  1. Welcome :) First evaluate what you want the celica for. Street able daily drive? Track ready supercar? Show and shine pony? Then don't rush into mods , first check if $$$ vs performance gains are worth it and if an engineering certificate is neeeded. Mine is a street able daily drive and I have only tracked it at eastern creek once. The stock set up is great for street use. Race track set up is too low for Sydney streets.
  2. Welcome Alex :) Stock standard celicas are very street able.
  3. File a complaint with consumer affairs and use the tools as evidence. Then return the tools when you get a full refund for the bodgey service. Toyotas are great cars and Toyota dealers should provide great service. That's exactly why I have my own mechanic instead of Toyota service.
  4. Welcome Josh :) Nice corolla - don't over rev the VVTLi N/A screamer.
  5. If a car leaks/burns one litre or more of oil in 1000kms then it needs attention. My 93 2200 camry has done 360000kms and drips about 1-2 drops per day and takes a couple of thousand ks to use a litre of oil. Excessive overfill can damage seals when pressure builds up. Make sure the car is on a level surface when checking oil. How many ks has it done?
  6. With just 1-2 drops per night it's more of a little seep than a leak.. Monitor the oil levels and see which one is falling to confirm if it's engine oil / power steering oil / transmission oil / brake fluid.
  7. I have two camrys and both are reliably boring and boringly reliable. About as much fun as using the oven or dishwasher.
  8. The local performance workshop claims that they can dyno tune a stock standard BRZ , and achieve 15nm more torque and 10kw more power. They are also investigating exhaust mods.
  9. A gentle rub with a rag and toothpaste can remove light scratches , but deep scratches are impossible to remove.
  10. For gluing plastic parts I use plumbers plastic pipe glue. Look at the NSW meet thread for details of the next meet , it will be on it in a week or so.
  11. Hmmmm interesting ..... Didn't realize they could can ur rego on the spot. So wat was the crime? Surely not sitting in a maccas car park? No , it was just down the road at an undisclosed rate of knots.
  12. Welcome Matt :) Bring your rolla to our next club meet
  13. Is the oil getting on the belt and making it slip and squeak? You might need to remove the plastic trays under the engine to find the leak. Is the oil level falling on the dip stick or in the power steering oil container? My 2200 camry started leaking engine oil and it was the oil filter came loose.
  14. I agree David, I have a good private mechanic and he usually does a great job first time. Only once he didn't torque up a suspension bolt properly and it came loose. He fixed it straight away and said sorry. We all make mistakes , but those who recognise mistakes and fix them straight away are good mates.
  15. I bought my V6 camry from a toyota dealer and it kept wandering to the left. I took it back and complained and they billed me for a wheel alignment. On the way home it was still wandering to the left , so I took it back again. The second time it was fixed properly. Toyotas are great cars and I wish I could say the same for Toyota Service and warranty.
  16. Welcome Rosalyne :) Corollas are great reliable cars.
  17. I use penrite 75w90 synthetic and it fixed the notchyness in my six speed celica box. It's available in a 2.5 litre bottle. Other brands are available in one litre bottles and so you would buy more than you need.
  18. Why ? You left with a bang ? lol I was not happy either :(I waited as long as I could and then drove home like grandma. On the positive side it was a good meet with friends and a variety of polished toyotas..
  19. Welcome Aaron :) That is one nice white Celica
  20. Gosh - In the crash repairer for four weeks, must have been a lot of damage. I would take it back to the crash repairer and insist that he comes for a test drive and sees the problem.
  21. I prefer a good mechanic that owns his own business , rather than apprentices at dealerships and the chain repair shops. My mechanic looks after my four toyotas and his price is also okay.
  22. Has this gearbox got any oil in it? Has the oil ever been changed? My gearbox was notchy and noisy on downshifts and the syncros were sludged up because the oil had not been changed since the stone age. Replaced the oil with 75w90 synthetic penrite and now it shifts fine and is quiet. However if your gearbox is excessively worn with lots of kilometres an oil change won't fix it. How is the clutch?
