  1. Have always used Castrol GTX3 in both my 01 Camry(8 years) and 05 Corolla(3 years)...Every 6 months regardless of Kilometres driven Check your user manual for the Corolla, the auto tranny is filled for life, should be a label to that effect under the bonnet somewhere ....some conditions apply...

    Car batteries

A mild solution of Bi-Carb Soda and water will clean the mess up and neutralise the acid. Be careful not to let it get inside the battery though.
  3. I have a 2001 V6 Camry and a 2005 Corolla both of which are relatively low mileage cars, more so the Camry and I change the oil and filters in both every 6 months(Castrol GTX3), regardless...It's not that expensive really, around $30 a car...
  4. It is quite possible it has just lost sync. Check your user manual, there is a will be a procedure to re sync it..If that doesn't work you may be up for a new unit..I have a 2001 Camry and it still works fine(touch wood)
  5. Most probably yes, check your User Manual or dealer...

    Power Antenna

Well you can add me to your list..(65.5) 2001 V6 Camry Conquest 2005 Corolla. And I still do all my own servicing...

    Power Antenna

Need some more detail. Is your antenna faulty and was it faulty when you bought the car and what year model? If faulty, what is the problem? If it was faulty and I am assuming 2nd hand purchase here, what does the dealer have to say? They should fix it for you if it was faulty at time of purchase under warranty. You could try some after market parts outlets. Prices of new innards vary and it is possible you may not be able to get one from any other than Toyota. You would need to try others first.
  8. Amen to that again, but at least it's done..(V6 Camry) I used NGK Iridiums...

    Power Antenna

Just curious, but any result on this???
  10. I bought a set of Aungers from Auto One at less than half the price from Toyota and thet are as easy as P@ss to fit.

A better alternative to Vaseline is silicon spray as it has less tendency to pick up dust and grime which is the main cause of of this problem.

    Power Antenna

Quick cheap fix. Give it a good wipe clean and then a wipe over with a little Vaseline on a piece of rag. when you turn off the radio just give antenna a little help down with a light but firm pressure on the top of the antenna.. Always works for me(2001 Camry Conquest V6) If you need to replace it, all that is required is to buy a new antenna rod section, undo the slotted nut at the base, turn on the radio and pull on the antenna as it extends and completely withdraw it (leave ignition key in ACC position) & note orientation of toothed section. To refit place the new section into the main unit with toothed section properly located, teeth facing to rear of vehicle, and insert to a depth of approx 400mm. Wind the cable to retract the rod by turning the ignition to LOCK. If the antenna doesn't retract twist it slightly and try again. If the antenna doesn't retract fully , install the locknut and recheck operation.. Finally check reception is OK... Note: I haven't ever had to resort to a refit as my first suggestion has always worked. The reifitting procedure is from a Camry Toyota Worhshop Manual. BOL
  13. They certainly have changed things, mi is purely mechanical in function..Sorry I was much help in the end.. :(
  14. Doesn't look anything like mine.. Looks like the hardware has changed.. Was the unit taken from the driver's side door armrest??
  15. Just another little thing, use a pocket size screwdriver or similar with some tape around(to prevent scratching) to lever the switch unit out.
  16. OK, but be careful when pulling it apart, there are lots of little springs which have a life of the own..Best done on a sheet or similar..
  17. It will be the control console in your armrest, I have had the same problem with my 2001 Camry. My passenger side window was intermittent from the drivers side but OK with the passenger side switch unit which at least proved the window etc. was OK. Left with two choices. Toyota said they are not serviceable but I could have a new unit for $400, WhaaaTT?. Other choice, fix it myself and it can be done if you're handy with tools. Remove the unit from the console by levering it out, carefully and unplug it. It is all held together with screws undo the screws then carefully seperate the two halves as the parts inside can jump out and get lost. If you get this far, make careful note of how it is assembled. You will see that most of the contacts are very black and dirty. They will require cleaning with small file(points file) and very fine wet and dry paper. When all the parts are clean, reassemble the unit and replace in the console.. If you don't think you can do it then you will be left with no choice but to buy a new unit. Don't try fitting a secondhand one asit most probably have the same problem as your existing unit.. It can be done but the final choice is yours...
  18. Check your transmission fluid level and system for possible leaks...
  19. Just in front of the battery there is a box marked with a B.. It contains fuses and relays for the headlights, but doesn't seem to have any effect on the sidelights. The only thing I can come up with is two blown bulbs or dirty sockets or a plug in the wiring harness is faulty or dirty. I have a full Toyota factory repair manual and can't find any real useful info in that, apart from the blown bulb or faulty/dirty connectors/sockets.... BTW I have a 2000/2001 V6 Camry. I'll check more thorough later and report back if I find anything more....
  20. All I can find in my Haynes is: Carefully prise off the cover using a small flat bladed screwdriver and replace bulb.
  21. Could be your PS pump, check fluid level, check for leaks for leaks and signs of severe fluid loss, particularly around the sterring rack..Might also check for bodies caught under the car....:)
  22. Got mine from Auto One...Aunger, and IMO look better than the Toyota ones, and a fraction of the cost,, Snack to fit...
  23. Got to agree with the others, 23.5 is way too low, 35 or even a bit higher is the go. BUT you will need a wheel alignment...Most modern cars don't have much in the way of camber and caster adjusment, only Toe in/Toe out... The others usually require suspension parts replacement/repair..
  24. I had the same problem when I got new 17" rims and wider tyres on my Camry....You have changed the geometry, GET A WHEEL ALIGNMENT.
