pump. Basically they concluded that you needed to use more of it to produce the same power, so this resulted in worse economy even allowing for the price difference. From memory the 98 even though most expensive won the shootout. (will try and find the link to it and post) Ive never tried E10, but (and i know Toyota approve the Kluger to run on it) have always wondered about the wisdom of putting a lower quality fuel into a $45000 to $65000 car just to save a few cents per litre at the pump. I guess use what works for you in the end though. Cheers
