im guessing the lamp is broken in the 17" monitor. its like i can see lines and tiny bits of detail in the screen when its not lit.. so pixels seem to work... but the lamp is busted? my 19" doesnt have the same problem. it was a driver issue.. but thats fixed.

thanks for the help guys. i went to the NVIDIA website and downloaded the latest driver. its all clear and im REALLY happy with how its looking! my main concern now is how much a possible repair job on my old 17" monitor would cost. does anyone know where i can get one done? how much?

according to the PC it says i have an NVIDIA GeForce4 MX 440 with AGP8X... dated 2003.08.17 lol! OK... looks like i may have found the problem. thanks neK! btw hows that HD tuner you bought from me? still working? EDIT- the very reason why i bought a new LCD screen in the first place is because my HP F1703 monitor started acting up. ive had this screen since like 2003, when i bought this computer. the thing is, about 4 weeks after buying the HP, the screen would switch on for 2-4 seconds, turn off, then instantly turn on again, and so on. The green LED on the brick was flickering simultaneously with the screen going on and off. I was under warranty at the time so i just had the monitor replaced... did not know exactly what the problem was and no explanation was given. fast forward to 2nights ago... my HP f1703 started doing the exact same thing. thats y i bought thi new 19" wide screen. now does anyone know what is causing the problem and is is repairable????

since i joined my brother up in here and he forgot his password and to be honest hes not into his car as much as i am... i decided to share a couple of the things IVE done to change his ride from being a stock standard celica. basically, its a 1998 celica. and its black. 1. hooked him up with the guy M_M hooked us up with to rip out my brothers old tint and install the dark mirror looking mirrors. (no pics of that just yet).. this mod was done about a couple weeks after I got my conquest done. 2. installed this last week: my bro was close to buying a 1din foldout monitor.. but i told him NO! After seeing what happens to stereos with foldout parts when the stereo gets old i told him not go get it (look @ my wifes corolla... posted earlier in another thread). this deck is 6.1" i think? dvd,usb,aux,ipod ready (came with all the cables to do the job too) all i had to do was buy a wiring harness from repco and solder it up. 2. installed yesterday/today: Kicker splits 6" hes also got a 12inch 1000watt sub in the back.. 4got the brand... the amp is situated under one of hte front seats.

I got a new widescreen monitor today... COMPAQ WF 1907. My pc didnt have the option of reaching the resolution that this screen requires. Right now my screen is set at the old screen's resolution 1280x768 @60Hz. My new screen's optimum resolution is 1440x900@60Hz. the drivers that i downloaded online for this screen dont even have the optimum setting! after installing the latest driver from the hp website, now the resolution options jump from 1280x768 to 1600x900..(roughly- i performed a system restore because i played around with the settings a bit too much). there is no way (as far as i can see) to manually set the screen resolution to exactly what i need! is there any other way besides via the display settings in the control panel to change the monitor settings???? HELP! im sick of looking at my screen being stretched out n not so in focus.

in the process of installing kicker splits in my brothers celica.. looking for "how to's" as i type this. couple days ago i installed a 2din dvd/usb/ipod/aux head unit in it.. how he wants me to finish the job.

lol or their printer ran out of ink or some stupid crap lol! anyways my modem has been reset so many times today after hanging @ 78% of the download of itunes. my modem is finally working properly and its only taking a minute or 2 to get to 80% .

ive just got one for my wife.. 8gig. at the moment.. or should i say the last couple hours ive been trying to download version 8 of itunes. still at 76% at the moment. y do you gotta have itunes in order to get this damn thing up and running?!?! until then, apparently i cant do anything more than make an emergancy call?! and whats up with the NO USER MANUAL in the box? too much stuff in the iphone to write about so they didnt bother making one or something?

I was pondering a hypothetical situation where my 1zz could possibly be swapped for a 2003 toyota rav4 2.0l vvt-i. rav4: Maximum power 110kW @ 6000rpm Maximum torque 192Nm @ 4000rpm (specs found HERE) compared to the 1.8 1zz... Maximum power 93kW @ 6000rpm Maximum torque 161Nm @ 4200rpm (specs found HERE) and then the 1.8 2zz... Maximum power 141kW @ 7800rpm Maximum torque 180Nm @ 6800rpm (specs found HERE) im not gonna pretend to be an expert when it comes to these sorts of numbers.. but how would this engine fare as a possible engine swap for the 1zz? ive got magazines where supra engines have been transplanted into a cressida (reference:fast fours magazine August 2008, pp106-109) and a hiace of all things(reference:ZOOM magazine, No.123, page 111)... so i guess you can fit any decent toyota engine into any toyota engine bay (with a bit of work)?! i understand when you look at the typical rav you dont think "performance" or "fast".. but my general understanding is that this 2.0l would be an impovement on the 1.8 1zz. on the other hand.. would it be worth the $$$ to do something like this? even though it is not a supra engine... (wouldnt want 1 though anyway)... i was only considering N/A engine upgrades that would < stock sportivo. (lol that sounds stupid for some reason) hard to compare since the 2.0 doesnt have lift, which would probebly be a deciding factor if the 2 went head 2 head... in my head, a 2.0L replacing the 1.8 makes sense? how would you think the rav4 engine would deal with the lighter weight of the corolla compared to the weight of the rav4?

id go for something more original... dont straight copy the trd vinyl, dont go for the typical ford type racing stripes either. go for something red, similar to TRD corolla but nothing SOO over the top... probebly on the sides only... asymmetrical type of design even.

if youre gonna do vinyl with that TRD badge on the grille you might as well go traditional red and white somehow... youre halfway there with the white.
