  2. I'm a mechanical fitter by trade and work in the mining industry as a Workshop Supervisor Colour depends on where you are. Everyone across site (except for office workers) have to have reflective strips, regardless. Underground guys wear orange for obvious reasons. On the surface, it depends on the department and what the manager calls. I wear navy trousers with orange shirt, so do my guys, but the fabrication guys wear all navy as the orange shirts deteriorate fast due to the light given off from welding. weird, i know. Our Building Services dept (chippies, refrig mechs, plumbers and sparkies) wear light blue shirts with navy trousers. I dont know of any set 'code' for uniform colour, but it would depend on the business owner more than anything.
  3. I'd like to see this thread kick off again, I'm all for playing around with exhaust systems lol. I have a funny feeling I know what is causing your error codes to show, it would be interesting to check out this experimental system.
  4. And then this. http://news.ninemsn.com.au/world/1064424/woman-takes-off-from-airport-in-her-car You'll near wet your pants when you read the story.

The extractors are fitted, they look great and taking the first 2 cats out has given it a bit more growl. It goes very well, this thing gets better all the time.
  7. Crap about the damage mate, but the car looks good, real good. If I were up for a sedan, one of these would be on the cards. It'd stay stock for about 10 minutes too lol
  8. Thats pretty crazy. I paid $360 USD for a full K & N Intake kit for the hilux, tube, shroud and pod filter. You would be crazy to pay anything over $60 for a spin on filter, unless it was for a Veyron or something ha ha
  9. Checking back in. This thread gets better all the time. Commodores are a good beginners car, cheap as ****, pretty easy to work on. But a pregnant elephant would get off the line faster than a stock V6. Do your exhaust and **** mate, learn whats cool and whats not (you've hit all the wrong targets so far lol) and then you can go to a car thats worthy. Thats my opinion.
  10. This is an awesome thread. Your V6 is a powerhouse aye? They need boost. If it's got pistons, it needs some atmosphere pushed down its neck. Just ask me :)

Took the hilux out for a couple of shows on the weekend, picked up Best Commercial on saturday then slid into the Runner Up - Best 4x4 spot on sunday. Was a good weekend, have another show on the 12th June, will let you guys know of mods before then...
  12. Went to a Ute show yesterday and took out 'Best Commercial' I used Meguiars Clay Bar on friday afternoon and I must say, it is fantastic. I also used some Swirl-X, great stuff as well. Followed by some carnauba wax and the hilux was glowing! So easy to keep clean now.
  13. Thanks Mick, I'll get in and have a look at them today.
  14. Don't apologise, everyone has the right to speak their mind. Can anyone help?

Thanks for the encouragement guys. I have some more :D toys on the way, going to see if I can squeeze the most out of what I have. I'm also looking at something else which may be extremely beneficial, but I'll keep you guys updated as that happens.
  16. Hi guys, as the title states, I'm having dramas finding a tach signal wire or pinout to tap into for an aftermarket shift light. If it makes any difference, its a 2009 TRD Hilux with a supercharged 1GR-FE engine and A750F trans... Thanks in advance for your help!!!!!
  17. This has been a good read, mate. One question though, placement of the cat converter, are you going to get it emission tested? it looks like it is a long way back from the engine and could take a long time to flash up if at all... Other than that, it looks like an animal! :)
  18. G'day Goody. I had an '04 SR5 Turbo Diesel Dual Cab. Brilliant vehicle. Only issue I had was that you needed fairly regular wheel alignments to get your tyres to last. As for the engines performance, it was good, did everything i asked of it, pulled some very heavy loads on some long distance trips. Saying that, it was the non-intercooled version (i think the prado at the time had an intercooler) so if I were in your shoes, I would definitely look for a turbo, but obviously one that has been maintained. Then i would fit an intercooler for sure. But as taco said, you have to weigh up what you want it for and what you want it to do.
  19. Anyone that has to tell you that a turbo is 'properly balanced', isn't worth buying from.
  20. I even took the embed code straight from youtube and it still wouldnt happen...whats the go?
