  1. If you have the equipment and facilities to do all your own fabricating then custom is deffinately the way to go... the main reason custom jobs seem to cost so much more $$$$ is because the people getting it done are paying someone else to do all the work for them..... eg... a custom exhaust/cooler piping/whatever made by a shop is going to cost 3 to 4 times what it would cost anyone with the tools/know how to make the same thing. We made the catback on my car for approx $300 yet goto a custom exhaust shop and you will probably end up with little or no change from $1000 for the same thing .... But in saying that not everyone has the tools/skills/initiative to do it themselves so they pay these places the overly inflated prices..... In All, if you have the tools/knowledge /skills then a DIY custom kit will always be cheaper and you have the satisfaction of knowing exactally what was done and how it was done.... and not to mention all the stuff you learn along the way.... hands on experience is 2nd to none.... and mistakes can be costly :P and some sort of warranty is always a nice thing to sleep on ;)
  2. Far too many plastic bimbo's for my likening...
  3. not physically possible to do it. VTEC cams are totally different to non VTEC cams as well as the rocker arms etc etc. Yes you can put a VTEC head on a non VTEC bottom end. It's been happening for years. I'd say "I don't know but if you say it can be done then you do it". Even suggest a place to go and get it done and of course take the camera for posterity!!!!
  4. If I'm not mistaken the last picture was taken at Tangalooma resort on Moreton Island???
  5. Yeah where's all the hardcore Corolla owners from Vic??? You guys have got about the same distance to travel as we do from Qld so how bout making an effort C'mon now don't be shy on us It's just not like you guys to be shy!!! You're on here all the time so how bout coming up and having some fun with everyone else!!! I dare you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  6. Care factor??? Priorities mate. Sydney is where you need to be ;)
  7. they should introduce a law that stops certain plates from going on certain cars. Like 14SHW (one for show) plates on a stock commodore ute that I know of. Please that is what annoys me <_<
  8. Will be a sad day when she drives off and you know it's no longer yours. Mate go with the Euro. Then you can get Peekay to get you all the goodies for it at a discounted price LOL. I'm dreading the day the Silvabullit will go on the market. :( Hopefully it'll go to someone who lives a very long way away from me so I don't see it in a state of disrepair. Good luck with buying a new car mate and congrats on the bub
  9. They are all great ideas guys but as Dylan has said some of us will have already driven 1000k's before we get there so driving all weekend isn't what I want to do. A cruise would be nice but not something hundreds of k's long. I would presume that most of us interstaters would like to see the sights of around the city centre and surrounding areas going to all the touristy spots for a gander. And a definate is a meet up at Krispy Cremes for donuts as they don't have any up here is Brisbane and I have already been given orders by my wife not to come home without some or else....
  10. Welcome to TOCAU mate. Another Queenslander(albeit far north LOL) Hope you enjoy your stay :D
  11. Must have been a meeting with himself cause he sure wasn't out at the usual meet up. Actually haven't seen Pippy for nearly a year now.... CES CAI is mild steel HPC coated. Don't worry about Northy... he's enjoying the spoils of being unemployed and sleeping in till whatever time :P
  12. Nah mate it's all over. It's the best of 5 games but the first to win 3 games. If the Bullets had of lost last night then there would be a game 5.
  13. You'd know mate cause I don't wear them.... :P they're against my religon you know
  14. Spotted Wei Wei on compton Rd this arvo with passenger in tow. I was the one blasting the horn in a school bus at you LOL
  15. Well if you put Northy, Azza, JC, myself and a couple of others in one group then we'll need the bigger karts cause we are all of ample "girth" and you can't fit a owl in a budgie cage if you know what I mean...
  16. Well my team the Brissy bullets have finally won the Phillips NBL Championship over the Melbourne tigers tonight 103 -94. A great season for the Bullets with Joey Wright named coach of the year, Sam Mackinnon named defensive player of the year, NBL All first team, and the icing on the cake the MVP of the finals. Congrats boys you have made me a happy fan at long last!!!!! A big congrats to my mate the manager of the Bullets "Big Joe" for all his efforts as well. Congrats mate and bring that trophy home from Melbourne boys and let the celebrations begin
  17. Well I keep coming home to find a blue R32 golf parked in my driveway...
  18. Rob - I'm bringing a big fat roll of 100mph tape to tape your mouth shut and do whatever the stretchy straps don't. As for dirt roads I'll pass. And as for go karts i notice all the people who weigh under 60kg are keen..... Maybe we need weight categories..... up to 70kg and over 70kg that way us big fella's stand a chance :D
  19. Why get them from the states when CES our forum sponsor already do them....
  20. I got 83 000k's from my stock clutch and it still had heaps in it. the only reason it was replaced was the nice people at Toyota fixed my gearbox issues and I also got a new clutch kit fitted as I had a bit of a clutch shudder just above idle. All under warranty People at Toyota are just so nice.......well to me anyway
  21. Drove one of our Civic's with just headers on to the exhaust shop many a year ago. It was really loud and if you got off the throttle quick it would shoot flames out under neath which was pretty exciting but it lost a hell of a lot of power not just low down even noticable at the top end(9200rpm)
  22. MMMM me thinks I might have to get some pics of the VW Kombi's that my Unlce sets up for offorad/beach use. Big wheels and a lot more ground clearance than one of those things LOL
  23. MMM dyno would be *** but depends on how many cars. Well all our cars on the same dyno on the same day..... that should stop all the whinging and excuses shouldn't it??? Should be interesting to see that's for sure(plus my car will be well over 100 000k's by then :P ) so that should give you all a good chance
  24. Mate you should drive up to Brisbane sometime. I reckon on a rough guess that I would be at least 5 plus Sportivo's on a daily basis. :D
