  1. Personally I like FWD. I remember a motoring reporter on TV trying to explain it with a stick. He put a weight on the front and threw it the stick went far and straight (FWD) he put the weight on the back (RWD) and threw it . it didn't go very well wobbling all over the place. Simplistic explanation but true to a point especially in the wet.
  2. Don't know about the rest of Australia but we have had a bit of rain up here in Brissy and I was just wondering if any one had done a real emergency stop in the wet and how did the Sportivo pull up. Tried a couple of hard stops last night but only from about 40kph the ABS worked and the car stayed straight. But I was ready and not going that fast and didn't try to steer. Any one had any near misses being saved by the ABS EB
  3. Any dead crow is a good result . They steal my cat's food and cr*p on my outdoor furniture. Good one
  4. When the car first came out the motoring writers where saying "whats with the Prado like gap between the wheels and the guard"
  5. This must be the one that I though was you when I had seen it going over the Victoria Bridge
  6. Not really a Corolla story but it might have been a Matrix with sunroof. Funny but tragic news story: Arkansas Woman Killed in Mistaken Rapture ARKANSAS CITY (EAP) -- A Little Rock woman was killed yesterday after leaping through her moving car's sunroof during an incident best described as a "mistaken rapture" by dozens of eye-witnesses. Thirteen other people were injured after a twenty-car pile-up resulted from people trying to avoid hitting the woman, who was apparently convinced that the rapture was occurring when she saw twelve people floating up into the air, and then passed a man on the side of the road who she believed was Jesus. "She started screaming `He's back! He's back!' and climbed out through the sunroof and jumped off the roof of the car," said Everet Williams, husband of 28-year-old Georgann Williams who was pronounced dead at the scene. "I was slowing down but she wouldn't wait till I stopped," Williams said. She thought the rapture was happening and was convinced that Jesus was gonna lift her up into the sky," he went on to say. "This is the strangest thing I've seen since I've been on the force," said Paul Madison, first officer on the scene. Madison questioned the man who looked like Jesus and discovered that he was on his way to a toga costume party, when the tarp covering the bed of his pickup truck came loose and released twelve blow-up sex dolls filled with helium, which then floated up into the sky. Ernie Jenkins, 32, of Fort Smith, who's been told by several of his friends that he looks like Jesus, pulled over and lifted his arms into the air in frustration and said "Come back," just as the Williams' car passed him, and Mrs. Williams was sure that it was Jesus lifting people up into heaven as they drove by him. "I think my wife loved Jesus more than she loved me," the widower said when asked why his wife would do such a thing. When asked for comments about the twelve sex dolls, Jenkins replied, "This is all just too weird for me. I never expected anything like this to happen."
  7. This may give you some ideas. I think only snowflake might go this far.
  8. Interview with Head of Toyota on GoAuto Does this mean he is admitting there are bad Toyota cars. ie Sportivo JOHN Conomos likes to dismiss himself as “a simple truck salesman”, a reference to the distant days. But the truth is he sits as high in the echelons of his motor company as any Australian executive plying their trade on the globe today. Mr Conomos is not only executive director of Toyota Australia but is also only one of a handful of non-Japanese members currently sitting on the global board. His international commitments means the man who has played a key role in masterminding the rise and rise of Toyota in this country is rarely available to the press. An interview by Bruce Newton was recorded during a briefi ng for select media, in which Mr Conomos explains: 200,000 sales target under threat New model introductions Fuel pricing hits LandCruiser petrol sales $1.20 per litre will change buyer behaviour Preparations for fuel price surge Large cars the toughest segment The fundamental buying pattern change in large cars No bad cars anymore The one million new vehicle sales market The slowing rate of growth
  9. Firstly I need to apologise to all the Stivo owners with gear problems for thinking you might be whingers. But this morning I drove a training partners Stivo who has the problem and all I can say is Thank (insert your own Deity) that I don't have this problem. We drove each others car and I could immediately notice a major difference between the feel of the clutches. Mine takes up much higher than his and feels different just pushing it in (so is it the clutch ?) By the way he was told by Toyota it's his driving that is the problem as he's pushing against the gate (that stops you accidently putting it back to 1st from 2nd). What a load of cr*p as I don't have the problem and neither does he in my car. And I doubt there would be such a thing anyway but it does feel like you are struggling against something that does not want to let go. I know why you are so frustrated as it spoils the great thrill of hitting lift and powering on in 2nd (anything more would be illegal right) to 100k's ph. So I only hope that Toyota accept this problem and help out with the rectification. Come on Toyota you made it you fix it.
  10. Just went for a ride in a Bentley Continental GT - 411kw -3 Sportivos in power but 13 in price Bit more leg room in the sportivo though - actually you wouldn't want to go very far in the back at all. When you start the car (key in your pocket) the steering wheel electronically comes out of the dash to your position. Lots of bells and whistles. Has an excellent note out of the dual exhaust with Twelve cylinders, dual bank V formation with shared crankshaft, DOHC, four valves per cylinder, variable valve timing for inlet and exhaust, all alloy, twin turbocharged
  11. Of the users who took the test and are male and in your age group, 100% scored lower than you.
  12. I take it this is "on the road" drive away price
  13. Hi cam I think you have a Black one repainted silver
  14. Only use the BP but before the cruise I was in la la land and put $2.27 normal unleaded into the car before I realised I had the wrong pump. Lucky it was only 2 litres. Don't know what I could have done if I'd filled the bugger up with it. 60 litres of mower fuel I suppose. **** that's a lot of grass.
  15. Hey Great time. Sorry I had to nick off early but I was feeling a bit too dodgy to do the Mt Tamborine part. I think the 4.30am rise and mountain bike ride for 3 hours in the heat wasn't the best start for a cruise. The radios were a great idea and funny listening in to the chat especially going into West Mt Cotton Rd. I don't think it slowed the front runners down. Christopher enjoyed coming along but all he can talk about now is dad getting the car modded. The stock silver was a bit boring next to Brendans modded silver beast. PS there was no rain where I live (when I was still awake) What time did you finish.?
  16. Just wondering if cruise can be fitted to the Stivo. Why? Well just did a trip for work into NSW (the speed trap state) went to Glen Innes via the inland road and over to Grafton then back up to Brissie. Fixed speed cameras and mobile speed cameras every where as well as the truck monitoring cameras (don't know if these can get you - but will find out soon as we went around a truck with plenty of room and slow but when we got around it we went under the camera gantry over a double white line - on the wrong side of the road of course). PS not in the Stivo this trip in a Prado luckily with cruise which saved us a number of times not knowing the roads and where the cops like to be.
  17. RACQ was much cheaper than AAMI. You guys are going to cry at the cost 1 x 2003 Sportivo plus 1 x 2001 Camry Csi = Premium $795.88 + GST $79.59 + Govt S/Duty $43.78 Total cost both cars $919.25 (The Sportivo was $531.85 with excess of $350 applys to over 25 having held licence for preceding 2 consecutive years)
  18. Second that Silver - only way to go. PS the Silver ones don't have any of the problems either
  19. I thought you were not supposed to run an EFI below quarter tank and if you do actually run out it's not a simple matter of just putting in juice to get it going again. Ran out of fuel once with the misses in the car (before married) and she still won't let me forget it
  20. How long did you spend cleaning the car before the event ? and did you secretly trailer the stivo over to the event (enclosed trailer) to win including the under body category. PS Got a medal :D (teams) at the Raby Bay tri on sunday - so my crappy medal pales in comparison to 10 trophys
  21. Yeah the Silver. My first silver car and I really like it. Very rewarding when polished looks great (but man so does Black when clean) I always drool at my mates new Beemer 330C in black and previously his black Audi S3. Another guy who comes to bike training has a black one and it always looks dirty as he can never keep it clean. Currently its so dry up here in Qld its always covered in dust and it really shows. By the way we have had the S3 and Sportivo side by side I think Toyota did a bit of style copying here but on the cheap they have a very similar styling look about them from the coated plastic silver console v brushed aluminium to the euro radio arial out the back. Maybe all small hatches look a little similar. What do you think?
  22. Chompies I have had my Stivo for 14 months and its done 14300klms as at today. I have had no problems at all other than one of the Stivo badges fell off (I don't think anyone would bother to steal one) replaced under warranty. Maybe I don't drive it as hard as the others or I might have been lucky. But trouble free (touch wood).
  23. Blxxdy car search info if u can't trust the net who can you trust
