  1. That's putting the rolla at risk, if the exhaust or cai is filled with water, that's pretty f****
  2. I have peddars installed on zre 154, as below. Price is 2k mark include installation and wheel alignment. Don't put it too low as it really scratches a lot, I put it too low before and cannot even do normal driving, The picture below is my recommended height. it only scatches once some hump in westfield shopping centre, but so far so good..really have to watch out all the times. I have adjusted the stiffness to 0 at the back and 10 at front.. Setting 5 or even 10 at the back suspension will make your rear passenger sick, I have a passenger who wants to throw out after my slow ride (long straight, 60km/h in a rather bumpy concrete road in strathfield). I want to vomit as well (as a driver). Setting the suspension too hard is also bad in braking, coze when you are braking, and you hit a pop hole, it is so bumpy and your leg will leave the brake paddle for a while.. Also your bump is quite painful as well Handling is a lot better.. I don't like the original toyota suspension as the car is not that stable when the speed is above 100km/h in highway.
  3. I am on Royal Purple after my first 10000km service, my car is now 12xxxkm.. To tell you the truth, my feeling is so bad that I cannot feel a difference after running royal purple, I cannot even feel any difference after installing cat back system... I can only feel a SLIGHT difference after installing CAI Many people thinks after they change royal purple will improve performace, there might be slight, but I can hardly feel it, I think people tend to push their gas pedals more after changing to Royal purple, same as CAI, so people thinks their car has increased performance...There is some illusion there. Like after I change my CAI, i got 5-8KW increase, but that is just equivalent to 108KW, which is the same as Mazada 3, what can you expect from the 108KW engine, but our mind set thinks it is running like a performance car... My conclusion is, you can try different brands, but I doubt you can hardly feel it, unless proven by dyno...Many often, our mind just confuse us that after changing something, our car will be faster
  4. Why, I cannot find any data on this, almost 100kg heavier.. where are they coming from Comparing the three (all 1.8L manual) ZZE122R (Ascent): 1118kg kerb weight. ZZE123R ('03 Sportivo): 1224kg kerb weight. ZRE152R (Ascent): 1275kg kerb weight. Note: models higher than Ascent will be slightly heavier due to extra accessories etc.. Peter. Where is the extra weight coming from, 100+kg is not small, also I also find yaris is way heavier than startlet.. Did toyota change their materials? How come so heavy.... One thing, the reason I bought zre154 because when I drive zre122, the car felt really unstable during driving 100km/h even sitting with 5 ppl, but zre152 is more stable to drive... is this my ilusion.. My feeling is based on driving rental cars, so no modifcaitions at all...Is this my illsuion?
  5. I start to suspect those meters in the car are wrong.. I give you my example.. My car is zre154, I fuel up and paid 45L yesterday using caltex vortex, at the time I fuel up the car, it said i got only 17KM to drive. After I fuel up, the computer said I can run 568KM, but it also said my fuel consumption is 7.1 Using your calculator, the formula and figures just does not match. 568KM and 45L means the average fuel consumption is 45/568 * 100 = 7.922L per 100 km, but the meter said is 7.1, not 7.9, what a big difference... Last time, I fuel up the car, and BEFORE I PRESS THE FIRST GAS AFTER I FUELED UP, the fuel consumption drops from 7.7 to 7.6 by itself, at that point in time, I did not even move my car yet, wierld.. I remember I did ane experiment a long time ago, I use my TRIP meter on the right to compare the "kilometers left" on the left. In theory, the TRIP meter on the right is the most accurate measurement... and suprisingly, the TRIP meter is reporting the correct figures as compared to the "kilometers left"... that means that my car fuel consumption is actually way up higher that what is in reality.... I really want people to do more experiment about this and tell me which figures I should believe..Is toyota lying to me?
  6. Why, I cannot find any data on this, almost 100kg heavier.. where are they coming from
  7. That's massive... you must be driving very long distance all the time, 760km per tank, a dream for me !!
  8. It is starting to convince with as well after trying different brands of petrol, caltex vortex did give milegae
  9. How come went up, is that because you have changed your driving style to be more aggressive after changing CAI.. What is your average speed? coze fuel consumption changes with average speed, My fuel consumption was 7.9 when average speed is 22-24km/h, 7.5 when average speed is 30-32km/h btw, how did the other guy drive 12L per 100, he must be pushing his rev all the time
  10. I have installed injen CAI for one week, after running 1000KM later, the fuel economy has been increased signifcantly, not sure whether it is my illusion In the past Average speed 28.5 can only achieve 7.6 litres per 100km Now Average speed 28.5 can only achieve 7.2 litres per 100km, almost never happen after i bought the new car for half a year (I bought the car this feb), Before, 7.3/100 litre can only be achieved when the average speed is 32... I did not go to freeway, so speed always less than 90 most of the time And I have observed the fuel consumption during 60-80km/h, it saves up to almost 1 litre per 100km.. That's massive fuel saving I drive normally less than 2k RPM mark to keep a low fuel consumption, (CVT is doing <2k rpm most of the time to achieve fuel saving) Do you guys find CAI save heaps of petrol
  11. i did ask the police whether it is legal to put non factory built HID light during pullover, and he asked me to refer to RTA web site..he did not reply me on this.. can anyone found the relevant section in RTA site? If it is really illegal, the poilce will answer me "Yes, it is illegal", but he does not
  12. nice one!! is this lowered with springs or a coil over? grts My peddars coliver, cannot drop too low, otherwise cannot do street driving. I did drop too low before and scratch a lot
  13. What jack are u using to lift the car up? I have lowered suspension and cannot put my head underneath (bit scared)
  14. might help I am also having problems in removing ZRE154 bumper, but I think the way of unscrewing is similar to replacing foglights.. The procedure of replacing fog light is actually be found in the car menu... I also need more advice on this because I need to clean my CAI
  15. For second issue Either the battery or the power alternator I have my old volkswagehn where it does not start up, because of alternator failutre wheres the battery has enough power
  16. I remember me one service centre told me a normal service costs $280. That service centre probably does not understand what is a 100k service,
  17. My point is Corolla has been using CVT in Taiwan and Thailand, why the hell they keep the 4 speed auto here, even the rukus use 4 speed auto, a bizzare.. Sure CVT is not fun to drive, but sales will go up because of the fuel saving.. Many people here loves to have "fun driving", but it is a good replacement for auto and for majority of the people who does not like "fun driving". CVT will boost sales.. Corolla with CVT hit the top sales in Taiwan, blowing other competitors away, but here in Australia. Corolla is a bit boring to drive, very stingy on the accessories, and top model are unreasonably expensive.. for example, leather seats in corolla is not something special in Asia, but here, only the Corolla Ultima got it, even the moonroof.. Very very stingy on accessories in Australia. Not much Variety as well.. Corolla here has always been outdated with technology, not innovative compared to Asian countries
  18. In Taiwan, Toyota Corolla Altis is equipped with a CVT 7 speed, with 2.0 Litre Dual VVTi Engine, it posted very very good sales so far. This transmission saves fuel so much In Thailand http://au.toyotaownersclub.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=28980 Here explains http://www.jogjaspeed.com/2010/07/26/2011-grand-new-toyota-corolla-altis-review/ In youtube, (sorry, but it is in Chinese) explains the detailsIf you watch the video, the engine keeps the rpm at 1k to 2k rpm at all times for fuel economy I share this video because Australia is still using outdated 4 speed auto even for the Rukus (a Corolla Variant in other countries)
  19. Corolla Altis has paddle shift, CVT 7 speed transmission. Hope it will come to Australia. This car has been in other countries (such as Taiwan) for a while. Australia is always a step behind
  20. Any instructions to teach me how to remove bumber. Is it easier to remove the left bottom part (for installing foglight) rather than removing the bumper? Mine is ZRE-154, but i guess should be very similar. Have been searcing youtube for how to remove a corolla bumber, but the model was zre-122 sedan
  21. I just installed Injen CAI today How do we clean it, i dun want to unscrew the bumper again..Any easy way to clean it? How often should we clean it, given that I drive on normal road, not sandy and dusty roads? Thanks
  22. They introduce it because Mazda 3 got it. I am bit suprised Toyota has it, provided that it is stingy on these features...Combined with Rear manaul windows, the corolla is a mixed of old stuff and new stuff. I love the side mirros folding especially in parking very narrow space in parking because I can fold the mirror so that it won't hit the pole of the wall!!
  23. I have similar accident with my brand new corolla. Please take the spare tyre out to check whether the boot has bented. My spare tyre compartment is bit upside down. If so, some welding work is required and this will left permanent weld scar. I have fixed the car for $4500 which is crazy (the insurance companies pay for it). My car has no second hand component because it is too new and everything is from Toyota
