  1. Hi Guys, I was trying to figure out how to subscribe and/or upgrade my membership to be able to read topics in the above club section, but the link you have there (on this page) keeps taking me back to main forum view. Where is the actual subscription link/page?
  2. If you're rich and have some $$$ to spare, grab the OEM one. If I was you, I'd grab one of the aftermarket ones which will cost 3-4 times cheaper and will do the same job. Even if it dies after a while, you're still a head in terms of $$$. Head-unit replacement is not a warranty affecting modification. Installation can be done at home as long you get the correct ISO adapters to connect to the factory wiring harnesses. Otherwise, an auto electrician can install it for you for around $100.00
  3. Check THIS post. I have just imported these LED Mirror Covers for some guys on the forum. If you're interested in getting a set, give me a yell. They look awesome on the ZRE ;)
  4. I noticed that egg smell today, never had it before, so I think the dealer might have put some additive to the fuel tank or it's the type of engine oil they use. The car was serviced 2 days ago. I'll see if that smell continues. Oh, the fuel tank is almost empty too, so maybe the fuel pump is sucking that last bit of fuel with all rotten eggs at the bottom of the fuel tank LOL :)
  5. Hi Guys, Can someone please confirm the bulb sizes for the ZRE sedan headlights? Hi Beam? Lo Beam? I wanna swap them with the Phillips Diamond or Crystal Vision Bulbs or IPF FatBoys (which are even better) but I need to know the bulb sizes Toyota used. I read somewhere that bulb sizes were as follows: Low Beam HB4 High Beam HB3 Can you please confirm.
  6. It's the same with my Nissan X-Trail, it has a timing chain instead of a timing belt and it's basically there for life, all that needs to be done is for the timing chain tensioner to be checked at the 100K service. Most car manufacturers now are moving away from timing belts and fit cars with more reliable timing chains to reduce wear.
  7. Well, that is your choice. Others may want it done faster and it's an option. You also won't have to worry about re-setting the radio stations and re-entering the PIN code for the head unit (if there is one)
  8. That's easier? I thought disconnecting one cable is much much easier.. It's faster. Unless you wanna sit around and wait 30 minutes for the battery to cut power to the ECU :)
  9. Thanks for the replies guys. Just came back from servicing at the local dealer and was only charged $120.00 for the 2 year service (40,000kms) as my rolla turned-out to be on the advantage program (how lucky) :) Oh, I asked them if the ZRE has a timing belt or chain, they said it has a timing chain that doesn't need replacement unlike the previous Rolla models. ;)
  10. If the Toyota ECUs are anythling like the Nissan ones, which I believe they're then there is a much quicker way to re-set the ECU without the need to disconnect the battery or wait around for 30 minutes. This is the process that is applicable to Nissan's: 1. Start up your car and allow it to warm up to its normal idle. 2. Next turn off the engine. 3. Locate the fuse box located under the bonnet and next to the battery. Pull out the 3 fuses: ENG CONT1 (15A), ENG CONT2 (10A), ENG CONT3 (20A). Keep the fuses out for at least 5 minutes. This will cut all power to the ECU. 4. Plug the fuses back in and close the bonnet. 5. Start your car making sure NOT TO TOUCH THE ACCELERATOR WHEN YOU START IT UP. This is very important. 6. Let the car idle at its normal idle speed for about 4 minutes, then turn off your engine. 7. Start your car again and you're done. Removing the above-mentioned fuses directly cuts power to the ECU even with the battery connected. I have to check and see if there are similar fuses in the Corolla fuse box that correspond to the ECU, as that's all that is needed.
  11. Not sure mate, I haven't had a look or dismantled the tail light to have a look, but I don't think there is enough room for a bulb to go in there, the only solution might be an LED strip like what they're doing with the aftermarket set-up of the actual brake/parker light.
  12. I also look forward to seeing your pics. Maybe my wife will like what you have done to your wife's Rolla LOL :)
  13. Yes mate, I do like my chrome (on all of my cars I must add) LOL :) The tail light chrome trims are just a temporary solution until I get the LED tail lights, then I won't need these trims at all. The only thing I hate about the sedan ZRE tail lights is that useless red section with the reverse light is the middle, it's not being used at all, not even in the aftermarket LED tail light set-ups. It would have been awesome to have that red section light-up with the rest of the tail light as parkers and brake, as it would make the tail light look much wider.
  14. Don't worry mate, mine is a different colour anyway ;)
  15. Feel free to use any of these pics of my ZRE...sedan ;)
  16. Thanks Jase, This strut bar was sent to me to trial and test-fit and I always like to try and explore new things myself first hand before making judgement on things and saying they simply won't fit. The strut bar in question is made by a company in Taiwan that manufactures them for every single car in the world, they have told me that it fits the US ZRE version and it also fits the Altis in the Asian market. I had no idea that the chassis will be different between our ZRE, the one in the US and the Altis in Asia, but now I know ;) I think this strut bar is suited for the E14 Corolla in Asia which has different strut mounts to ours. At least I know I wasn't going crazy today when I couldn't fit it, but that still doesn't answer my question about removing that black horseshoe and how you guys managed to do it.
  17. Thanks for the reply mate. Have you fitted yours yet? How did you go about removing the black horseshoe from the bolt that is closer to the firewall? It would be good to have pics showing the installation. Here are pics showing my problem:
  18. Hi Guys, I was just wondering if anyone has fitted a strut bar on the ZRE sedan? Are the chassis the same on the sedan and hatch ZRE and can the same strut bar be used on both cars? If anyone has fitted a strut bar on the ZRE sedan, please let me know what you had to do to fit it. The reason am asking all these questions because I have attempted to fit a strut bar today that was sent to me from overseas marked as "Toyota Altis" which is the same car as our ZRE here, but the base of the strut bar did not align with the strut bar mounts, so I couldn't fit it. In addition to the above, the installation process was so complicated that I kept scratching my head, as I had to remove the entire plastic cowl part from the car and also remove BOTH wipers to be able to remove this cowl. When I had all this done, I noticed the black horse shoe connecting 2 of the strut bolts and I couldn't remove this horse shoe from its place, it would slide off one bolt but not the other, as the top metal section (which sits under the plastic cowl) was blocking access of the horse shoe and I couldn't slide it out. I have never seen anything like it before and this must be the toughest car to fit a strut bar on LOL :) It's either that or am doing something totally wrong ;) Look forward to hearing from you guys. P.S. Is the Australian ZRE sedan based on some other JDM platform (example: Toyota Premio or Wish)?
  19. Hi Guys, Has anyone done this for the ZRE sedan?
  20. I found every single possible headlight and tail light combination for the ZRE through my contacts :) Now it's time to price them and decide what to get ;)
  21. I'm not sure to be honest, as I haven't tried it. Based on my previous experience the chip can only be programmed by the dealer through the ECU. I have a Nissan that has a key and a remote fob, so a similar process can re-program the fob to unlock and lock the doors, but the key itself can only be programmed by the dealer using Consult II device that plugs into the ECU of the car. It wouldn't hurt to try anyway and see what happens.
  22. Thanks mate, I'm gonna have to track them down and also check-out the Thailand version. I have seen full-on LED tail lights being used in Taiwan, but am not sure why they didn't make the small section of the tail light where the reverse light is, light-up as brake and parker as well.
