  1. TOYOTA Australia is the process of forming a special vehicles operation that will turn out high-performance versions of its Australian-built cars and imported vehicles including the Corolla hatchback and HiLux light commercial. Executive chairman John Conomos said the supercharged 185kW Camry TS-01 unveiled at the Melbourne International Motor Show last week was the sort of vehicle Toyota’s forthcoming go fast division would create. A fully fledged performance arm should be up and running in around 36 months. “We’ll start with the next Camry, the pick-up truck which was revealed here today (HiLux) and probably next off the rank will be Corolla. “Over the years, Toyota has been focussing less and less on sporty models and so what we’re trying to do here is to try and give us more sporty cars and give us a more sporty focus to make us more attractive to a greater range of people”. Looks like they are getting the message . But don't seem to be in a hurry to get there.
  2. I think they look crappy loose fitting and ugly. Also I was told it's not a good idea to cover leather as it does it no good.
  3. For the pic and the story go to webwombat.com then go to the motoring section then look at the news section and then look under this story 8/03/05 - Holden's Tigra Drop Top - Melbourne Motor Show
  4. What is a Yankee? The same as a quickie, but a guy can do it alone. What is the difference between a Harley and a Hoover? The position of the dirt bag Why is divorce so expensive? Because it's worth it. Why is air a lot like sex? Because it's no big deal unless you're not getting any What do you call a smart blonde? A golden retriever. What do attorneys use for birth control? Their personalities. What's the difference between a girlfriend and wife? 20 kilos What's the difference between a boyfriend and husband? 45 minutes What's the fastest way to a man's heart? Through his chest with a sharp knife. Why do men want to marry virgins? They can't stand criticism. Why is it so hard for women to find men that are sensitive, caring, and good-looking? Because those men already have boyfriends. What's the difference between a new husband and a new dog? After a year, the dog is still excited to see you What makes men chase women they have no intention of marrying? The same urge that makes dogs chase cars they have no intention of driving. What's the difference between a porcupine and BMW? A porcupine has the pricks on the outside. What did the blonde say when she found out she was pregnant? "Are you sure it's mine?" Why does Mike Tyson cry during sex? Mace will do that to you. Why did OJ Simpson want to move to West Virginia ? Everyone has the same DNA. Why do men find it difficult to make eye contact? Breasts don't have eyes. Why do drivers' education classes in Redneck schools use the car only on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays? Because on Tuesday and Thursday, the Sex Ed class uses it. A northern fairytale begins "Once upon a time..." A southern fairytale begins "Y'all ain't gonna believe this ****..."
  5. Maybe they will bring it in if they want to compete. Here's what Ford is bringing in FORD FOCUS ST FOLLOWING the Gen II Focus launch in Paris last September, Ford will introduce an ST performance version at Geneva on March 3. And the indications are that it will be a vast improvement over the current ST170 sold in Australia. Expected here in 2006, the all-new ST discards the current 127kW 2.0- litre inline-four for an altogether more interesting 2.5-litre fi ve-cylinder Duratec engine delivering more than 160kW of power to the road via a six-speed manual gearbox. Full details are still to emerge, however the bright-orange three-door borrows design cues from the Fiesta ST model sold overseas and sits on 18-inch fi ve-spoke cast-aluminium rims with low-profi le 225/50-series rubber. Other notable visual elements include the thickset front bumper with inverted-trapezoid graphite-mesh lower grille, brushed aluminium foglight surrounds, a wide tailgate spoiler, a venturi-effect rear lower bumper and chrome-tipped dual sport exhaust. Inside, the ST has a unique instrument pod showing turbo boost pressure, oil temperature and oil pressure and redesigned main instruments. Black trim, brushed aluminium detailing, a thick-rimmed tiller, leather-trimmed gearstick, well-bolstered front seats and cast aluminium pedals work the sporting theme further.
  6. Isn't Gremlin the dude with all his own mods (transplant ) who was beat up after the operation at Mt Gravatt lookout. ? He was on telly with Ray Martin and in the newspapers.
  7. We all know silvers best. Great car and looks like now you are in for the go fast stuff
  8. I'm not saying anything. Make up your own mind.
  9. I can't understand how you guys see this stuff I can't remember the last time I opened the bonnet . Are you supposed to ?
  10. I did this the other day after some rain but on the change to second hit a large puddle. Yes done deliberate as I wanted to lay rubber in 2nd on the other side. The car lost grip completly then suddenly gained it again coming out the other side of the wet into the dry with heaps of power on. I thought I was going to end up with the dash in my lap. There was the loadest bang you ever want your car to make and everything in the car moved. The force was so much that it flipped the rear mirror down (and you know how tight they are). Don't ever do this to you own car - get a renter
  11. Same here the red ones the same as my T18 (blue). Bought it new - did he say these adds are 20 years old. Shzzt I'm getting old. Cool car in its day but handling was soft and motor was underpowered for all that weight (even had steel mags). Maxed out the personal loan and credit card to get it because the lady I was going out with didn't like the Gemini (go RTS). She still didn't come across in the T18 and broke up soon after but it's been a long love affair with the Toyota's ever since - last 5 cars in fact.
  12. I saw a new Astra yesterday and quite liked it. Bit like others though MAZ3 Megane etc. ie Big **** end. But looks like a hot version coming. "HOLDEN’S European affiliate Opel will unveil the Astra OPC in Geneva, the production version of its GTC-based High Performance Concept study revealed at the Paris show last year. Based on the AH Astra three-door and expected in Australia next year, the OPC derives its name from the Opel Performance Centre and features a 176kW/320Nm 2.0-litre turbo engine which drives the front wheels via a sixspeed manual transmission. Claimed performance is 0-100km/h in less than seven seconds, with a top speed of more than 240km/h. The car has 18-inch alloy wheels and 225/45 series rubber fitted standard, with 19-inch wheels (235/35 tyres) in the design of the Paris show car set down as an option. Disc brake diameters measure 321/278mm front/rear, Opel’s IDSPLus chassis (Interactive Driving System) with electronic CDC (Continuous Damping Control) is available and a wider, lower front air intake aims to impart a more aggressive look than did the GTC. Unimaginative sporting cues such as Recaro seats, chrome-ringed dials and leather details are used inside, along with OPC branding." Anyone tempted to save up to spend on the Lion brand. ?
  13. I'm heading to the Motor Show on Saturday 5/2/05 anyone else going. Might see you there.
  14. Quote "mmmm I think I have a woody.... " Just watch those gear changes and grab the correct stick. Keep us informed about how Bluey goes. I'm trying to talk my sister into buying a Euro instead of a Mazda 6
  15. OK time to come clean. You have had the Euro long enough. Whats faster the Sportivo or the Euro. I've tried to give a few a run from the lights but they must all be driven by grandma's despite there being quite a few on the roads I have not even seen one take off briskly from the lights
  16. Strike is in the Wintergarden been there it's pretty good. Check it out at www.strikebowlingbar.com.au
  17. We should all think about that next tank of fuel and what it costs and keep the car in the garage and send the money to the tsunami victims instead. This will be good for your car (play your XBox /PS2 instead) and really help some people in desperate need. You can donate at any major Bank. PS. The big banks aren't that bad sometimes all have donated over $100,000.00 and are taking the donations for free (also no merchant fee if by card) and the ANZ and Westpac are matching all donations by their staff. Also the major charities don't rip off half the money with over 90% sent to the victims.
  18. Happy New Year - Hope you all have tickets in the $31M lotto and if you win you will generously mod all the members Sportivos for us.
  19. The cooler weather in Brissie is good. Cool mornings no need for air con the traffic is very light and the Sportivo is sooo responsive. Pity about all the speed traps so need to keep sensible about it.
  20. Merry Christmas to all. Craig hope you get those fluffy dice you want so bad. Rollagrl hope you get lots of new blue bits from Santa
  21. In the real world in an emergency people hit the brakes full on and skid that's why ABS was invented and becoming the standard. It's what I did in my old non ABS Camry and did $4k damage. It was on full lock and went straight into the back of a ute. Had I had ABS .... well who knows. PS watch out for stopping utes with no brake lights. I'm only looking for someone who has done that with ABS and been saved by it. I feel worried when I know my car stops well and I have some turd* in a sh*t box right up my clacker and I know that my boot is the only thing that's going to stop them in an emergency not their own brakes.
  22. You must be a good driver to pull up faster without ABS. I have done some training at the Holden driver centre in a commodore that had the ability to turn it on and off. No one did better than the ABS and if your talking about steering at the same time without ABS forget it you go staight through the cones every time. This was emergency braking at 80klms on a track.
