  1. My theory to end this is simple. Type R is better for racing purposes and is marketed that way. Corolla Sportivo is better for comfortable commuting and has some nice power for a bit of a fang every now and then. Which ever one you chose depends on exactly it is you want to do with it. Plain and Simple. So all you Honda homo's take your Honda ego's to OZ honda and rub the paint off your Type R sticker and all the Toyota tocko's stay here and polish your sportivo badges. Cause to be honest there is a lot of comments made in this thread by people who really have no idea but have the " I've got a mate" syndrome happening and I"m sure that I"m not the only one who is sick and tired of people trying to compare 2 absolutely totally different cars. End of rant before I feel the need to vomit some more(and no I"m not joking <_< )
  2. Mish you have done an awesome job and I take my hat off to you. sorry I didn't get to thank you in person but for prolly most of the weekend I was actually really sick with migrane head aches and vomiting here and there. Some of you may have noticed(Qld boys in my room LOL) but I pushed myself to try and enjoy my time in Sydney the best I could. Saiya top job mate with the pics /videos and helping out with the show and shine etc. Bill you my kebab devouring friend are a true legend and us QLD boys thank you heaps for basically being our guide and looking after us like you did. Cheers mate really appreciate it!! To all the other out of towners who braved the crap weather to get there thank you for your efforts. It's peeps like you that make this forum worthwhile. To all the Sydney crew.... what can we say??? Well lots actually as we really would like to thank you all for being friendly and chatting with us QLD'ers and showing us around "your back yard" Finally to North, Azza, Superdave, DHC09 and Mrs DHC.... you guys rock big time. You would all agree that I was pretty pi55ed off at the weather driving down after the effort I had put in all week getting my car ready but you all in your own way lent a helping hand or comment to keep me going even though I should have been in bed feeling like I did. Thanks for putting up with my snoring as I put up with yours and we all agreed that we would definately do it again!!!! See you all in QLD next year!! Cheers Silvabullit aka Hooter's new dancer to appeal to the ladies...
  3. Hey I recognise the guy dancing at hooters!!!! Azza and I got home at 8.50pm tonight safe and sound. Pretty sure everyone else did as well. too tired and feeling really sick ATM so will make some more comments tomorrow and post up some pics we tokk on the trip down and back!!
  4. I'm getting a gps of my old man as well so we can't all get lost LOL
  5. Come to the meet on saturday if you're in Sydney and you'll be able to hear quite a few cars with CES systems...
  6. Try Goodline Trimming for the steering wheel. $240 sounds reasonable depending on the quality of the unit installed.
  7. that's going to be cleaning time for me :( I'll need all morning to clean all the road kill etc off the front of my car unless I ride up Northy's a55 all the way.... After all bugs seem to love black cars more than silver ones.....
  8. I don't think the K&N is that loud at all....I have an Apexi and that thing is louder I reckon. The apexi roars whereas the K&N screams like a girl, either way I reckon the noise from an intake is loud. Lots of comments from family members saying that I would definitely get pulled over if a police officer heard that. Dude it's not the K&N that makes the CAI louder. The CES CAI IS LOUDER than the TRD CAI hands down. Bren said 'dude'. Heheheheheheheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeaaarrrrr. Ze CES ish bigga diameter ja? Yeah it is bigger diameter and no the CES design is not like the AEM it's more like TRD design.
  9. Trophies are all sorted and will be ready for me to pick up next week. Look pretty good too might I add.
  10. you are correct! You reckon? Owning two pre-facelift and one post-facelift stivo’s (have one of each at the moment), I think not. Same issues exist, no matter pre or post. Regardless; for the money, you can’t go wrong with stivo, that is why I am hangin’ on to mine. Brand new under $30k is unheard of these days for a vehicle with such good performance, features and economy. heard that the stivos were $29k drive away towards the end of production? had a check on carsales just then, private ones are almost 25k (face-lift) and the dealer ones are selling around 26 to 27k i think they're abit over-priced as the new model has came out. dont u reckon? ps. Im talkin about NSW, btw I found that Victoria has alot of cheap stivos 23k +- New model Corolla will not have a sportivo with 2zzge engine. hence why their value second hand is as high as it is. I for one certainly love it. Facelifts all had the revised shifter cables, ECU's and revised struts. Plus they also managed to have the clutch adjusted properly which was the problem in the pre facelifts. If you have a facelift with any of these problems I'd be surprised as the people I know who work for Toyota have shown me proof of the changes and the changes to part numbers. EG struts have now got a part number superceeded from Japan as the earlier ones suffered problems whether you put lowered springs in or not. Gear shift cables have been completely revised and now have thicker outercover and the cables them selves are somewhat different.(Have compared the 2 on a bench at Toyota cause mine both broke due to a "supposed" rattle fix gone wrong). If you have gear shift dramas in a facelift then all I can say is it could be the way you drive. Like it or not.... I love the stivos but they're just too expensive atm in NSW saw a stivo selling at $27900 stock while I saw an ad on TOCAU just then, a member selling his stivo with mods for 23k which is a good price, but that's in QLD... how come nsw always has higher price <_< Well it could be worth your time and money to come to Qld and buy a good car with mods cheaper than a stocko in your area?? Flights are pretty cheap these days. JC flew to Sydney to buy his Sportivo cause there were no new ones left in Brisbane and then drove it home. Ran the car in one weekend and got the first service done after owning the car for a few days!!
  11. What model is it?? Pre or post facelift?? Personally it sounds like the synchro is gonsky and a heavier clutch ain't gonna fix it. Clutch adjustment was done only on pre facelift's but if you have a facelift model you could try and push the point with your dealer but you prolly won't get too far. Luckily for me I had a very unusual problem with mine in that 2nd and 5th gears were very hard to select and both synchro's started to deterioriate very quickly for some unknown reason even with oil changes more frequent than Toyota suggests. I had the clutch adjustment done previous and it solved the shifting prob but left me with a bad clutch shudder just above idle. The dealer who did the adjustment didn't want to know so I went to another who couldn't help enough!! They replaced both 2nd gear and fifth gear synchro's and gear sets and selectors and machined my flywheel and put a new clutch kit in as well. When pulling the 6 speed apart 6th gear usually breaks when trying to remove it from the mainshaft and mine did so I got a new one of them too. All this done on a car with 84 000k's on it. It's all about how you present your case and be willing to accept their decision. But I guess I am also very persuasive and it also helps when you know more about the car than they do....

The CES CAI IS LOUDER than the TRD CAI hands down.
  13. You think I really want to sell it either??? My choices are a house and a second hand car or a car...... tough decision I know but my mind is made up. :(
  14. Check out registry for a heap of new mods or turn up at National meet to have a peep:)

  16. I have an ITG pod with my TRD CAI on my car. When I come to Sydney for the national meet you can gauge how loud it is. But I will tell you this - A CES CAI with the K&N filter it comes with is by far louder than the TRD CAI or any other I have heard. We have noise tested cars on the dyno at the CES dyno day. Most with the CES exhaust system are around the 87-90db. Some with aftermarket cannons etc are as high as 118db. Just crazy!! We measured intake noise and TRD CAI's with the TRD filter were 110db. Cannot remember what some of the others were. But were all around that range(107 to 115db)
  17. Never get tired of watching it. The guy is a genius!!
  18. The beauty of owning your own business that can do a service.... absolutely priceless. The cost of parts and a few hours work is a small price to pay.
  19. Buy a badger??? Don't they increase in value the older they get?? (Looking Nelson's direction)
  20. Lay off the ice pipe Nelson..... not good LOL
  21. Well hopefully Mark will win and then PP can pour some dollars into some R&D for some new Corolla goodies Or a cash influx for their next "project" car!!
  22. Geez Mark prolly a bit of bad timing for the video to rear up it's ugly head when your trying to sell your car :( but it brings back some good memories of days gone by. Good luck!!!
