  1. I've already got 3 dudes riding in my car and yeh we going up the night before. Peters' work ute ftw!
  2. I mentioned it in the previous updates! You're coming yeh? Alister will be coming so same deal as last I'm assuming. Need to leech your goPro with Spot Meter setting :P
  3. Took the car in to get tuned at Chequered/Status Tuning; a very common name amongst the JZX Vic guys having tuned many 1J's so I knew I was in good hands. Results below; apologies for the pics as I don't have a scanner Gained 34rw Nm of Torque and 20rwkw. Low end is very much similar but picks up at 3000rpm when full boost arrives and continues until redline To play it safe, boost now sits at a tad under 13psi. Full boost by 3000rpm is Awesome but tapers slightly. Towards the end of the tune, the spark plugs were starting to pack their bags.. ..but AFR's have been stabilised slightly How does the car feel? Vastly different! The pick up at 3000rpm is phenomenal! It doesn't produce a heap of power which is fine, I was after response and safe AFR's really so it's paid of well. A few issues encountered on the way however. A) The SAFC's throttle input feeds of the ECTS input so disconnecting the plug would foul throttle readings. Tune was completed with ECTS button turned off instead. B) AEM boost solenoid was cactus; would not respond to increased boost settings so a Turbosmart one replaced it and C) OEM spec NGK plugs began to missfire so they will be replaced with one's in the next heat range along with Eagle spark plugs
  4. It feels expensive, very expensive. lol
  5. Wow OEM upgrades are looking good Mick, like where this is going :D
  6. Selling my TOM'S steering wheel with TRD horn button as I plan on getting the car tuned so either one or the other. Both items are genuine, the wheel is in excellent condition with very minor blemishes on the face and the stitching still intact. It's a 350mm item with a slight concave. Looking for around the $200 mark and can throw it in a Toyota boss kit - don't know if it'll work with the Corolla's as it's meant for an MR2. Can sell with a JZX100 which apparently fits alot of Cressida/Crown/Supra era chassis. Located in S.E Melbourne but happy to post at buyers' expense. Please PM if interested
  7. Everyone's got a Nardi, plus I'm not baller enough like you to get a Classic 330mm - oh well TOM'S will do!
  8. Not alot of an update but one none the less. So if last update was Suspension oriented, this can be Interior Based (warning: this will get pretty boring lol) One day while browsing eBay (as we all do ), I stumbled across a genuine TOM'S steering wheel for a relatively low starting price with minimal bids and was ending soon. I figured I probably wouldn't win, so put in an amount I was happy to pay and left it; a few hours later and damn, I'm now the rightful owner I previously had one in my Corolla (330mm) and thought it was probably the best 'wheel I've owned. This ones' slightly larger at 350mm but in excellent condition and came with the TRD horn button. Sweeeet! Hoping the boss kit arrives by end of week. Next up were the gauges. Let's back track slightly. The AEM boost gauge/controller I also won off eBay, again I wasn't expecting to win but got lucky as it had just reached my reserved price. About two weeks later I then scored the water temp gauge (new) from another forum at a discounted price. Life couldn't get much better! For a small while they looked like this: (note they USDM gauges hence Fahrenheit readings) I then went on holidays to the 'States and wanted to get an Oil Temp gauge to complete the trio however my cousin ended up purchasing one for me as a gift (sweeeet!). Anyway, get back and thought I'll hit up trusty eBay for a triple gauge pod. That turned to a shi.t-fight when the seller decided to take well over 3 weeks to dispatch the damn thing. Regardless it got here and after a failed attempt; it just looked f.ucking awful; the mount didn't fit well and a clump of wires leading onto the dash was pleading for a canary. On the bright side, they all worked a treat! Another week would go by before I got some spare time and paid a visit to Autobahn. After getting my ***** reamed for a new DIN mount, I got to work on re-routing the wires from the dash to the centre console and molesting the fascia with the dremel. With numerous test fits yielding good results, I moved the head-unit to the lower half and put everything together and the results speak for themselves! It's like a disco went off inside the car now SAFC displays graphs and stuff, AEM has all these readings and then there's the Ecliptech shift light on the steering column. Regardless, I'm now contempt with the interior - more-so once the steering wheel goes in. QFM Resma brake pads have been purchased with intentions of hitting up Winton for a 'shake-down' test this weekend but work has called me in to cover an emergency shift so that's a slight set back. On the bright side, the Chaser is very close to being fully paid off so I might get abit serious and aim for a '37/38 time with a few additional parts. All this in the space of 10 months ownership **** cars!
  9. check your fuses and/or earths. Post up the pic u showed me.. with said cousins car lol
  10. oh ok guess u can just meet me there :P I'll be there around 7:30-8pm
  11. Peter I might be sailing in if the docks have a wide enough birthing :P You wanna car pool with me?
  12. That's actually the front sway bar Ben. Slightly bigger but solid bar which makes it count. GoPro belongs to Peter which he knows how to use well so it'll be better next time 'round :) Justin, I had to enter via MelbS15 process so it's up to the guy organising it to get people in. There is a waiting list at is and might be hard to get on as the majority have already paid for entry.
  13. lol aqua-tint, I ain't no Nissan :P And yeh Tampered day in September but it's booked out (MelbS15 did a deal and filled all spots with another crew/group)
  14. Update! Post holidays, I decided to get to work on where/what the car needed most and that was the handling aspect of things. First off was my rooted diff bushes. Every hard shift resulted in an audible and at times brutal 'clunk' noise as the diff would transfer all the power to the drive-shafts without suppression. In the wet, it would axle-tramped everywhere and was just annoying to drive at times. What they looked like: Replacements Scoured eBay one night and noticed some OEM replacement ones for cheap. Placed my bid and suprisingly won! I guess all the cool kids go poly/TRD/metal but I'm happy with OEM stuff. Once installed, the car was hugely transformed No shudder, no vibrations, minimal axle tramp and gets power down a whole heap smoother! Many thanks to the SG boys for install Many after hours at work saw me purchase a KTS triangle brace and TRD castor rod bushes thrown in for good measure. My original bushes were expired so now was a good time do both in one hit, having spare castor rods at home I had the TRD bushes pressed in at work and did the install with a borrowed hoist with one of the mechanics afterwards. Understeer and oversteer explained And fitted! Extra mounting points on the castor rods and subframe with a reinforced centre makes me, one VERY happy boy! Incredible turn-in prowess now, especially for such a large car as it is.. Car is booked in for another track day at Winton in September. Would like to see high 1.30's (even a 1.39.9!) now with upgraded suspension. Considering upgrading pads as I'm still on OEM Supra pads, already have QFM HP-X's for the rear but need to fit still. Lastly, car may go in for a tune. Need to set the boost controller up and have the SAFC adjusted accordingly. Car got tinted recently and this is a photo I've had to leech from someone at a dyno day Thanks for viewing!
  15. Buy my fixed back and with super low rails for more awesome :P
  16. Very clear shots! Thanks Justin :)
  17. lol you did do the cool nod - the, 'suhppp' nod haha
  18. u nong! I waved at you and you nodded back lol
  19. lol hopefully a tune will rectify that :P
  20. Ok so I decided to work on the sway bars. Both items are Cusco's with my brother managing to get the front one first from a friends' car. I was actually quite reluctant but couldn't say no at the price. It hung from my bunk bed for a fair few weeks as I decided to purchase a KTS rear sway once I had returned from my holiday to the 'States. As luck would have it, a mate linked me to a Cusco rear sway he found locally and within an hour we went to pick it up - needless to say, I was a pretty happy boy! Luckily, the install went faultlessly. I've heard/seen horror stories of snow cars making it an absolute b*tch of a job but the cars' relatively clean undercarriage saw little if no rust where the sway bars were and just over an hour later; both were lubed/fitted/tightened and ready for a test drive. Yep, pretty awesome I must say! A whole lot less roll mid corner and very planted all 'round. Yet to test it out in the dry but things are looking promising Japanese Import Spares are currently nil stock of KTS triangle braces but once they've received more then I'll be making the purchase as the car could do with slightly better turn-in feel. Also managed to service the car. The spark plugs I got from work - they're OEM spec Have new/standard diff bushes that needs to go in as mine are rooted and axle tramps everywhere. While overseas, I purchased an AEM gauge to measure oil temps so that'll be fitted once my gauge pod/holder arrives in the coming week or so. Also replaced my wipers with genuine Toyota/Lexus aero wipers - so much more quieter! Lastly, have inquired about getting the car tuned and boost controller set-up to run 1 bar around mid July. September will mark 1 years' ownership so I'll be taking it to Winton to try and crack the illusive 1.39 barrier. Time will tell but here's hoping...!
