  1. Please stop saying it is a 30hp increase as you really need to take into account correction figures between here and the states as Bill has already mentioned. It would probably be more like 15-20 odd hp here in Aus. For the price you have quoted i'm sure somewhere like Westside, CES and the like could do for the same money maybe even less. take them a pic and some measurements and see what they would charge.
  2. You are a lucky man to have a GF like that!! won't be out this week as my brother's birthday and have some thingy on for him.
  3. Saturday is the 11th of April so what is the talk of sunday? Saturday night I'm happy with and I'm glad we have our own shoot without having to combine with the boofheads from boost losers.
  4. Console has leather trim on the arm rest with an extra storage compartment on the top. The auto windows for all 4 windows in facelift wont work in a pre facelift. We got some switches for Northy's car and tried it but wiring loom is different and waay too much work to make it happen. Prefacelift is short a few wires from memory to activate switches.
  5. Northy cheated and went the Sikaflex route in the stock mount. It eventually just pushed it's way out. i had a set of the enerygy suspension mounts but only put the rear one in as it was the one I saw most movement in. Also got some washers to stop it from pushing out as that was the first thing I noticed too. Vibration from engine was increased ever so slightly but not enough to worry me or for the wife to complain or even notice so I didn't say anything!! Throttle response was heaps better without the engine jumping around like it does with totally stock mounts. clutch take up and feel also felt better too. Next time you go to a dyno day watch a 2ZZ on the dyno rev up then hit the limiter and back off. The engine moves around quite a lot!
  6. Have you confirmed that you are leaking? Guni i think he is talking about the car
  7. TRD CAI works great with an ITG filter. What I ran on my car till I sold it... Touche! Spillage don't deliberately try to start arguments cause I will end it as will any of the other mods.
  8. BKS there have been plenty of my posts taken out of context not because of bad grammar or punctuation cause that is one thing I really hate LOL. Like I said some have mentioned to me in the past about your posts on topics but I personally haven't noticed it till it was bought to my attention. As for CES products couldn't agree more as that is what I have used as well as TRD on my car when I owned it. So my recomendations truthfully can only be about those brands or where i see first hand info on other brands cause we all know stories get made bigger/ longer than they really are!! I love new members enthusiasm for their new car or for finding us on the net. But seriously is it really that hard to read the pinned topics at the top of the page before creating another thread about CAI's etc etc. I love it when people think and find an old thread regarding their topic of choice and ask a question in it. Now back to some good ol' header action..............
  9. CES CAI is 3" and the TRD is like 66mm? From memory or close to 2.75". CES CAI also has a reducer in the pipe near the maf to incease air speed through the maf. Rubber elbows of the TRD are also quite thin and flimsy compared to the ones CES used which make it a tad harder to manipulate into the right spot but no need to worry about the hose clamps cutting the rubber elbow like the TRD can do. lol u ces fan boys crack me up...... thegourou20 if your in sydney try plazmaman cai its a good kit Sorry mate just supplying the info as thegoru asked the question of what's difference if any and I answered it. simple. If you cannot handle that then I'd suggest you hit the search button and start reading so you can answer the next question. more than happy for you to have your 5 minutes of fame...... Neil the valve clearance closing up was something I also thought about as well. Toyota don't do them in a service till about 40k service then 80k?? Someone clarify that one? (Spillage here's your chance...)
  10. Westside would definately be my pick of the custom exhaust shops/ fabricators in Sydney that's for sure. BKS I have no beef with you at all. Please remember that some of us have been here since almost day dot with regards to a Sportivo corolla and we do grow tired of new people coming here and saying that they have re invented the wheel so to speak and trying mods that were tried and tested to work or not to work quite a few years ago. That's what i get slightly annoyed about as people would save themsleves a lot of grief if they spent a few hours reading and searching this forum about what does and doesn't work. Not saying you have done this but sometimes the way you word some of your posts people may get the wrong impression of what you are trying to say or do. I have chatted to a few members from all over who sometimes are perceiving your posts in that way. By all means don't stop contributing to the forum cause forums need proactive members like yourself to keep things ticking along in the modding dept. Cheers SB Now back to porting stock headers for some extra torque goodness.....
  11. do we have a date yet cause that is going to determine whether or not some are going to be able to make it.
  12. CES CAI is 3" and the TRD is like 66mm? From memory or close to 2.75". CES CAI also has a reducer in the pipe near the maf to incease air speed through the maf. 13. Nice dyno graph thats for sure!!! was that the full system (I, H, & E)?? Pretty sure that would be a system from dump pipe back. bosch dynos generally read pretty high, i wouldent put to much weight on the actual number Actually the ol' Bosch dyno reads pretty good. done back to back from the bosch to a dyno dynamics dyno the difference was just on 2kw.
  14. I will be talking with Trevor over the next few days regarding this. If you are genuinely interested and not wasting my time then PM me so I can give CES rough numbers. this may get the ball rolling.
  15. It all comes back to the supply and demand principal. There are a lot of people on this forum who say they want custom headers but when it all boils down to it they won't fork out the $$ to buy them hence companies like CES isn't going to spend a lot of hours of R&D and dyno time to produce something that they may only sell 1-2 sets a year. Just not good business principals and not cost effective. Remember you are driving a Sportivo Corolla not a Rex,Evo etc etc. Sure if you rock up with your car and say develop me a set of headers they'll do it but so far nobody has put the cash up to do it.... Like CK said the 2ZZ is a fussy animal when it comes to exhausts so a lot of time will be spent on trialling different set ups etc etc to finally get something to make the gains where they are needed. A good fabricator won't give you something that won't work......
  16. Phil get headers uncoated (@$330ish) then get some tyres. Headers will give you more mid range and low speed torque and tyres will help with cornering speeds and traction issues. Just a thought and as I know you are always thinking budget too LOL
  17. Man they looked after you on postage as system is just under 1K. Header are stock ported and HPC coated headers. Well worth it IMO. You can also get the headers uncoated just painted with high temp paint in flat black for about $330ish from memory. Contact CES for exact prices.
  18. Catback does make gains and increase in torque. 6-9kw is the range I have seen from catback alone. Reduces drastically the torque hole between 4-6K and makes the car just nicer to drive. CES did before and after to see what and where the gains were. Power improved from just under 2000rpm to redline. Peak power improvements is somewhere in the range of 6-9kw depending on existing mods and the mid range is improvement is about 3-6kw. Not startling improvements but gains all the same. Personally it is the extra torque gains that a cat back system and ported headers give that make the car such a better package to drive on a daily basis. Add a CAI and good filter and net gains of the 3 items is somewhere around the 12-20kw mark depending on the varied build quality that Toyota delivers. There is plenty you can do to a 2ZZGE to improve performance. Just depends on what you want and how much money you want to spend. Most are after relatively easy bolt on mods that are easy to remove come sale time. A lot harder to remove engine internals etc!! FYI SSS with CAI and full exhaust system vs Sportivo with just catback = Sportivo win......
  19. Great read for those who are tech savy as far as engine are concerned. Lots of serious custom work that's for sure!! http://www.turbomagazine.com/tech/0202tur_...egra/index.html
  20. There are many on here that will say I am biased as my car was used for development and dyno testing so my first hand experience and results are more creditable than the "butt Dyno" LOL. Cat back improves pre lift performance and drastically reduces the torque hole between 4-6K. It doesn't totally eliminate it but goes a long way to make it better. Once lift is engaged peak power is also improved right to redline. Peak figures vary so much depending on toyota's build quality from monday to friday. :P My car was primarily driven by my wife to and from work and I never got a complaint from her about noise at all. It has a nice note that isn't obtrusive and doesn't drone inside the car at freeway or general suburb speeds as well. Mine tested under the DB limit as far as noise was concerned by 1-2DB from memory. Throttle response is crisper and more responsive. Add a CAI or if finances and stretch some ported headers your car will be absolutely awesome to drive. Like running 2500rpm and upshifting all the way to sixth and the car accelerating really nicely. Headers make a huge difference to low end to mid range and combined with cat back and CAI make the progression onto lift quite soft as the engine is making more usable power in the low end. Hope this answers your question mate. Any others fire away and I'll answer to the best of my ability.
  21. I don't have the dyno sheet with the before and after comparison. Think it is at CES so will give them a call and find out. As for a sound grab PM Azza as I think he has one. I have some video of my car on the dyno but all you can hear is the CAI!!
  22. Mate I do have something somewhere. Be patient as I do have 3 large boxes of stuff to look through to find them. As for sound clips will have a look too.
