  1. this is what happens when you are the best in the business, when u stuff up a little tiny bit, you get your a$$ smacked. when GM or Ford stuffs up with endless recalls after recalls, no one gives a damn because its expected that they would produce a higher % of unreliable cars. i remember when the holden cruze sedan (& not the suzuki ignis cruze) was released in aust, it had already been recalled due to fuel tank issues. you dont see the toyota rukus being recalled weeks after being released. anyway, this kind of reaction is expected and typical bottomline - toyota are still the best but with some reputation holes, but then again, which car manufacturer doesnt?!?!!!!??!?!?!?!?
  2. why do u want to supply your own sythetic when toyota's genuine sythetic is probably relabelled from an oil supplier like castrol or mobil? and you pay for the oil in your service...so bring your own would cost you double.
  3. unreliably overpriced, plus, at that price, you cant get a good beamer/merc. the most value for money way purchase australian muscle cars are through company leases. makes car loans redundant well we can have it both ways can we? its either average quality interior and the ability to give an m3/amg a run for their money, or it'll be just another locally made and failed luxury sedan by ford. yes indeed. u might roll up at the lights next to a nice option-ed up 2.0T audi, but meh, your xr6t was spare change compared to the audi, and u can smoke them at green.
  4. answers to questions =) a. no, stones will go right through them. Proof? if you hold the adhesive straight up and put a pen through it, it will pinch a hole b. adhesive will not damage the clear coat - however if stuck on for long periods or under hot conditions, removal will cost you in either heavy elbow greasing or the use strong bug and tar compounds, and many attempts and applications. just imagine that on the front area of the bonnet and the whole front bumper. bye bye weekend/s c. up2u. a role of $50 sounds good because its for automotive purposes, and the adhesives used are supposed to last from 0 to XXX hours dependant on which one u get. plus a stone @ 100km/h will find it tough to break the layer. d. should also look at automotive windshield insurance from your insurer. dont underestimate the power of a small stone hitting glass @ that speed. I got one small little chip but as i went on rough roads, the prick make a huge hairline crack 30cm long. what was worst? it was in the centre of the windshield FFS. was a paranoid? YES. replacement was only $30 instead of the $400 odd!
  5. totally wrong assumption there. I would LOVE to drive and own an XR6T in firey burning RED. I would cream at the chance of owning one. And if i roll up at the lights next to another asian (so yes, just confirming i'm also asian) in his over-rated and over-priced german machine, and he decides to give me all he's got - the XR6T may loose...or it may have the very real possibility of smashing the ego-istic, face-seeking, status-poof**** desiring dude in his not so dream machine anymore. lol. the safe assumption would be - most asians who purchased a Commolcon (not very good @ thinking differently to falcodores), purchased them as stock standard models and expected them to last a lifetime - i.e. up to 250,000kms. however while trying, they experienced all the things that wouldnt go wrong in a jap car, to go wrong. and not only that, they expected fuel consumption to hover around 9-10L/100km. so its that multiplied by 1,000,000 asians and you can see why bad word of mouth suddenly jumps from 1,000,000 to 1 Billion. silly to expect fuel consumption to hover around 10L/100km? Yes silly to expect non-jap making cars to be as reliable as jap cars? Yes (because no culture can compare to the japs) And the most important assumption of them all is, those who purchase stock standard Commolcons are tight-a$$ in terms of $$$. So, they will regret the fuel cost. Having said that, i currently dont care to bits what my camry does, because i know it will never reach beyond 10L/100km - no matter how hard i try to burn the tiny heavy donkey camry. but if i owned an XR6T i would be cautious. So, in my opinion, i would only ever own an XR6T/Commolcons if it were through company novated leases - because its just soooooooo much cheaper than actually owning one outright.
  6. very nice indeed. questions - where on earth did u get the clear/black signal lighting compartments from? or did u disect them yourself? ive seen most ppl with the angel eyes on the svx20 camrys but never black/clear on front side signal lamps. that camry sure is worthy of a LE badge. one thing, change your halogens from yellow light to white light - philips crystal vision is ok. PIAA is a little better.
  7. Collinite No73 is one of the best cleaner waxes ive ever used for the price
  8. most ppl think its possible to have a perfect finish on a vehicle. it is, however its IMPOSSIBLE not create swirls and cobwebs. every wash you perform will create swirls and cobwebs and other imperfections, its just a question of how minimal or maximal they are. the use of claimed "non scratch" materials only serve to minimize the creation of swirls, and its usually the detailer's or the person's technique that creates the surface imperfections, rather than the materials themselves. so when the ferrari is out of the factory, it will have imperfections such as swirling and cobwebbing because the final inspection stages will require a showroom buff, creating swirls. and if its from a dealer, it will have a heap of imperfections because their attention to detail and care of their cars are no match for true professional detailers - be it a ferrari or a toyota dealer. to give u a better idea - doing these will cause surface imperfections, and there's no escaping!: car wash sitting on car - naked or with jeans (how many times have you seen top gear hosts wearing harsh jeans and sitting on million dollar cars? all the time...) residue removal light finger nail run through dirt/sand bugs ....pretti much everything except viruses and air. so just because its a supercar doesnt mean its' finish is going to be better than a daily drivers, cuz most ppl who own them know nothing about detailing, some may constantly get them detailed but most have no idea, so they do it with a garage cloth. thats why there's money to be made in the detailing industry if you're in the right place.
  9. whatever you do, just dont get er300s again. did u rotate your tyres? 25,000kms on the fronts seem a tad retarded, unless u didnt rotate them which is why. i can strongly recommend the Toyo Teo plus for everyday and random fling with the car. or a new one which i have no experience of but have read great durability & wet performance - Toyo Eco Walker my size is 215/55/16 with the teo plus and its currently at 40000kms - rotated every 7500km approx and i can easily see another 10000-15000, another 20000kms would see it at the thread warning level. approx 60000 is not bad for a heavy donkey, and i turn recklessly - cant hoon though hahaha. just google it, and a summary of people's experiences have been - for the price, these things outlast the dearer competition, easily.
  10. good to hear and see u stay japanese/australian boy! i spent 8hours with an HSV GTS. it was nice. v8, 317kw, but, found 5 shotty build quality issues. 1 was just plain dodgy. i mean wtf. i was detailing the car and then out of no where, i stubbled on this clicking door plastic trim on the exterior. it was shaking as i touched it. on the otherside, the same part was rock solid. evidence of the production line missing a crucial step in not APPLYING GLUE to that part. when i opened the door, the plastic trim could easily be forced out with what little glue it had on 1 side. w-t-f. u'd think for a HSV at least they couldve got at minimal, build quality on the exteriors right - but no. ive had wonderful experiences with fords and XR6T, and their build quality (a little betta than holdens!!!!!). i think the feel of the turbo (a small one on the xr6t though)is so much more rewarding than a blood thrusty truck on 4 wheels. XR8s will died too soon because everyone buys the turbo6s. imo to justify u going from an aurion to an aussie mean unreliable machine, u'd have to look exclusively at fpv or hsv. maybe a xr6t cuz i have a soft spot for them B)
  11. mudman, are you digging up old posts again? haha kidding. its good cuz i cant for the life of me remember saying what i said 2 years ago. it must have been reeeeaaaalllll important. lol.
  12. Answer to that = FOREVER AND EVER AND EVER hahaha. this reminds me of that top gear episode when they were running on empty redlight for hours and hours. Jerry boy's v8/v10/v-whatever jag had a huge tank, and when he stop, the top gear dudes found out there was still plenty in reserve...it just wasnt funni.
  13. mmmmm carnauba and sythetic coupling...IM EXCITED BABY! nothing beats a 5min spray and wax. oh the smell, yummmmmmmmy jelly like candy....i hate it when megs do that. they put the same fragrance from purple bubble gum in their purple long lasting tyre shine gel. drives me nuts!!!!! EDIT: BTW, feels good to save time doesnt it!
  14. something to bare in mind though. its about the technique rather than having one, jab on your cream of sort and cover the surface. its good to grab a vid tutorial or learn from someone who is pro with the orbital. directions on most orbitals when purchased are insufficient as they dont let u in on detailer's secrets. having said that, highly recommend the Megs DA - very similar to the one Todd the man used, but his looks like a porter cable label (Megs is a customized PC machine)
  15. u can never compare a normal detailer to a niche detailer. u can pay someone $350 for a 4 hours job, or you can pay someone for 3-7days. great post, puts us all to shame hehe but lovely lovely lovely. i like how 105/205 combo was used.
  16. what have you been using all this time?!
  17. the gts was nice to drive. i took it for a spin on the mountain (mt panarama here in bathurst) and geez, dont do that again because you'll be biting yourself every single second you're at or under 60km/h (which was the whole duration because thats the speed limit!!!). if you're over, the cops have you within SECONDS lol.....stalking you, radar gunning you to check, check and recheck LOL. they only do that on cars they know are worthly to grab some commission har har har. drinks like a truck - but then again which aussie car doesnt? clutch was surprisingly easy and light. no wonder p-platers &/or hooners like them. i thought it would be a heavy one so i accidentally went from 0-40km/h in lightyear speed. it was a new car and i found some panels worth of a warranty check <_< was not impressed by the build qualty of these things.
  18. yea only paste version in aust, they used to sell the liquid but those who use it (experienced blokes) didnt need liquid because of the age old assumption that paste is more potent. they also stop liquid because hardly anyone used it on their DA. to be frank, i dont know alot of ppl who use finishing pads & their DA to wax - u just waste too much. hand is the best for waxing process. its up to you to decide really. some dude who uses one or the other may say that the one which performs poorer, is better. its like asking someone which speaker sounds better in the world of hifi? - subjective - unless someone has done unbaised tests in control environments. does a luxury wax that costs $5000 per 475gram going to outperform one that costs $42? If not, why do people use it? if so, why cant we mass produce that $5000 wax at economies of scale to decrease the product cost? (and dont give me the excuse that its because of some exotic tree in brazil - because all natural wax sources are sourced from the same plantation.)
  19. nice collection there. you dont wanna seee mine.....thats for sure. ive also been collection some from the states, those hard to find items har har har how i love wasting my money (i dont really, i regret it after awhile LOL but it still goooooooooood)
  20. Note: I mentioned that x2 coats of Nxt Tech 2.0 was applied, both applications separated in 24hour lengths. Reason: It has been chemically proven to enhance the effect of even application and prolong wax duration. The chemists in Meguiarland have mentioned thats when nxt 2.0 is best chemically bonded to apply the 2nd coating - after a 24hour cure time This 24hour cure time is also applicable for UQW & UQD - esp UQD as it further enhances gloss.
  21. There were a heap more fotos but this would have been a 60 pages thread. Cheerio
  22. I tried so hard to focus on anything, but there were minmal swirls and cobwebs to focus on. so i had to increase the length of foto capture. this was the best i could do with my TZ15
  23. 15mls of pressure throughout all panels of the car to removal light swirls and cobwebbing for an average result. Results are not perfect but chances are the client will put the scratches back on again. After a long long time of D151-ing, application of x2 coats of Tech Wax 2.0, with a 24hour resting time and then the 2nd coat applied. Note, no mls of pressure on wax application. Waxation to be hazed off. LSP stage - UQW applied with x2 of these Megs Supreme Microfibre cloth. they might cost you a BOMB but heck, they are the the BEST. Tyre Shine application. x2 coats of gel application. no excuses for being lazy because its a 20' profile tyre hence short tyre wall Results - Before and Afters
  24. Scratch on drivers side mirror Applied 15mls of pressure and 3 coats for a reasonable result. Again not perfect but will do. MMM smell of bugs. Soaked the bottom front with D14105 Body Solvent from Meg's Detailer Line Engine. Dust and grime. Application of D15101 Paint Reconditioning Cream from the Meg's Detailer Line
  25. After wash condition. That bottle might look like a waterless solution, but i used D14001 from the Meg's Detailer Line Clay Time! Meguair's retail level clay with not Quik Detailer, but 1:1 dilution of Last Touch from Meg's Detailer Line. Contaminants from the bonnet - 1/3 only. not too bad. Contaminants from the doors. fine example of lots of country driving. Contaminants from the rear bumper - insanely too much for me to handle. this car is only 1 year old. goes to show how long this car spend in the new car yard before sale. Bird dropping itching. Scratch X 2.0 applied to rid imperfection Scratch X 2.0 - 10mls of pressure and coated 5 times to attain good results. Not perfect but will do.
