  1. You must have been reading my mind LOL :) I stood behind the car today and thought to myself, it does look like the Lexus from the rear and Aurion from the front. hahahahaha :) Sorry mate, I will go against the flow with the tail light surrounds. That's interesting as I have changed the xtrail tail light to LED that was on the xtrail in Taiwan as well. Have you got pics of the Altis LED tail lights? I have to check it out. I was tossing between going the full Altis theme or taking bits and pieces of it and I was offerred the full Altis bodykit for the ZRE which looks like this: I'm still thinking about it. Small world :) Yes, I was an active member on the MMT Forum in the xtrail section.
  2. I spotted that same guy back in February. He ruined a good Aurion. I think he has 19" chrome rims now! If that what turns him on, good on him ;) Some people like to spend money lowering their rides, others like to drive around with doof doof systems or an exhaust pipe larger than the car itself and some like to blind people on the road with their bling, so all is good, but at least the chrome bits are more environmentally friendly add ons :D :P
  3. Thanks rocky ;) I also forgot to add that I changed that weak Toyota horn to something a bit more powerful and something than can alert other drivers who decide to change lanes at the last second. It's the Stebel Nautilus 139db air horn. You can hear it HERE :) An Italian piece of magic. The number of times this horn saved me from an accident is unbelievable.
  4. Yeah, that's what the Rolla thinks, the owner of it though thought to himself......if only I had twice as much money to spend on a car driven by the wife LOL :) He then woke-up from that nightmare of a dream. hehehehehe As I said guys, I had to outline the tail lights as there were almost invisible with the colour of the car. I didn't want to go the Altezza chrome tail lights but that could be an option later on if I find some nice ones. No chrome rims for this ride, kerb damage is highly probable by the second driver of this car ;) And before you go any further, this Rolla is actually VERY lucky not to get the full chrome treatment, as I am known to LOVE the chrome theme (see my x-trail below nick named "The Chrome Exy"). hahahaha :) Yes, each to his own indeed as someone mentioned already.
  5. Possibly, then again the aurion might look like an enlarged corolla. hahahaha :)
  6. Exactly mate. I didn't use the rest of the chrome bits that came in the kit thinking it'll be way over-board. I just wanted to outline what needs outlining, especially the tail lights which were a bit lost with the red car ;)

  8. Hi Guys, As promised, here are pics of my 2007 ZRE Ascent (am not even sure the model name applies to it anymore LOL :) ) I got this car 2nd hand about 2 weeks ago and it had 19,000kms on the clock and both my wife and I fell in love with the colour of it, but more so, I liked the fact that it was such a nice clean car and well looked after. It had the brand new car smell still in it LOL :) Anyway, as I come from a Nissan background and crazy about modifying cars that I like, I thought I'd give the Wildfire Rolla a bit of a face-lift and prepared a huge list of cosmetic and practical mods for it. As I already have contacts in the industry who helped me supply the "goodies" for my Nissan X-Trail, it wasn't a major problem sourcing some cool accessories for the little Rolla and I got straight into it. Here are some pics of it completing stage-1 of the transformation ;) Anyway, here is the list of addition to the ZRE: Aftermarket Fog Lights Bonnet Gas Struts Rear Spoiler with LED Brake Light LED Mirror Covers
  9. Good stuff Charlie. Am glad you found the problem and that it happened before you had the chance to fit the CAI, otherwise you would have been scratching your head thinking the CAI may have caused it ;)
  10. Hi Guys, I got a bit confused today when I called a couple of Toyota dealers to ask about the cost of the 20,000kms service The first dealer said it will cost $120.00 for the 20K service if my car was registered for something called "Toyota Service Advantage Program" which I have no idea about having bought the car 2nd hand, he said if my car is not registered with that program, the cost of the service will be $220.00 I told him that car is a 2007 model and has done 19,500kms only, so it's still under the new car warranty, but he said, it's different and it needs to be registered on the advantage program to be able to get the reduced service cost. Thinking he was just telling me fibs, I called another dealer, same answer and same service cost, however he asked for the VIN so he can check that advantage service program registration and my car was on it. He did mumble something about doing a 2 year service instead of the 20,000kms service, as the car is 2 years old. Not sure what was that about and are they punishing owners for not driving cars enough or trying to short-change those who haven't got enough kms on the clock?? The 2 year service is the 40,000kms service, so he basically is suggesting to skip the 20K and 30K service intervals and go straight to the 40K service to still be within warranty due to age of the car. Has anyone heard of such a thing?
  11. Hi Guys, The cost was $199.00/set (unpainted) and I had them colour-coded locally for $35.00 As I deal with many manufacturers overseas being an Nissan X-Trail fanatic, I approached one of the manufacturers in Taiwan who previously sent me the xtrail mirror covers and sure enough, they had ones for the ZRE which they asked me to try. I will check if they make them for the 2005 model. If you're interested in acquiring a set of these LED Mirror Covers, drop me a PM.
  12. Thanks. Post a pic of your mirror housing and let me know the model of your car and I'll see if I can find it for you.
  13. Hi rez, as requested, I just went outside and took some pics for ya :) These mirror covers are a direct replacement of the factory housing cover and have integrated (built-in) LED module in them which light-up when you signal to turn and are visible from the front, side and rear of the car. For someone driving behind you, they will see the edge of the mirror flashing amber indicating a turn. Fitting them was quite easy, well, for me anyway, as I have done similar mods on many Nissan X-Trails. You just need to pop the factory covers off, then remove the door lining (held by 2 screws only), unplug the wiring that goes to the window motors and then unclip the corner tweeter from its place. Once that done, you will see 3 nuts holding the mirror base to the door, remove them and unplug the mirror wiring harness and the whole mirror housing will be in your hands. Turn it upside down and you will see 3 torx screws which you need to remove as well. Once that done, you can start feeding the wires of the LED mirror cover to follow the existing wiring of the mirror. Put the mirror back in place and then attach it to the door of the car. Once that done, feed the wires through to the fender indicator and splice the wiring of the indicator to give power to the LED mirror covers. Test the operation of the LED covers by turning the hazards on and enjoy watching them flash. That's about it. I think I've seen these LED Mirror Covers on the Aurion and I reckon they're exactly the same shape and size as the ZRE. (to be confirmed) Tomorrow, I will post pics of them operating in daytime. Group-Buy Guys? hehehehe :)
  14. Sound like you need to do the idle re-learn. It would have been handy to have the service manual, as for Nissan's it tells you exactly how to do the idle re-learn. Have you played around with your throttle body lately?
  15. Hi Guys, Operation LED Mirror Covers for the ZRE was a 100% success and it wasn't any diffirent to the way I fitted these LED Mirror covers to other Nissan's apart from removing/unclipping the factory covers from the outside as rez mentioned. They have been colour coded to match my Wildfire ZRE and are working perfectly well. I will take pics when I wash the car, as I don't like to share pics of dirty rides LOL :) Will also take daytime and night-time shots for you all.
  16. It'll be more than enough for the wife ;) I don't want her to fly in the Corolla and writing it off like she did with the Tiida LOL :) The main reason I got the K&N wasn't power gain as I know it's not much, but I don't want to keep chaging paper filters and for Toyota to charge me an arm and a leg for their rubbish filters.
  17. Installed the aftermarket set of fog lights today and used the existing car wiring and the push-in switch that came with the kit. The relay position in the ZRE is actually located in the centre console so the trim around the gear stick and just below the air-con dials needed to be taken-off to see the position of the relay. A fuse was then inserted in the fuse panel behind the passenger glovebox. No additional wiring was needed and we simply cut the head of the plug from the supplied wiring loom with these fog lights to make it connect to the push-in switch, so it now works exactly the same way as the steering stalk and the light in the dash lights-up when this switch is pushed-in. All up cost was $279.00 P.S. Bumper removal was not needed either as the fog light positions are easily accessible from under the car by removing the plastic guard on the corners.
  18. On the subject of big puddles and driving in the rain, I have solved this problem by fitting a bypass valve in the CAI which prevents it from sucking any water and stops it from going into the intake/engine. I have even done water crossing in my x-trail off-road with the CAI ;) HERE are more details about it and it comes in different sizes to suit the size of the pipe of the CAI.
  19. That'll be great mate. How old is your K&N? it's been in the car for about 2 months, only just cleaned it out aswell, $70 and it's yours i'll throw in the recharge kit to aswell since i wont have any use for it, i payed roughly $160 all together Consider it a done deal mate. I'll send you a PM now.
  20. The exhaust people I deal with and these guys have over 39 years experience with cars like Lamborghini, Ferrari and other high powered cars (and not so high powered ones) are Hi-Tech Mufflers at Darlinghurst. They have a huge factory at Bathurst and Lambros (the owner) will do anything to please you and custom make any exhaust system for any car. All of their exhaust systems are mandrel bent and made of stainless steel, they don't use any of the mild steel rubbish which rusts after a while and of their systems have proven power and torque gains. They will even pay for the "before" and "after" dyno runs to prove the gains. Sorry to but-in like that, but just thought I'd give a free plug to an excellent Sydney based business who I dealt with for over 5 years. In case you're wondering, I do have an affiliation with them as part of the Australian X-Trail Club and they have been fantastic in supporting our members and designing top class exhaust systems (both cat. back and full exhaust system replacement including headers....etc)
  21. Hi Guys, Can you please let me know if K&N part number 33-2360 is the correct size panel filter for our ZRE Rolla's?
  22. For $25.00 it doesn't sound like a quality filter mate. I have a CAI in my Nissan X-Trail and the difference between the generic pod filter that was supplied with the CAI kit compared to a K&N high flow opened ended filter is quite huge and noticeable. The K&N filter is smaller in size too, so I reckon it won't hang that low and you can also get a protective dry bag for it to cover the filter and protect it from sucking in dirt and dust. It comes at a cost though, the K&N pod filter is about $90 bucks or so (depending on the model). The other good filter is Apexi but it's not re-usable like the K&N.
  23. Cool thanks. Now I know what to look for ;)
