  1. Hey all Well i picked up the replacement for the Sportivo this arvo. It sure as hell is a lot slower but prolly a lot more practical for what I want and need to do these days. Here are a few pics I just snapped in the dark so they aren't really good but will get better ones in daylight. Colour is actuall deep metallic purple although it looks blue.
  2. 30k is a bit steep for a Sportivo cause it has some stereo gear in it. Mate if you want a Sportivo that has all the goods to beat a Type R(and has done so ) then this is the car for you. http://au.toyotaownersclub.com/forums/inde...showtopic=11034 All you need plus it ain't gonna cost you 30k just to have a bit of doof doof. All the money spent in the right places first...... (thanks superdave for plug!!)
  3. hard limit ..... soft limit ...... a little blue pill will fix that issue right up jase     GGGGGOOOOOLLLLLDDDDD MY FRIEND G.O.L.D.
  4. That looks like it has fried up due to the cover having traces of silicone on it(armourall etc etc). Be sure to rinse the cover with thinners or wax and grease remover before you paint. Secondly use plastic primer as it has a sort of elasticity in it to allow flex with out cracking the painted surface. I use 2 coats of this then apply 2-3 coats of colour followed by 2-3 coats of clear. Allow ample time in between coats for drying before applying the next coat. If you do this then you will have greats results. These are the methods I use and my results pretty much speak for themselves.
  5. Pretty sure it was Pippy who pushed around 96kw from memory at Mercury with some mazda boys a while ago. MAP81 should push more considering the work done to it but alas not the result expected by others or wanted by PP
  6. Unless you decide to start doing engine internal work anything above 120 is going to be almost out of reach. Unless you spend big $$ getting an exhaust system custom made to suit your application, cam changes etc etc then it will be hard to reach.
  7. Mate I might have 5 sportivo rims in brand new condition with brand new tyres up for sale soon....
  8. Everyone has a different opinion of what "too stiff" is. Northy's car handles great but for me is "too stiff" for everyday driving. But he loves it and after all it's his car so it's up to him. I prefer to have a firm ride where you can feel the road undulations under you but it's not bone jarring or to the point of being harsh and uncomfortable. It's prettty hard to have a softish ride and still have it handle like it's on rails.....
  9. My solution to this Sheldon would be the CES exhaust or a 2.5" exhaust upgrade. It should give you that 1ZZ-like torque punch between 2000-4000RPM... Good combination with the CAI Add a set of CES headers and it has balls of low end grunt but the downside is the progression onto lift isn't as sharp due to the engine making more power off lift. But it also makes it very nice to drive in traffic and at low speeds and eliminates the need downshift to accelerate if the need be. The extra fuel consumption after installing a CAI would be the heavy right foot to hear the noise me thinks....
  10. Sorry guys but I am still crook from Sydney and haven't been to work all week and I know Northy is starting to feel crook as well. Hope you had fun last night DHC.....
  11. So not tuning the ECU properly makes it drop a rod Xoom me thinks Danz is on the wacky tobaccy :o :o The only reason the engine dropped a rod was because the limiter was bumped up a bit and as Northy would be the first to admit he drove it on the limiter all the time. You can drive a 2zz on the limiter all day and not hurt it. But the Stock ECU has the limiter set at that point for a reason. The rods can't handle the extra RPM stress and as Northy proved you bump up the limiter and look what happens. You get 2 nice inspection holes and trail of fire under the car. So therefore the ECU controlling the limiter was more than likely the reason why this happened. But then you granny shift don't you Danz so it'd never be a problem for you :P
  12. On the list to vote I went with the Cusco's as they are the only set of coilovers that I have fitted where everything fits nice and easy and has correct brackets for the brake lines etc etc the same as the stock strut. But if the list included Drummond motorsport coilovers then that would be the one i would choose. Yes very expensive but custom made to suit your car is the only way to go!!! Proflex suspension is another one but I doubt many people from here would have hard of them nor would pay what their worth. We have them fitted on one of our customers Rally Civic's. They have a 50mm strut shaft and cost just on $1500 a corner!!! Their motto is "If you bend one of our struts then your car is stuffed".
  13. Phil all you need is some Sportivo rims and a 35mm drop and she'll look sweet as!!
  14. Corzza your car is looking good man!! Very nice indeed and congrats on winning a trophy at the National meet!! well deserved!!(and I voted for you LOL)
  15. Dave was hoping to see you at the National meet as I wanted to have a peek at your car but alas didn't see you!! Ahh well maybe next time...
  16. The Wed Wocket is getting faster and the mods are slowly increasing. Hope I"m not the bad influence!! And don't tell your MRS it's me either!!!
  17. Nice looking car you got there!!
  18. Looking good there Mish and Mark. Maybe some rims and she'll start to be complete!!
  19. Mate once my car is gone you are gonna have to lift your game a bit and keep it a bit cleaner LOL. Keep the flag flying high for the "Brat pack".....
  20. Mate she is a nice clean example of a MR2. After seeing it at the national meet compared to the size of a Corolla, putting a 2zz in the back it this thing will fly!!!
  21. At this point in time contact Northy as he is currently filling in for Steve doing the admin duties:)
  22. Shame this happened over a year or more ago. And that was caused by an aftermarket ECU!!! Don't believe toyota for a minute cause they can make the rules up as they go along. Northy and I have heard that right from the horses mouth!!
  23. that's gonna be a bit of a tough ask me thinks....
  24. The Cuscos Zero 2 and Tein Wagons cannot be compared. Teins flex are awesome, superstreet is ok (howevever id still go D2s since superstreets dont have a lower adjustment and are twin tube (note monotube is better)). Unfortunantly they dont make Flex and Superstreet for the ZZE12X corolla (they do have superstreet for the US model but not sure if it fits). Cuscos Zero 2 are superior to Tein Wagons and superstreets; however are on par with Tein flex. Given whats avaialble for the Rolla Id i'd buy steet coilovers in the following order: Cusco Zero 2 --> D2 Street --> Cusco Zero 1 ---> Tein GT Wagon --> Tein Super Wagon Some1 else on here had DMS coilovers, they don't allow too much of a drop (i think 50mm) but they are an awesome coilover but pricy (think 3000 dollars or so). Make sure you comparing the products correctly cuz they make variations of every brand. There are also other coilover you can get for the rolla, but i only know specifics of the above. Cusco Zero 2 --> D2 Street --> Cusco Zero 1 ---> Tein GT Wagon --> Tein Super Wagon which one is the most comfortable and the best handling to drive? TRD you cant have both...the best handling wont be the most comfortable.. northy, if it is looking to get balance between handling and comfort, which one would be good? my big concern is the suspension can't be too bumpy(can take exceptional sporty) and only need to drop down 35mm from stock height at this stage. my front bumper is too low. it is main for daily drive. i am using lovell 55mm super low at this stage and its make too bumpy. Cusco Zero 2 --> D2 Street --> Cusco Zero 1 ---> Tein GT Wagon --> Tein Super Wagon or Koni shock with 30mm H-R spring? TRD Put a set of Koni's in it with your Lovells or go back to Kings lows. Problem solved. Adjust the Koni's down towards the softest setting and away you go. Nice handling with a "not too intrusive" ride. My wife has driven on kings and Koni's for years in our car and never had a whinge from her about the harshness of the ride. And mine are set front 1/2 and the rear 2/3 to the hardest dampening setting. when I do mountains etc i adjust the fronts up a tiny bit and away we go. And yes i can keep up with Northy but just have to drive a lil harder and smarter!!
  25. I wonder if they handle like some bridgestones??? OK to good in the dry but crap in the wet :P
