  1. Track prep under way. DIY'd the IMPULS black and fitted Potenza RE55's. Picked up rear camber bolts today, already have fronts. Received QFM F/R pads yesterday, just need to buy all the fluids and servicing gear. I'll update soon
  2. Small bump; I was cruising through the local wreckers not really looking for anything in particular. Didn't find much until on the way out I stumbled across a 'TEA' or 'TEQ' oil filler cap, the symbols actually spell out "TO/YO/TA" in Japanese. Thought that was pretty awesome so I grabbed another of an older Cressida import. As I was about to head out I stumbled across a rare AWD drive spec AE95 sedan. It suffered some damage but that didn't stop me rummaging throughout the car. It had electric everything; windows/sunroof/fold-in mirrors. An optional button to activate AWD mode, centre console DIN cup holder, red velour interior and window visors. It was missing the rear driver side visor so I grabbed the fronts and here they are! Might go back tomorrow... :D
  3. 100% whole heartedly agree with what Andy has said. I've organised a few twincam meets without incident with predominantly most, if not all based on inner-suburbia cruises. I've always stated and asked that all in attendance to please adhere to the speed limits and not to do anything irrational, we don't want trouble with the police or give the club a bad name. So far, so good. Andy dropped by my workplace on Sunday to inform me of the incident and I can tell you now, he looked absolutely smashed/shattered/dissapointed. It is one of the sole reasons why I don't organise any (more) mountain runs as it's too dangerous/unpredictable with what others can/will do. I am not stating that the majority are wreckless but there are a select few who take it to the extremes. If you think back to the Great Ocean Road (GOR) cruise recently gone by; I read something along the lines of 'keeping up' and 'overtaking', I commented on the nature of the road and to take caution at all times but was refuted that it was all jokes and games. Another thing, the recording of the runs. For the most of it, yes no/little laws are broken until you decide to make a 'better' video by displaying your cornering 'capabilities'. What this has recently resulted in, is clear; a member of the public has had his/her car damaged by one our members. It is why I have always stated that if you have something to prove; take it to to the circuit and let rip. It will come at a cost but it'll be something you can proud off after divesting so much effort, money and pride into your car. I might be out of line but it has to be said; For the entirety of it, we are a great bunch of people and do not want/need unecessary acts to have fun. Take your time, go at your pace and who cares if your car is quicker/slower than others. Thats my $2.02 cents
  4. Well my IMPULS arrived However I may be taking another route and am contemplating about selling the wheels and semi slicks. Wheels are IMPUL RS's; 14 x 6.5 +15 offset 4 x100 with centre ring and cap. Tyres are Bridgestone Potenza RE55S's 185/55/R14, all right handed side but brand new just without sticker. PM if interested - I'll finalise contemplating in the next few days. And also at the recent JDMST meet Until next time, :)
  5. He's/His white I'm not racist.. lol
  6. It's been awhile since I posted up proper pics so here are some with my new muffler. It's a Fujitsubo Main Factory single tip that replaces the sissy pea-shooter muffler I had to clear the EPA. Still got it, even though it's been a while. To be honest I quite like it! lol And how she currently sits No engine bay shots as it looks identical to what it use to, just breathes a little better :) Thanks for looking
  7. Hey Lee, Don't have to run it in as it was the head that was replaced, the bottom end remains so that's all good. Can't really give it some as I have to get the ignition timing finalised. As for the wheels, yeh they are around the 4.5kg mark or so. you can lift them with 2 fingers (first thing I did when I got them lol). Spotted your car earlier in the week going north bound on Springvale road, the P1's looks the good!
  8. Car's back on the road now
  9. Damn, 1.49 on road tyres first time? That's gonna be a fair task, unless your talking semi slicks. Took me 6 goes to hit 1.50 flat and that was on semi's lol but if you think thats manageable then go for it!
  10. Oh yeh these are the wheels en route IMPUL RS's 14 x 6.5 +15 PCD100
  11. As some of you may or may not know, I did the head gasket around 2 months back. In that time, I did some thinking and thought replacing the head gasket would have been a cheap fix but have decided to go a step (or 3 further). To be installed are the following: - Replacement 4AG Small port head with ports cleaned up - Big Port cams - GREDDY Timing belt w/ all new ancillary belts - TODA 1.0mm head gasket - Reinforced head bolts from Japan - Timing belt tensioner - GMB water pump - New Penrite oil/Ryco oil filter/Toyota Long life Coolant And for pics.. Out with the old... In with the new... Water pump and tensioner installed, block cleaned/prepped for new head install. You can see my Cusco brake master cylinder brace there too. Belts ect to be fitted Went to take a look at the cars' progress and so far so good. Head bolts from Japan are noticeably thicker, head is currently on the bench having the the clearances finalised and also picked up a set of new old stock Bridgestone RE55S tyres for the wheels coming from Japan. Thanks for looking
  12. Nah head to head got it for me, I just checked - it's actually Permaseal and they said it was fine so I'll have to wait and see what happens.
  13. Hey Mick, VRS kit was $260 for an ACL one, should have bought yours but that's life for you. They reassured that the ACL kit was good enough for anything from daily to motorsport usage. Guess I'll have to wait and see
  14. Since that photo, the head was taken to a head specialist to have the head reassembled with the cams and new valve stem seals along with clearances check ect, that cost me $864 for labour and the VRS kit. Now, the car has been towed to the workshop and will have the following parts fitted: head TODA 1.0mm head gasket (slightly raised compression) JDM reinforced/strengthened head bolts GReddy Timing Belt replace all accessory (alternator/power steering/ water pump) belts replace water pump replace oil/oil filter Have another set of wheels coming from Japan and will be wrapped up in brand new Bridgestone RE55S semi slicks for November track day. Have a few more parts here/there needed to be either bought or fitted. Have booked car in for two track days in November. Pics will come. Thanks.
  15. You will never, Ever. See this guy at a meet again. Thats for sure!
  16. Nice car Andy, looks familiar somewhat lol All this hero car talk on the roads calls for a battle at Winton in November. You wanna battle, take it off the road and keep it on the track boys :)
  17. For those that may or may not have known, my car suffered a blown head gasket and so rather than just replacing the H/G, I've decided to go one better and replace the head with the ported one I sold previously. The head had the ports mildly ported/cleaned up and were chemically cleaned. It's now at the workshop for reassembly (w/ new valve stem seals) and check clearances. Pictured also are some semi adjustable cam gears and big port cams. The cams offer slightly more lift and duration (240degree duration/7.56mm lift vs 232 degree/7.1mm lift) for $50, I'm not complaining. Should be purchasing a 1mm TODA head gasket next week for a bit more compression. Anyway, bring on Winton and 1.47 baby! (when it's done anyway) cheers
  18. Sorry for the no-go guys, car blew a head gasket so it's getting some work done. Hopefully will be in for the next one, have fun and drive safe. I back what BKS says about overtaking on GOR, it's extremely dangerous and if you MUST do so, take extra precaution. (I've done the GOR run numerous times and have seen some shockers)
  19. Nice work Mick, would the 15w-60 oil be a bit thick or you think it'll be ok? I run the 10w-50 in mine. Sick score on the Fumoto oil drain as well, heard they're good stuff!
  20. That guy is actually far from incompetent; the car puts down laps in the sub 1.40 bracket and is quite docile. The only reason you guys feel intimidated is that being a fun day there is no incorporated Groups or Sessions so it's a free for all. The guy has gone to a crap load of Tampered Days and races with EVOs/Supra's/GTRs; thats why I keep pointing out the importance of going to a time track day. People just want a quick time and there is more racer:noob ratio so your given your own space. Either way, looks like fun.
  21. Thanks man, I was at the Mt.Dandenong cruise last time, think I met you. I remember a Trung anyway :P As for track racing; I'm organising a track day in November at Winton. So maybe we can battle it out. Guni's got a few seconds to make up on me (hint hint) lol
  22. Guys, no more fun days. Time to actually go to a timed event. Less traffic, timed and something to strive for with each new mod. I'll keep you posted.
  23. Good to see you had fun! I've been to Winton 7 times now and everytime, I've beaten my previous PB. Each time I go, I've always had something done (or 3 lol). About the only pointers I could give you is to work on your racing lines. You'll find that once you find a line you like, you can work with it and then start to heal-toe so you can rev match the speed to the revs so you can prolong your gearboxes' longevity. Also, fluid. Absolutely essential as it is the life blood of your car. Engine oil, radiator fluid, brake fluid, gearbox fluid - are either all topped or changed before race day and it'll give you peace of mind that your car is protected. You can never, ever have enough brakes or grip on a race track. I catch all the turbo cars' on the brakes due to the little power my car makes. The harder you can brake, the less time spent braking and more time on the go-pedal. As for your list, I'll compare mine: 1. Longer ratio on 3rd gear and more acceleration on 2nd gear check, powerband for my car pulls well from 2nd through to 4th 2. Front strut brace check x2 3. Front sway bar check F/R 4. Better brake pads check F/R 5. Front slotted rotors check F 6. Coilovers check, well KYB's 7. High end tyres - Federal 595s? check, Advan A048s 8. Bucket seats check 9. Greatly improved throttle response 10. LSD 11. Tough gearbox eg. Hollinger? Check, fully overhauled 'box w/ associated parts 12. Exedy race clutch Check, Exedy H/D 13. Lift In short, racing is addictive and bloody expensive. But hey when you catch match it with the turbo boys with 64kw, nothing beats it lol.
