  1. If you bring your Subaru i'll bring mine i thought u hated subarus... u bloody traitor! :P They are gen 8 that were conceived by toyota and surrogated by subaru , so they are actually toybaru.
  2. My brz is here , so i am selling "bluey" gen 7 manual 6 speed.
  3. If you bring your Subaru i'll bring mine LOL - need to bring gen 7 bluey tonight to get her ready for classic celica day tomorrow, Gen 8 is sleeping this weekend.
  4. YAY - sunshine is finally here - should be a good meet tonight :)
  5. My brz does not have lift and my gen 7 celica does have lift from 6000 rpm to 8350 rpm. Boxer engines have two banks of cams on horizontally opposed heads , so lift operation would be an interesting technical challenge. :)
  6. LOL i am double confused as usual. 1/ is it saturday 25/5/2013 or sunday 26/5/2013? 2/ can i bring a car that was conceived by toyota and then surrogated by subaru? :)
  7. My brz has landed in aus , so now is a good time to sell my gen 7 sx "bluey" . :)
  8. The same thing happened to me in my gtr torana many years ago. I was traveling at an unspecified rate of knots down the freeway when the car pulled hard right and billowed white smoke out of the front right wheel. I had to pull over and let it cool down before limping the rest of the way home at 40kph. The next day i found that the bearing had welded itself to the stub axle and the disc hub was turning on a seized bearing. I had to replace the stub axle , bearing and hub. The caliper , pads and disc were not damaged. On the positive side i now drive at a specified rate of knots.
  9. The gearboxes run well if filled with synthetic oil and the same applies with with synthetic oil for the engine cam lift. The common problem is with the remote door lock actuators inside the doors, Anyway mine will be up for sale in a few weeks , when my gen8 arrives.
  10. I'm in for tonight - now is a good time to wash bluey. :)
  11. Welcome Kev :) The 00 celica is a " fun to drive car ".
  12. It is not only toyota doing this. Other car companies are too. They should all provide full disclosure on cost and reapplications of treatment. Also aftermarket warranties on used cars are full of tricks like $1000 excess on claims , car must be serviced every 3000km/3months to maintain warranty and only engine and transmission covered.
  13. Thanks for the info - It's good about the easy access to change filters through the glovebox. The spark plugs are a different issue - the engine/gearbox have to be lifted and slid forward , wheels and guard inserts removed to get access to the plugs. The brz has 10% stiffer front springs and different damping . but the waiting list for orders takes forever. The standard tyres are woefull.
  14. Try cleaning the battery terminals because they can develop a resistive connection at the + or - post. If it happens again check if a post is hot , this will indicate a resistive connection.
  15. ATM bucketing down rain here in gladesville and i don't want bluey wet. Toymods is having a photoshoot meet tomorrow evening and the weather should be better. :)
  16. I used valvoline 10w50 full synthetic. It is good for all year around with the warm temperature in Sydney. It might be too thick for a cold climate.
  17. My corolla had this and I changed the oil filter and replaced the oil with synthetic oil. That was last year and the problem has gone.
  18. Hi neK, I take all 4 of my toyotas to R&L motors in Gladesville. Rocky does a great job at a reasonable price.
  19. Actually tqautomotivetechnology It is short for top quality automotive technology. This guy has an amazing ebay store. He works from his home garage near fairfield nsw and does remote keys ,satnavs and fog lights for many brands of cars. He supplied and programmed a new factory original remote key for my celica for $220. Toyota price was $500 for exactly the same key.
  20. Hi Shane, The best remote key guy in sydney is tq automotive technology store on ebay. He sorted my remote key problem on my celica quickly and no other locksmith in sydney could. He will know what options you have to fix your remote key problem.
  21. I will come - my work Christmas party was last night :)
  22. Welcome Trent :) The V6 camry is super reliable. I drove mine from sydney-tasmania-sydney a 5100km trip and wore out the tyres. But the car didn't miss a beat.
  23. The door lock/unlock motor on my gen 7 celica is weak/intermittent. The tailgate and passenger door ones are working fine. Has anyone had experience replacing these and are there aftermarket replacements? Also are they interchangeable with other toyota models?
