  1. Hahahaha. Great to hear guys, job well done. It's pretty funny that it went from 3 clips/screws to 6, then to 8. The challenge is on! Can anyone find 10 clip/screws to remove just to change the parker lights.
  2. Hi Wildseven This is how I did it step by step, it should only take you about 10 minutes per side. If you want the greatest access to your parker lights, there are 6 clips/screws to remove. 1) Turn the wheel out fully out (facing you) to make access easier for the next step. 2) Remove the 2 screws on the inside, these attach the panel to the car, you can't miss them (Refer to the lasertip's photo above in step 3 - he circled the top screw as number 3 and the other screw is below that) 3) Once you remove these 2 screws, turn the wheel fully in, this will allow the greatest access to remove everything else and to access the parker lights. 4) Remove clips (these are marked 1 and 2 in lasertip's picture above) 5) Remove the 2 screws at the bottom Once you do all this, the panel will be very loose and you will have access to parker lights. In saying that it's still a little cozy up there and you will only be able to put one hand up there. I found using a torch helped. Failing all that. I live in WA but am flying to QLD for some training in a few weeks time. I'll gladly change the lights for you for a good local beer.
  3. First of all, great tutorial lasertip, thank you for making things easier for everyone. 'The drake', if you're still having problems accessing the parker lights after removing the 3 screws on the wheel arch panel, you can do what I did which was to remove an additional 2 screws at the very bottow of the wheel arch. These 2 screws hold the the wheel arch panel to the bottom of the bumper and once you remove these screws, you'll find you can move the wheel arch panel aside much more for greater access. I recently had to change the parker lights and chose to install white LED's, my personal opinion is that they are more for looks than lighting effectiveness. The white light certainly looks cooler but I would say the standard bulbs are more visable during low light settings. Once the LED's stop working, I will likely switch back to standard bulbs.
  4. I also own a Presara and I think you answered your question in the first sentence, 'i own an aurion presara for almost 3 years now, i've never had any chance to use toyota link service in the past 3 years' I purchased my used Presara about 18 months ago and didn't bother to continue the Toyota Link service as the cost did not warrant the potential benefits and the chance to use any if it's services. Remote door unlock: You can't lock a Presara if you have the smartkey in the car. When you press the button to lock it, the car will beep loudly to warn you that your keys are still in the car. Roadside assistance: If it's just roadside assistance you're after, the RAC equivalent would be cheaper. Low battery reminder: I can't justify spending $240 for someone to remind me that I battery is running low. I would rather just experience the inconvenience of a dead battery every couple of years and replace it then. Car tracking: Sounds like a great idea but what are the chances? As I mentioned earlier, not once have I ever thought I needed Toyota Link but I guess if you wanted extra peace of mind for $240, go for it.
  5. I live in WA and there's nothing on the Dept. of Transport website to indicate whether they are legal or not. I will try to call to check during the week but I don't see any difference with having white park lights and cars with daytime running lights
  6. If you believe bad luck comes in 3, then I would recommend giving your Aurion some extra care in the coming days. Just 48 hours after I sent my sympathy to Trdman, some a..ehole scraped my Presara leaving nasty marks on the bumper and knocking out one of the parking sensors. It was parkside roadside at the time and of course the low life did not leave a note. Some people have no respect....
  7. Thanks guys, this forum is invaluable. I've order these: http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/T10-SMD-5050-super-white-LED-bulb-globe-TOYOTA-CAMRY-AURION-parkers-/150848801982?pt=AU_Car_Parts_Accessories&hash=item231f4a0cbe The white LED seem a bit more modern than the current yellow/orange colour. I will do another post once installed.
  8. Recently, I've noticed the left park light on my Presara has been playing up and I wonder if anyone else in this forum has had the same issue. The light does not turn on straight away however it does turn on after I bump the headlight unit. It only takes the slightest of bump/tap and the light swicthes on and stays on. I can then switch it on and off with no problem however if I leave it off for a few minutes the same issue happens again. I've checked the bulb and connection and they both seem fine, the bulb is obviously not blown as it still works and the connections seem solid. I can't imagine my tap/bump is knocking something into place as it is the same pressure as a light flick of a finger. My questions are: - Has anyone else had the same issue and solution? - Would replacing the bulb fix the issue, considering the existing bulb has not blown yet? Thanks guys.
  9. Not cool at all. I hope that person catches up with Karma fairly soon.
  10. They maybe for looks but you've gotta say, it's a nice look.
  11. I bought them here. I doubled checked with the seller prior to purchase due to my previous expensive mistake, the seller was very prompt and helpful with communication. http://www.ebay.com....=item1e670150cf Postage took about 2 weeks from US to Perth and as I mentioned before, they were just as good as the originals fitted and no issues so far. Oh, I forgot to add. If you can't wait for shipping, you can buy it direct from Toyota Parts.....Cost? $450 for one!!!! 900 big ones for a pair and that's not including fitting, that another $200. Even the Toyota rep was shaking his head in disbelief when he saw the prices on the screen.
  12. I totally agree with Adamsy opinion, buying geniune the first time will save you a lot of time and trouble in the long run. I own a Presara and it is a complete pain in the a..e to change the bulbs. I have posted about it before. I went on ebay and bought what I thought were geniune Phillips 4300 bulbs (total cost for 2 including shipping was about $100). They were CRAP! They started to flicker almost immediately, were less bright then the existing old ones I had and would turn off after 5 minutes. Turns out they were fakes which annoyed me because I was paying a bit more to get real ones. The ebay owner was nice though, he apologised and sent me 2 new fake ones! HAHAHA, I still have them if anyone wants them, happy to give away. Long story short, I ended up buying another set of genuine Philips bulbs and made 100% sure with the seller. (total cost including shipping was about $150). Perfect, no issues and no stress.
  13. I bought the 4300's, I don't know too much about the different types of globes so I went with the same ones that were originally fitted and yes the high beam bulbs were behind the cover as well.
  14. G'day everyone. I'm really happy to announce it is possible to change the HID bulbs on a Presara without removing the bumper. YES, it was a pain in the axxe but with the right tools, it is definitely possible. All you need to do is to remove the 4 screws that cover the back of the headlight unit, reach in to remove the bulb, replace it and then screw the cover back on. It took my friend and I about an hour to replace both bulbs. I read somewhere in this forum that if you're going to replace one bulb, you may as well replace both, otherwise the the bulb colours will be different. (By the way I bought the bulbs here: http://stores.ebay.com.au/Wholesale-Xenon-Lights-Store/_i.html?_fsub=896948012) It's either the above method or: 1) Remove the entire front bumper to remove the headlight unit and then.... 'remove the 4 screws that cover the headlight unit, reach in to remove the bulb, replace it and then screw the cover back on' 2) Have Toyota do it - they quoted me $480 for ONE bulb, $960 for 2 plus $210 installation,
  15. Cheers for the information, much appreciated. I too have to remove the bumper to change the HID low beam bulb. I've ordered the bulbs from the net and awaiting delivery. I called up Toyota in Osbourne Park for a quote, it was $480 for 1 bulb and an extra $210 to install it.
  16. You'll find that the price for that listing; Garax is a misprint. It is supposed to be $89.95. Garax D4S 6000K - USD$89.95 Nokya D4S 6000K - USD$99.95 Philips D4S 4300K - USD$139.95 Osram/Sylvania D4S 4300K - USD $144.99 MTEC D4S 6000K -USD$99.95 There seems to be no more listings for the Toshiba globes anymore (which are the current bulbs Toyota are using) Edit: There is one listing for Toshiba D4S 4300K Thanks for that extra information, it seems the Toyota quotes as mentioned above ($400 and $600) must include fitting then? I've had a quick look through the workshop instruction manuals for changing the lights and it looks as though you'd need to dismantle quite a few things to get to the globe. I'll give Toyota a call tomorrow to get a quote on just the globe and the globe with fitting. Even the most expensive globe quoted above is hundreds cheaper then what Toyota advised firezuki and fuel miser.
  17. Can someone clarify why there is such a big price difference? I have a '07 Presara and it seems the right low beam globe is not working. I've established I need a D4S globe and I checked with Supercheap Auto and Repco after work today and they didn't stock it. I haven't even looked into instructions on how to actually change the globe yet but the lighting unit looks like Fort Knox! What I don't understand is the huge difference in globe prices (assuming that's all I need to replace) The link to 'EBAY: D4S Toshiba OEM Bulbs ' showed the globes as about $35 The link to 'Garax 6000K D4S,' showed the globes at $890!! and Toyota was quoting $600 I guess for me, all I want to do is have 2 low beam lights that work so I don't get pulled over by the cops at night. I'm hoping once I get the globes and find the instructions, things should be easy as...well...changing a light bulb but can anyone explain why the bulbs vary from $35 to $890???
  18. The sensor is at the top centre of the windscreen next the rear view mirror. If the rain sensor tape is missing, the sensor will look very clear. The tape, which is essential for the sensor to work, is slightly opaque. I posted some pics in tis previous post about the same issue. Hopes this helps/
  19. I purchased my 2007 Aurion Presara 18 months ago with 81K on the clock. Its at 103K now and there's has been no issues at all. Great car.
  20. Yeah, the ECU/Mayday battery seems unlikely now. My friend, who also had a Presara, remembered how it used to beep once as he touched the door handle to unlock the car and then open the door. I checked the car over the weekend to make sure nothing was open or loose. The car only beeped if I touched the driver's side to open the door. It didn't beep when I touched the passenger side or used the remote to unlock the doors prior to opening. It's not a big deal, just a mystery why it started all of a sudden. I think it was always suppose to beep but just remembered to do so. Can I ask the Presara drivers out there, your car beeps as you touch the driver door handle and open the door? or is my car special. Cheers guys.
  21. Thanks guys for your advice and proving again what a great forum this is. Nice link by the way DJKOR on the ‘Unknown beeping’…did you notice that was also started by me? :-) To the best of my memory the only time the car beeps at the very beginning when the door opens is: - If there were a change of drivers and the seats are adjusting or - a longer warning beep and message on dash board to advise the sunroof is open. Other than that and ever since I deactivated the Toyotalink 12 months ago, it’s been completely quiet with unlocking and opening the door. It would make complete ‘Toyota sense’ to beep once as the driver unlocks and opens the door and advise the driver , in fact, he has just unlocked and opened the door but as I mentioned, this only started a couple of days ago. It would also make sense if it were the back up battery for the Toyotalink thingy, it has been 4 years. Will keep you all posted.
  22. The Toyotalink was deactivated a year ago. So maybe the battery then, it's the only variable I can think of. I might give the car a thorough once over on the weekend and see if I can find the cause, maybe the battery, maybe I've left something open ...dunno. The car has just decided to play the 'What am I thinking game and I'll give you a clue - beep'.
  23. Hi I was wondering if the members of this great forum could help with a mysterious beep my car started making recently whenever I unlocked and opened the door. I have a 2007 Presara model with keyless entry and whenever I open the door it beeps once. There no warning message on the dashboard and no indication as to why this unexplained beep has started all of a sudden after 1 year of silence. The closest ‘explained beep’ I can think of is when there has been a change of drivers and the same beep sounds once to advise the seats are adjusting to the new driver but it beeps even if I am the same driver and have not adjusted the seats during my last drive. I am just a little perplexed… low battery? software glitch? I just have no idea.
  24. G'day and welcome, I have also found this site to be of great use and a fantastic source of information. I purchased a 2007 Aurion Presara in March 2010, it had been registered for just on 3 years and the orginal owner had clocked about 81,000km on it at time of purchase. It was used as a business car and the high kilometres were as a result on lots of country driving. The owner was able to show the full service history (completed at Toyota servicing), the car was not modified in any way and everything seemed to be in working order. I'm happy to say the car has been a dream and completely hassle free, not a single problem all. I gave it a minor service at 85000km just to make sure I didn't buy a lemon and it recently had a 900000km major service. Both reports were fine, the car is still in great condition. My only advice regarding the km's would be to ask how they were accumalated i.e. Was a it a taxi, police car or rent-a-car in its fromer life? I would probably tend to avoid these as I can only imagine how well they were treated. I would also make sure everything was in working order i.e. log book service and any repairs/mods. An ATX is a fairly basic model so there isn't much to go wrong but it's worthwhile avoiding this sort of mistake - http://au.toyotaownersclub.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=30324&st=0&p=421624&fromsearch=1entry421624 All the best.
