  1. Use header + air con, I used only air con before and I got a fever the next day when the temperature is 6 degrees raining.. Also, switch off the interal air circulation button (the recursive arrow key), this allows the cold air to come in My car is Ascent with traditional air con knobs, but not sure how climate control system works in conquest and levin
  2. In the following, the part number for struct brace is 935 540 A Which one is correct? and according to here, 935 540 A is for Blade, while 942 540 A is for Scion XD (Similar to Toyota Rukus here) http://www.rhdjapan.com/cusco-strut-bar-type-os-front-toyota-61303
  3. I have checked the Japanese manual, and they say the same thing... The HID should not go out that fast, you better brings to warranty and argue with them, because I believe they will use excuses not to do it for Free for you.. I do believe it is a quality of the malfunctioned HID. They are just bull**** of charging you
  4. Just finished my first time track day on Wakefield with re002 and A1RM brakes with my ZRE.. It was raining in the morning, my car tends to be bit oversteered.. The tires are really good in wet. Once oversteered, little correction can fix this.. but the car is not quite controllable and VSC saves me a lot of spinning.. when the track dried out, the car is just in balance (tiny oversteer which is just right for cornering), with the aid of the coliover... The tires are so good. In fact, my lap times are faster than many V8 because of the light weight of the car, and good tires The A1RM brake pads reduce so much braking distance, I will say 20% more than stock My final lap time is 1:20.2, which suprises many people, and because this is my first ever track day in my life and the track was wet in the morning, I can do half a second faster next time.. I will post the lap times for all participants once circuitclub publishes the time.. I saw some TOCA members there as well, and they have taken photos.. Also, I saw many V8 spining, and they have troubles in cornering due to heavy weight, they generate too much tire squeezing noise.. I just want to say Corolla is no longer for Westfield, it is for Wakefield !! I want to tell one message to many people. Technique of driving is more important than the power of the car, I have passed a few V8 over there.. My mods No rear seat, spare wheel cat back header intake pulley My set up peddars coliover, 30 front, 20 rear, no sway bar or anti roll bar... Suspension is stiff enough to tackle the S cornering there, just the right amount of body roll I want My Fastest speed is 140km/h on the straight I am going there again next month, interested to join? I am going to order a cusco front struct brace in order to prevent breaking the chasis, because there are few fast corner and one fast S corner at 120km/h From now on, I am driving slower than grand mum on the street, this is to keep the tyre wear and brake wear and I am not enjoyed anymore driving fast on the street Hmmm.. I want to say my driving skills on track day are mostly coming from computer games, I have played rfactor and GTR2 (with NAP mod to fix the tyre physics) for few years, they are realistic car similuations and I learned a lot of driving skills and car set up skills.. I can say, believe me or not, 70% of the driving skills are coming from those computer games.. but those games have a flaw, the model of drifting is not accurate, but for normal racing, it is quite realistic.. All pictures here http://forum.jdmstyletuning.com/showthread.php?35067-SYD-ACT-Circuit-Club-Queens-Bday-track-outing Check the photos here few days later http://circuitclub.com.au/event/18 My car is not in the picture because my car looks nothing special except lower than normal corollas, no big alloy, no spolier, and probably no one would ever think of my car is on the race track Session 1, while it is raining, and it is my first ever session, I am on 1:27 http://www.natsoft.com.au/cgi-bin/results.cgi?13/06/2011.WAKE.S1 Session 2, the track is almost dried out, I am on 1:20.98,3 v8 was behind me http://www.natsoft.com.au/cgi-bin/results.cgi?13/06/2011.WAKE.S2 Last session, After the instructor showing me the right racing line, and I am still learning, 1:20.1, http://www.natsoft.com.au/cgi-bin/results.cgi?13/06/2011.WAKE.S4 Combing all sessions http://www.natsoft.com.au/cgi-bin/results.cgi?13/06/2011.WAKE.S4.Y Regarding my exhaust noise, it is coming from the intake, not from the exhaust... The exhaust was done it in http://www.hitechmufflers.com.au/ for $800, I just want a cat back system at that time, not really interested in muffler at all. Ideally, I would like the muffler to make no noise, but it is not possible, so I ask them to put the not noisy ones there...I do find the noise annoying in daily driving...
  5. If it's pre mid '10'ish it's got the normal spin/on spin/off throwaway filter. After that they went to a replacement filter INSIDE the spin off outer canister. Apparently the canisters can "round off" very easily, so you must use the proper removal tool (about $25 off ebay). Be sure to clean inside the canister thoroughly (something my dealer cant be bothered to do) and remember to fit the new O ring supplied with the new filter ($22'ish from Toyota). Are these filter suitable for track days? Anyone can find aftermarket oil filter for this car? I am worrying about whether this kind of oil filter can do the job
  6. Just finished my track day on Wakefield with re002 and A1RM brakes with my ZRE.. It was raining in the morning, my car tends to be bit oversteered.. The tires are really good in wet. Once oversteered, little correction can fix this.. but the car is not quite controllable and VSC saves me a lot of spinning when the track dried out, the car is just in balance (no oversteer or understeer), with the aid of the coliover... The tires are so good. In fact, my lap times are faster than many V8 because of the light weight of the car, and good tires I have a very fast and tight S cornering in 120km/h at dry and the tires are responsive The A1RM brake pads reduce so much braking distance, I will say 20% more than stock My final lap time is 1:20.1, which suprises many people, and because this is my first ever track day in my life, I can do half a second faster next time.. I saw some TOCA members there as well, and they have taken photos.. Also, I saw many V8 spining, and they have troubles in cornering due to heavy weight, they generate too much tire squeezing noise.. If you are looking for A!RM brakes, only use them on track mostly. According to Greg in GSL, if you use it hard on the street, you would likely to see rotor change at 15K -20K km, plus, what is the point of pushing hard on the street if you track the car once a month !! I still use car everyday in work but I drive it like a grandmum...HPX is the one you should use if you only drive hard on the street with no track work according to Greg
  7. Just installed re002 to replace my ku31 on my ZRE, I did not change my RIM My size is 205/55 R16, I do not want to go to 17 or larger due to weight.. Got a good deal from Tmart Bob Janes, $179 per tyre.. The tyre generates much less noise than my KU31, I have absolutly nothing on my boot, no spare, no carpets, and no back seat, the sound reduction is prominent I cannot compare the two tyres grip because forgot the feeling of KU31 when it was new. but I read heaps of review and the re002 is really good.. The side wall of re002 is definitely much more stiff and responsive, .. although I have put 38psi instead of 36psi on my KU31, I don't think it is the factor of giving me this feeling. Going to track (wakefield) on monday, and the weather is not looking good in Sydney, I hope that I am not testing the tyres on wet condition.. I have also replaced my brake pad to QFM A1RM and the braking power is crazy, the stock one did not do a good job in emergency braking, especially with 5 people with downhill, and I almost crash.. This A1RM will definitely gives me confidence. I pay for 169 per pair
  8. Out of topic, disel engine works with vege oil (not as an engine oil, but as fuel).. Fifth gear has a episode talking about it
  9. The difference from 6-7 to 11 is quite huge.. Does you car got an instant fuel consumption display on your dashboard my facelift corolla do around 5L/100km if your speed is steady at 60km/h for driver only at flat surface at 6th gear, if you are doing 7L at that speed, your car for sure have a problem.. Tyre pressure will only affect less that 0.1, and since you are doing steady speed, driving habit is not considered into the equation 11L is way too much even for city driving
  10. Where is the driver seat coming from, I have been looking for light weight seat option
  11. A normal adult weighs? Stock Sportivo rims are about 8kg each. 17x7 for Enkei GETC is 7.93 each, so you save 0.07kg per wheel
  12. I am going to Wakefield on 13/6. I have removed back seat, very easy, saving 15-20kg, if you want to put it back, it is also very easy as well.. I have removed spare wheel and jack, and the tools at the back, very easy, but please make sure you buy a can of tyre gas to pump up the car in the petrol station in case of flat tyres. Please also put back the spare tyre in long trip. it saves 20kg I will buy a light weight battery, my preference is odyssey pc680, it is expensive, but it will last for 8-12 years. That saves me 10kg, but you cannot use any large output audio system Remove all the plastic at the back I will never use 17 or 18 wheels coze they are too heavy, our zre output is not high, heavier wheel will be slowing acceleration. I use 16 I cannot remove the front seat coze the seat belt sensor is hardwiredm otherwise 15 kg can be saved The end result is very prominent and noticable, especially your tank is 1/4 full, using the power to weight calculator in http://www.ajdesigner.com/phphorsepower/horsepower_equation_power_to_weight_ratio.php You will have 3-4 kw increase You better have a coilover because the balance of the car will be gone.. I won't use any aftermarket anti roll bar because I want the front to be soft, otherwise, too much understeering.. The rear suspension is already hard enough. If the track has too many S cornering, I might consider an anti roll bar, otherwise, they just increase weight, and I do not ride on bumps on the track, a hard suspension is good enough to resist excessive body roll I played a lot of computer games simulation in the past (GTR2 and rfactor), it gives me a lot of insights of setting up a car in the track This old mazda saves 4 seconds in 0-100 run, decreasing from 11.5 seconds to 7.9 seconds, but you won't remove that much because you still want the car to be practical http://www.topgear.com/uk/photos/how-fat-is-your-car As the article suggest, the track time does not increase because the car is out of balance. Because I am using a coilover, I soften the rear suspension http://www.planet-9.com/cayman-boxster-competition/19670-lightweight-deka-battery-track.html http://www.importmodifications.com/integraweightreduction.html A good article of tuning an integra.. The power to weight ratio is the most important part. Download the wheel weight data in here http://www.wheelweights.net/wheel-weight-weight.xls Light weight wheel will only save 1-2 kg per wheel, you have to judge whether it worth it, With Enkei GTC, the 17x7 weights 7.93kg, the stock mx5 16x6.5 is 8.18kg (this one contains many spokes), with the less spoke ones, it wights 7.27kg... http://www.miata.net/faq/wheel_weights.html wheel weight for mx5 Below shows all the tire spec, including weight and treadwear, basically, a 16 inch tire weight 10kg and 17 inch for 11kg, it got good review as well http://www.tirerack.com

  14. I think it is a good idea to meet each other corolla, should we meet somewhere else first and go?
  15. Oh, it is you.. I have paid attention to that car and wonder who it belongs to haha is that a good thing? I should say hi to you on that day, since not many corollas there. hmm... it is a very personal thing My car is very stock with 16 toyota alloy wheels, no spolier, no skirt... I am only interested in suspesnion and engine mod!! I like it to be stock, looks quite good already.. but again, it is a very very personal thing...
  16. Oh, it is you.. I have paid attention to that car and wonder who it belongs to
  17. Think it is a stock corolla, coze of no exhaust noise After watching this video and reading the dyno graph posted by another memeber jonnieboi, I am very confused about the drive chain loss percentage in dyno. I have put my points in here
  18. I am looking for Deka ETX16L. It saves around 10kg compared to stock battery. You can buy it here http://www.batterymart.com.au/dispdet.php?idw=0912040841358142# but is it easy to install or do i need a special mount? The same battery found in Honda Civic EK6 in JDM Yard Sydney http://www.jdmyard.com/catalog09/deka/ I do not have any aftermarket audio system or special alarm system...so it should be ok, but I am worried about the installation
  19. Just get a reply from QFM > A1RM to suit would be a custom order, so need to allow 3-4 weeks, and > $179 per set front or rear. Shipping is free when you order front and > rear pads together, or else $8 per axle set individually. > > Easiest way to order is credit card over the phone, 1300 884 836, or > else swing me your details, full name and delivery address (preferably a > work or business address!!) and I can fire you through an invoice with > direct deposit details. I have done several emergency braking on the street and I do think the brakes are weak. However, I cannot find any braking distance chart to support my arguments, anyone can tell me the ZRE braking distance?
  20. I have searched for anyone modifying the brake pad for stronger performance especially for track day.. I would love to have QFM A1RM brake pads but not sure whether it is available for ZRE... Anyone take their ZRE to track? what brake pads are you using? I am planning to take the car to track day just for fun I don't like the factory brake pads anyway. The factory brakes for the ZRE is too weak, even for street driving..
