  1. Is this a keyless start Aurion? Might just be climate control system resetting itself?
  2. You're probably best off taking it to a tyre shop (bob Jane's, tyrepower, etc etc) and get them to fix the puncture. Yes it's a puncture. The only reason why your tyre hasn't gone flat so quickly was because the nail is acting like a plug at the moment. If you pull it out, there'll be nothing plugging the hole and all your air will escape.
  3. Heh heh.... what about AVGAS 100LL? That's got an octane rating of 126 or something. Pretty sure that the ECU can theoretically adjust to use this fuel. The cooling system probably won't hack it though. I wonder what performance would you get..........?
  4. Congrats on the purchase. p.s. my wooden go kart had mad handling as well, one of the perks of having a slow moving vehicle. LOL @ HT
  5. Nope, it uses a timing chain. Refer to a previous discussion here. Cheers, BB
  6. At work, we recently handed in an Aurion ATX back to the lease company (lease was up) and picked up a new Aurion to replace it. The old ATX (standard white plain jane 2008 model) left us when it had 127,000 or so kms on it. The only thing we ever had wrong with it was a slight water leak in the boot area and a faulty glove box latch. Nothing really really major though. Even at that many k's on the clock, and it having multiple drivers with different driving styles, it was still running like a dream when we handed it back. The exterior and interior just looked a bit tired from the normal wear and tear. Oh.. the RAC was called for assistance once, only because the numpty driving it at the time was too slack to pull into a gas station to fill it up. I think if the vehicle has a full service history, is accident free and checks out mechanically, you should be fine. It's not too far fetched to say you'll probably get at least another 5 years of trouble free motoring out of it. At the rate we're going, you're probably better off worrying about how much petrol is going to cost in 5 years :P . My money is on $3++ a litre for unleaded. Cheers, BB
  7. Sounds like the fuel level float may have stuck at the level it was displaying. Could possibly have been a once off thing. I guess you will find out. It's not something I'd have expected from a Toyota though. Something like this happened to me once in a Lada Niva. Russian piece of doo doo. Turd on wheels. Built solid as a brick though.:P . Unfortunately it was a chick repellant, rather than a magnet.
  8. Sounds like the fuel level float may have stuck at the level it was displaying. Could possibly have been a once off thing. I guess you will find out. Hence my previous comment: Dude, you're very knowledgeable about the Aurions. You must be an automotive engineer or something. Love your work!
  9. I've just filled my 3rd tankful of 91 RON. I have been using 98 RON since picking up the car, brand new from the Dealer. I have not driven the car any differently, and have been going through the usual day to day travelling. There is BUGGER ALL difference. To me, 91 RON, 98 RON, whatever it don't make no difference. Feeling quite pi$$ed that I've been spending extra cash on so called "Premium" fuel when there's no difference. The car runs the same, accelerates the same, there's no discernible difference. Goes to show how effective good marketing BS can be. Fuel consumption (average) on 98 RON : 10.45 L/100km Fuel consumption (average) on 91 RON : 10.18 L/100km
  10. That's because they're probably not road legal here in Oz. Damn ADR Nazis.
  11. Maybe it's knocking/pinging? Have you tried using Premium unleaded to see if you still have the same issue? Might need to get it to a service center so they can plug the lappie into the computer and make some adjustments or do whatever magic they do to make the car run sweet. Might even be a bung sensor feeding bad info to the engine management system?
  12. More importantly, there's STILL not enough cupholders! :P
  13. Great work! A 10db difference is huge. Excuse my ignorance, but with the whee wells did you apply it on the outside? If so, are there any issues with it such as pealing off? No i took the wheel off then all the plastic. I got the gurney and blasted the area clean and then stuck it on. And no i will not peal off, once it is on it is fairly perminent
  14. Dan, 100W HID may be too OTT. You'd definitely need to take extra care to have the low beams aimed low or at least have some sort of automatic leveling device installed. 35W is bright, 55W is bewdiful, but 100W might be too much. Imagine if you had 5 ppl in the car, or heavy stuff in the boot, your low beams would be a serious road hazard and you'll most likely get in trouble with the cops too. 100W HID is probably good if you're landing a plane on a poorly lit runway on a moonless night. :P
  15. Actually I had just filled my car up with Shell V-Power 98 RON and I can say it isn't all that cracked up to begin with. True you might get a bit more performance out of it but it comes at an expense to fuel economy. I agree with that spreadsheet above here. I had 91 RON from Shell 3 weeks ago and it lasted me that long for 3 weeks around town! I am switching back to Shell 91 RON then BP Ultimate to "clean" the interior then switch back to 91 RON and so on. Waitaminute. I'm confused now. Do you consume less fuel over the same distance if you use 91 RON as opposed to 98 RON? I thought with the higher octane rating, you use less? Anyway with Shell V-Power 98 RON fluctuating between $1.07 and $1.25 per litre, I'm probably going to start using 91 RON more and more now. Fuel costs are starting to get stupid :( . Where do you live? I'm lucky to get 91 without E10 for $1.35! Sorry, I should clarify that I was referring to what's shown on fuel card transaction records for a novated lease Aurion.
  16. They probably had an noob apprentice a$$hat working on your car that day. :P

  18. I certainly agree Hmm.... I kinda like the idea of ABS, VSC, TC, SRS etc being there in the background as backup in case I need extra help in an emergency situation..... I mean you obviously don't RELY on these saving your ar$e, but it's good to have just in case. I wouldn't want cars to be built like the holden kingswood where you got no modern driver assist technologies whatsoever. A person in one of those in a crash is like a soft boiled egg in a metal box that got dropped. The box may or may not have some damage, but if you look inside, what used to be an egg is now a gooey splattered, mangled mess. Yeah, nah. Gimme all the gizmos and do-hickeys and driver assist technolomologies ya got! :P Then what happens to the skill of driving? Nothing, everybody on the road should learn how to drive properly. The point is, these are driving AIDS, not Autopilots. These technologies should be in place not so much to save the hoon driver who's being an absolute turkey on th roads, but the poor schmuck who's staring down the barrel of being a road fatality statistic through no fault of their own.. If the poor schmuck's vehicle has ABS, TC, VSC etc, he/she'd have a better chance (however slim it may be) of getting out of a situation that's going to get very very bad very very very quickly. If driver assist technologies provides you with and extra few moments to regain control, I think it's something worth having. Don't really care about the hoons who end up killing themselves. It's natural selection. We should all thank them for removing themselves from the collective gene pool so their stupidity cannot be passed on. My 2.5 c worth, again, indexed for quarterly inflation figures released by the RBA. BB PS. Last night I got stuck in a massive traffic jam on Roe Highway just past the South St offramp westbound. Eventually drove past a mangled wreck of what was once a Supra (I think). Roof was caved in, and what's left of the car was all twisted and decimated. Looked like the fireys also used the jaws of life. I think it was a single vehicle rollover. Definitely a fatality, in my opinion. Betcha excessive speed and possibly alcohol was involved. I laughed at the fact we've got one less of these oxygen thieves on the road. Didn't look like any other car was involved. Judging from the damage on the vehicle and how far the debris trail stretched, the git was definitely doing way way way over the speed limit. Race car driving EPIC FAIL. LOL

  20. Agreed. Very nice. It does look largely similar to the current Presara's interior so that's gotta be good . Black on wood looks noiiiiiice!
  21. There was a link above the photo which contains some more photos of the whole car both dropped on it's bags or sitting higher. I just put that one photo there cause I like that particular one. On a side note, one thing in particular that your post has reinforced is just how much this all comes down to personal tastes. Whilst one may find something to be badly executed in their eyes, someone else may see differently. Apart from those that blatantly f*** up the look of their car, everyone that modifies their car is going to have those that like and those that dislike. After all, what's the point being individual if you try to satisfy someone else's preferences. What sh*** me off the most are those that don't respect someone else's decision. Like those people that knock on your door trying to make you believe. LOL sorry dude.... missed the link C O M P L E T E L Y!!!!! Okay, I had a look. Color rocks, just as I thought. Wheels are good, but not exactly poppin, or stunning to say the least. Body kit wise, looks alrightish and very clean flowy lines. Only problem (to me that is), is that it doesn't look like it's sitting right. Too low, or camber looks off. Specifically, have a look at :- Umm.... why have nice wheels if you're gunna hide them up the wheel well? The dude probably has some serious wheel scrapeage issues too, no doubt.... Anyway, as usual my 2c worth. PEACE!
  22. DJKOR, to be fair, it's kinda hard to make a call based on a photo focused on only a part of the car, and not being able to see it in the context of the vehicle as a whole. However, from what I can see so far, I quite like the colors shown. It's dark, strong colors with no obvious any bright luminous colors or gaylameness throwing the vibe out of whack you know? But I gotta really see the car from various angles to say for sure though. I do however am a bit apprehensive about the front skirt. You see how the rest of the car in the photo has very smooth, flowing lines? Maybe it's the photo (or my monitor for that matter) but the fog inserts and lower parts of the front skirt look a bit jagged and kinda detracts from the rest of the car. That and it almost looks as if the bottom of the skirt is actually resting on the ground (maybe it's just the photo). Love the wheels, not too sure it being lowered that much though. Need to see the car as a whole. If it's lowered so much that it looks like a squashed frog rather than a low slung sleek machine then we've got a problem. Some cars just don't look good lowered, tha's all. Seen a few RAV4s which have been lowered AND with full front/side skirts + rear spoiler installed. Ghastly, absolutely ghastly. I'm not COMPLETELY against mods or performance tweaks. I"m only against excessive, over the top, I-got-more-money-than-class-or-sense, installing a mod cause-ya-saw-it-on-ebay kind of modifications and add-ons to an otherwise ok looking car in standard spec. For Aurions, I like the TRD versions because they seem to ooze that aloof, bad-***** yet restrained, classy sort of vibe. On the opposite end of the scale, something like the Holden "F... Off" HSV W427 is a grunting, sweaty murderous warthog, that'll tear you apart with unrestrained raw G-force and power if you gave it half a chance.
  23. I agree partly in theory but I also enjoy looking at nicely modded cars. Why do they make street cars that go so fast, look sporty, or are imptractical for everyday use? Because people want them and not everyone is a grumpy hater. My car is lowered because I like the look and handling. I blocked off my lower resonator because I wanted it to sound different. I changed cosmetic parts that are useless to my car because I wanted it to look different and the way I want it. I did an LED swap because I wanted it to look nicer. I want to change my exhaust because I don't like the way it looks. As much as I bag out people on the road for tacky mods I also love it because it gives me something to look at. Mods are art. Fair enough comment, HT. But what really gets my goat is ppl who take it to ridiculous levels. Mods to a car are like what makeup, clothes and fashion accessories are to a girl. Sorry, not being sexist here but it's the best example I can think of atm! Imagine a girl who already has the basics (beautiful facial symmetry, perfect body with all the right curves AND proportions in the right places). What if this girl puts on some tasteful, subtle makeup to accentuate her natural features and also wears a few fashion accessories to compliment her natural body and the clothes she's wearing. Whadya get? An absolute, drop dead gorgeous stunner that you just wanna....... "get to know better", if ya get what I mean. . Now consider if the same girl lays on massive amounts of makeup and wears all sorts of weird fashion accessories combined with the most outlandish LOUD outfits you can think of. Whadya get? Some weird hag who looks like someone's hooker auntie. Yuck, gross. Well, unless you're into that sort of weird fetish kinda thing, I think it's safe to say everyone would probably be taking a few steps back and thinking, wtf is up with that??!?! Mods, tastefully done is art, poise, refinement and enhancement. Otherwise, the effect is the complete opposite. It's probably worse than bogan, IMHO.
  24. Ricers? How are Euro drivers ricers? Same applies to Aurion owners, I've seen Aurions with rice kits and 'go fast' parts. Silly to tag Euros ricers considering the majority are still owned by actual families or just recently passed down to their FnF son/daughter. As for the K24A being weak compared to the 2GR... You need some 1.1L increase in capacity and 2 extra cylinders to be faster? How about a 4cyl Camry if you want to compare like capactiy and # of cylinders? Realise faults in your logic yet? Volumeric Efficency > Cubic Inches/Capacity/Displacement/etc. Some of the replies in this thread (Serious ones anyway) are so ignorant. If Honda cars and engines are so terrible, why have all their sport compacts and their engines beaten the crap out of all the top offerings from Toyota? Comparing class rivals... AP1 F20C v RS200 3SGE / AE101/111 4AG v EG6/EK9 B16 / ZZZT23X 2ZZ-GE v DC5R/EP3R K20A and then you have the FD2R which Toyota don't even have an answer for because well... Lets not get started on that shall we ;) Anyway to OP, can't compare them... Aurion is just a V6 Camry designed to compete with Falcons and Commodores... Accord Euro made to compete in the Luxury segment with the low end European and Lexus... I never could understand WHY people would want to add body kits and spoilers and lower their cars etc. Newsflash!! These things aren't much use in reality unless you're on an autobahn so you can actually USE the downforce generated by these kits and spoilers. What sort of retard can't understand the basic physics behind this? Geezus! Go fast parts? Not much use in day to day metro traffic. That's another thing, 99.9% of the people who add these sorts of mods to their cars live in suburbia where speed limits are so low that what you actually need is patience rather than fast driving skillz. Sure you might think it makes your car sound "cool" and look good, but everytime I see one of these try-hard (yes that's what they are) racers I always have a good laugh to myself because I know these douches are about as bright as a blown light bulb AND their gullibility and naivety astounds me. These clowns in these modified cars obviously don't hear the laughter they leave behind when they drive past revving their engines, thinking they're da shizzle! And another thing, what's with these ricers with big massive exhausts? Compensating for something? Ah well, with any luck, soon enough natural selection will take over and they'll kill themselves on the road with their own modified death traps. I just hope they don't take innocent people with them.
