  1. Thanks guys :) Well as you may/may not have known, I went circuit racing today at Winton Raceway, again. Since joining the Chaser fraternity, I decided to see who was keen to battle it out for the title for the fastest Toyota Chaser/Mark II and boy did a battle ensue! All up there were 7 JZX100's: 4 Chasers and 3 Mark II's. Also in our group were 3 Lancer Evolutions, 1 Accord, 1 Renault and a Liberty B4 - essentially a battle of the Sedans' if you like! Below gives you an indication of how the JZX100's stacked up: 1. Chaser - 1:42.1600 (200wkw/lots of experience/drift-car (also a Chaser) has done 1.39) 2. Chaser - 1:42.1700 (285wkw/ LOTs of mods/ shagged R888's) 3. Mark II - 1:44.0320 (BPU+/ Federal 595 RSR's/ v.good driver) 4. Chaser - 1:44.9440 (BPU+/ Federal 595 RSR's/ first timer!) 5. Chaser(me) - 1:46.3550 (BPU/ Falken RT615's/ 2nd w/ Chaser) 6. Mark II - 1:47.6130 (BPU+/ Federal 595 RSR's/ lotssss of mods, average driver) 7. Mark II - 1:47.9500 (Same as above but w/ Advan AD08's) And onto the picsss! Meeting up with the boys for the convoy to Winton Anyone remember my friends Evolution 8 MR? Well since racing with us and managing a 1.47 (last November), he topped the boards with a 1.38.3640 - ahead of an Ariel Atom. Money, does not buy talent! Part of the line up For reference; the car in front is a Mark II and the Chaser is behind it. Both are JZX100's Battttttle! Balls-all-out corner entry haha check out that body rollll yo! Various pics All photos can be viewed in the link below: http://s419.photobucket.com/albums/pp274/boso28/winton181211/?action=view&current=IMG_9264.jpg And finally, heres' a break-down of my Sessions Session One 1:59.8660 1:50.2710 1:48.8580 1:48.4100 1:49.1830 2:33.9510 No PB. Cool weather - Sad monkey Session Two 1:58.8150 1:50.2810 1:49.0640 1:47.8700 PB 2:35.8560 Despite spitting rain at the start, weather cleared and managed a few good laps.. with a passenger! Beat previous PB by about 0.4 of a second Session Three 2:19.0020 2:02.8620 1:51.3890 1:57.5050 1:47.9210 1:47.3340 1:46.3550 PB Re-adjusted tyre pressures. Grew some balls and gave it all I had, yielded good dividends! With the only exception of changing oil/oil filter, the car has remained unchanged since the previous track day. I'm still using the brake fluid from the last day haha! The idea was to go out and 'improve' upon the time by learning my capabilities further in a RWD format; had it be technique or driving lines, I tried it all and went from 1.48.1460 to 1.46.3350; a difference of 1.811 seconds. Admittedly, unplugging the BOV and Traction Control plug did make the car slightly more responsive but the tyres are now no good. At least I got my moneys worth! Anyway, I'm stuffed and need sleeps. Will post up new pics when/if I get them. Thanks for looking
  2. 1. private.number +4 2. jeffy 3. pezzie 4. alistersh 5. fillit 6. jaysonn341 7. d.n - finish work at 8, coming a bit late 8. itsmehuey - pending.. 9. dorifto
  3. For a better ride quality, 17's. Welcome and like everyone says, come to our meets.. :)
  4. Finally got them gaurds rolled, albeit only the rears as it got dark before I could get to the fronts. 'Least it scrubs a whole lot less now :D Yep, I yellow-tinted the fog lights with an adhesive. I like it, it breaks it up somewhat :D Rears were scrub-central but are good now. Whether or not I should keep the wheels or not is my next dilemma.. Forgot to mention that I've also fitted a Broadway 360mm Convex rear-view mirror (awesssssoome!) and also scored an original Chaser drivers' side mirror glass. It's blue tinted from factory (to dim HID lenses) and is angled at the side so you can see your blind-sight. Needless to say, I've now got a whole lot more vision of the car which is good as it's one, very big car haha
  5. Hrm.. I should be in :) Weather looks promising from the monday onwards too
  6. No damage, just that annoying scrubbing noise and lots of people looking/thinking 'wtf!?' Guard rolling time soon!
  7. Thanks guys! After doing some research, the wheels turned out to be Algernon Intelesse's which are made in Japan - woohoo! Not too bad afterall haha. Guards are getting lipped tomorrow
  8. So not alot has happened really. I bought a set of wheels out of impulse and due to not doing my homework prior; the wheels turned out to be replicas. Regardless, they're 18 x 9 +22 with crappy linglongs on lol. BBS LM's :P Rears scrubbed on the way home from Simo Garage (Garage where all the Chaser guys catch-up and work on cars ect). Will be deciding whether to keep them or not in the coming days/week - have to see what happens Rather than a mod, some prick decided it'd be a grouse idea to vandalise the car overnight. Went to work the next morning and noticed I was missing both my gaurd indicators, remaining Work tyre valves gone, no passenger washer jet and a nice gouge in the bonnet from trying to pry it out. I forgot to mention that the drivers side washer jet was also munted because numb-skull couldn't get it out. Needless to say, I wasn't impressed however all of it has been rectified now. Recently, I've changed the fuel filter and yellow-tinted the fog lights. Have a track day coming up this weekend but with no new mods; the challenge will be to PB by just learning to drive the car further. P.S: A friend noted that by blocking the BOV, the 1JZ would be more repsonsive (a common mod on 1JZ's) as the stock item is prone to leaking boost. So, by undoing one plug - I now have awesome flutter. SuuuuutTuTututu! haha
  9. Good to see you're modding the Lexus Alex :D Like everyone says... wheelssss! I'm guessing 19inch minimum with a low offset..?
  10. KU31's aren't at the same level as RE002's/KU36's Ben - off course, if you go to a tyre with lower tread wear then you'd get more grip but less tyre life. I'd Alisters' after longevity rather than grip at the moment. On-topic: top notch work Alister! Did it cost much to get the drive shafts installed?
  11. There's a really good throttle body cleaner I used on the Corolla when I had it - it's in a blue/black can and that thing cleans exceptionally well. It's also designed to clean carburettor engines too - think its about $12 a can.
  12. LOL Alister, I did tell you when you were riding shot gun to give me a yell if you felt uncomfortable :P biggest grin I've seen on a kid, even when I spun out big time!
  13. Thanks guys, yeh abit of a hair-raiser with the barrier not too far off - guess I was lucky to come out unscathed. My brother and his Chaser guys who were watching thought it was definitely going to be totalled haha And another, similar photo taken on the day A few points worth mentioning in regards to the day. My friend in an S2000 went 1.37 in his S2000 and another clocked a 1.36 in his S14 - both really good drivers. The fastest car of the day managed a 1.35 (has done 33's previously). What I've found is that, I can take a similar line to the Corolla but can't drive it with the same style with the completely different layout and weight of the car. Not to mention the Corolla had some serious suspension work in it. One good thing out it is that the Chaser is stable in the straight line; hence you see me driving one hand down the back/main straights haha
  14. Not sure when but rules are rules and it's the first time any of the participants had heard of it too. EXE don't set the rules, they just pass them down and we must abide by it if we're going to use their premises and property. Anyway, here's another video; almost stacked it into the concrete barrier coming out of the 'notorious' S-Bend around the 7min mark or so And an awesome photo taken by one of the guys there :D
  15. Nice suspension upgrade Mick! I'm guessing the damper adjustments would make a noticeable difference?
  16. Ben; the Falkens aren't a semi - it's classified as a high performance road tyre much like KU36s/RE01Rs/AD08s. I actually quite like the S bend, it's an imposing challenge to see what you got and can do. The AE92 undoubtedly was a very good car, it just lacked power. It's why the Ignis Sport can do 48s with ease, thats two now I've seen doing 47/48s at Winton. The AE86s were in the mid to low 50s range, theyre quite new to it but those things are quite capable as well As to losing it; abit too much lock on corner exit with some boost = oh noesss!
  17. Well, what a weekend it's been! On the Friday after work, Peter had organised for a go-karting session out in Somerton. To be honest, I was slightly reluctant due to the shi-tty weather but since Duy offered a ride there, I couldn't really say no. Anyway, so met up with some of the Toyota boys and got busy karting in the 3x10minute stints. First round, I was all over the place (skids in the wet can get addictive!). Found myself focusing more in second session to qualify better for the last round. Managed to place 2nd out of 8 guys - behind Peter, the fast *****! Last round came and it was down to the wire; admittedly he's a better driver and I was only lucky to top him after he spun out (woohoo!) Definitely a re-match next time and big thanks to the guys that attended, it was semi-late notice so there ended up being 8 of us Fastest lap.. by 0.02 of a second :P Now down to the more serious stuff; EXE track day at Winton Raceway As you may have read/seen, I'd been busy prepping the car for the Winton day on the weekends, organised by the EXE Crew - one of the best around I'd say. On Saturday afternoon, I met up with at my friends' workshop to drive up in a convoy of 5 cars. Being wet, it made for an interesting drive; even more-so when the R32 GTR in our group started to play up with idle/stalling issues on the high way. Regardless, we got to Benalla safe and sound and had another friend meet us up there later in the evening. Come race day and we'd packed our gear and headed out early to secure the garages/pits as one of us went and bought (Macca's) breaky for the crew. Parked next to my friends R34 GTR. Thing has 2x2860 turbos, 18x10.5inch wheels all 'round and is stupid loud compared to my HKS Hi-Power Silent exhaust haha So onto the racing part: Session 1: Untimed Winton Raceway changed the rules and so, passenger runs were only allowed in Session 1 and that's it. For some reason, they decided it would also be untimed but entrants were never told. A fair few guys were annoyed at that to say the least. Nonetheless, Alister rode shotgun with me to see what the fuss was all about :P It had been raining the day prior so the track temp was still down and slightly damp. Session 2: 2:09.1710 2:18.4640 1:53.6780 1:50.4100* 2:37.3730 Hit my target time of 1.50-1.53 in the first timed session so I was pretty happy with that! Huge learning curve coming from a Corolla with power to rival a lawn mower that's for sure! Simply put; cars' alot heavier, car has immense torque in 2nd gear, braking is PHENOMINAL with the brake upgrade and plenty of skids were had. Session 3: 1:56.0230 2:04.9800 1:49.7630 1:49.2100 10 1:49.0720* 2:41.9130 Adjusted tyre pressures and noticed that the car was 'twitchier' but had more grip almost everywhere: braking/cornering ect. Started to put mental notes of braking points with cars'/drivers' ability and reeled out a few '49's with a new PB going 1.49 flat. Very happy man I was! Sun had come out by now and the track was dry for the most part Session 4 2:00.3950 1:55.8790 1:50.4320 1:48.1460* 1:49.5170 2:35.4180 Went back into town to refuel - man this thing is thirsty! Got back and did no changes, went out and just tried to adapt to the car and track. By now, track was warm so I hammered where I could. I noticed I hit approx. 120k's in the sweeper section - roughly 7-10's less than the Corolla which suprised me as the car doesn't have much in terms of handling. Only managed 1 good lap and that again was a new PB, I was absolutely stunned to say the least! Session 5 1:59.2930 1:48.5670 1:49.5200 2:28.0800 Missed the first two laps as I was caught up but still went out anyway. Tried piecing together another PB but could not substantiate. In one of the last few laps, I lost control at the notorious 'S Bend'. The car kicked out, countered, swung the other way, countered again, swung.. again then managed to correct her from going into the concrete barrier. My friend previously destroyed his 180sx there. Perhaps one of the best mods. No lie; if I nail the pedal hard enough I actually slide forwards and out of my seat hahah! Oh yeh, here's a video of me going 1.49.0720 Bed time yo!
  18. Thanks! The Chasers' stock are 2 pots at the front
  19. Had some free time so got onto the brakes The rotors turned out to be slightly problematic. I had previously requested Supra RZ rotors but the (eBay) supplier sold me standard JZX100 Chaser one's after asking me what car I had. Luckily, he wasn't interstate nor was he local (1hr+ drive away) but he came through with the goods and promptly delivered them at 11pm. They're RDA slotted rotors; because of this I'm not too fussed about eating through rotors as the DBA equivalents would be double or so Next day @ 'Simo Garage' - one of the Chaser guys' has a workshop that is used as a meet-up place for all things talking/modding/DIY-ing. Naturally, I ventured there and together with a few guys got into taking out the standard Chaser gear. Admittedly, the standard brakes are surprisingly very good for such a large car. I've never had an issue with ABS and hauling up the 1.5 tonne land barge so it's a credit to Toyota for putting some R&D into it. Chasers' 290mm discs Vs Supra's 323mm Caliper with Chaser offset nuts fitted, along with the pads, fitting kit and shims. The face was masked off to prevent damage/scratches during the fitting process And completed. The front wheels decided not to clear by about 2mm so that was annoying to say the least. 5mm spacers went on and so far so good: I'm not a big fan of wheel spacers altogether so these will have to do for now, until I get longer wheel studs or new wheels. Whichever comes first! As for the brakes, DAMMMMN! By the time we had finished up, it had started to rain so I was taking it easy around the block and even on partial firmness on the pedal, the Chaser pulls up effortlessly. Currently have Genuine OEM Supra pads fitted and have flushed the system out with Penrite SIN fluid and it seems to work well but I'll just have to wait and see how we go come Sunday at Winton. Tomorrow, the car goes in for its 100k major service next door to my work place. Sweeeeettt
  20. Calipers? Nah these are just fake caliper covers Johnnie :D
  21. Thanks guys! I've painted alot of things before so I cheated a little haha I might just try out the OEM Supra pads with uprated fluid/rotors. Looking at going with either Motul RBF600 or Penrite SIN fluid with RDA rotors.
