  1. Is this the same all new 1.8 that will be in the all-new Corolla?
  2. Yes the gurgle is only air in the pipes, eventually it works its way to the purge/filler tank. Unlike old cars, you can only really top up with coolant not water to avoid corrosion and build up in the cooling galleries. The Toyota Original coolant is recommended.
  3. The problems with copies are: Many times they're passed off as originals. An importer of dodgy copies usually purchases a container load of them, but then will place a couple of sets of originals in the front so the shipment looks like they're all originals. Copies of original wheels are usually made from very poor quality materials (think melted down pots and pans). Copies are on many occassions made in sizes that the original design was never designed to be produced in - therefore making it inherently weak. For example, the manufacturer will look at a wheel that was only supposed to be made in 16" max, but make 18's using the same design only because it looks cool. So beware, firstly when buying very cheap wheels, you are indeed paying for what you get, and secondly, check that what you have purchased is in fact an original. The manufacturer should always have an embossed or laser etched brand name somewhere on the wheel.
  4. Top right would look insane, would also hide brake dust on days when you feel a bit lazy :D

    MPH/KMH

Not on the Stivo because of the Optitron (Is that what it's called?) dials.
  10. I'm not so sure I like the black lip on the wheels, I think the current polished lip is quite a high light of your car. The rest of your plans look good though.
  11. Hmm boy hasn't this one gone off topic ......

Care to explain what exactly Salad dodging is ...
  13. Try Protech Tyres Ferntree Gully Road Oakleigh. Ask for John or Corey, they should be able to fit, align and balance and their prices should be reasonable (03) 9569 0833 cheers
  14. Wow you still have it??? It's a good looking car - can't understand why you still have it Maybe return to stock for a better sale.
  15. Just remember all awards have different testing, criteria and different categories. So they're not all equal. Also remember that in terms of new advances in Australian built cars - The humble Commodore had lead the way with every All new model they introduced. In the case of the VR, it was the first Aussie built car to feature front airbags, pretentioning belts etc, so it was a big advance in safety. Likewise the VE brings advances for Aust built family cars.
  16. But in the article, they do state these things such as crappy engine noise from v6, no aircon in base omega, etc etc. It's not all praise, But the car did score highly on the basis that it does very well in areas such as design, safety, ride/handling, performance, fulfillment of intended function/design and Value. All the judges (Both Male and Female) all get to vote on the set criteria for each car. The car that scores the most wins.
  17. You are wrong on about twenty counts. For starters, the VE Commodore SS won... it wasnt the VE range, as Holden is now marketing, if they had entered say the SV6, it wouldnt have even made the cut off let alone top 3. Secondly, I have said the SS is a good car, but in most categories the Aurion is equal with it, I can see only one major area where they differ (and it isnt power.... the SS is like 1sec quicker to 100km/h - remember its got 70kw more, but also 300kg extra to pull around), fuel consumption. And in todays climate, I find it very hard to believe that a gass guzzler which consumes fuel no better then cars 10 years ago can be our car of the year No You're wrong. Read the article The Wheels Car of the Year award tests an Entire Range of a model!!! So the award went to the VE Commodore SWB range covering all variants - Omega, Berlina, SV6, SS, SSV, Calais, CalaisV & HSV's. So it wasn't the SS that won, It was the VE Commodore range.

  21. My opinion is, these people drive all manner of cars for a living. Not just drive, but test the limits of the cars. All day, every day. So I think they may know a thing or two about the things and may know what's good and what's bad. So I would trust their opinions over anyone elses. Some of you are just sore that the 'bogans' car won. But read the article and you will see why the Commodore range won over the Aurion range.

    my new grill

Just paint the mesh flat black. It's a small grill so it wont get that many stone-chips and if it does, touch it up.
  23. I would look into prices for a reco-changeover gearbox and then compare to prices of rebuilding your current gearbox and then go with whichever is cheaper. Either way won't be cheap but shop around and you should find reasonable prices.
  24. There will also be the introduction of a lower spec version (Think Base WRX specs) which will be equiped to price directly with the base WRX, I've seen pics and it's only a slightly toned down version of the Evo (Smaller wing/wheels etc) where as the Evo as pictured above will still carry more power and all the really good driveline goodies.
