  1. Yay! The meet is getting so close that I just can't wait for it. I wish it would hurry up and be Friday already I've even prepared myself to the point that I spent a good deal of time cleaning the inside of the car today and put newspaper over the floor to keep it clean. I even put tape over my window switches to remind me not to put them down (to reduce dust entering the car) since I always drive with my front windows down.
  2. Someone will have to confirm this, but for most gauges like this, you just pull it up carefully keeping it straight. I'm not sure how your one is set up, but did you try removing the PCB from the back of the switch assembly? You shouldn't have to remove the button.
  3. Yep, sounds like you are getting the issue that a large percentage of Aurion owners are getting. Just look through boxerboy's link above. Your dealer will most likely be saying everything is fine in the hopes that you don't pursue it further to save them doing a warranty job. My TRD is now starting to do the same. I'm going to wait till I get back from Sydney so that the noise will hopefully worsen and be much more noticeable (easier to prove it to the dealer then) so I can then get the shaft replaced under warranty.
  4. Spotted driving out of Sinnamon Park towards Mt. Ommaney at around 1:08pm today: A white pre-facelift Sportivo Aurion. Was a good deal ahead of me, but I could easily see it was rolling on 18's. The wheels on the move had that distinct look of Kappa's when rolling. Was this you Ash (arc)?
  5. No need to buy one new. As said above, you can pick up a 2nd hand one in good condition for much less than that. Just like BMW said:
  6. Time for another stupid question from me. Now the following has occurred before I put in a oiled filter, so I doubt this would be the cause. When I take my intake hose connected to my throttle body, I have found a small pool of oil gathered on the external side of the throttle body plate. This is definitely coming from the internal side of the throttle body since when you inspect it immediately after driving, you won't see anything there. After about 20 minutes or so, you can then see some oil pooling as per the image below. Leaving it overnight usually results in up at about twice the amount of oil gathering there, but never any more. My question is, this would be blow-by right? And if so, how serious of an issue is this? Usually if left for a week or two, it gets a little bit dirtier in there. BTW, it's only nice and shiny because I wiped it down before going for a drive. My old Aurion never produced this much. And if it isn't blow-by... what else could it be. A supercharger leak or something?
  7. Screw you and your aftermarket support Man I envy your TRD. It just seems to be getting better and better.
  8. Those look to me like just an aftermarket OEM substitute, much like how you can buy a Ryco air filter for your car instead of Toyota Genuine. Basically, you wouldn't be expecting any gain by changing them over your stock ones.
  9. Performed my 30,000km service as per the log book, changing over the factory dino oil for some fully synthetic Fuchs oil. Due to the low k's on this car before I bought it, the services were performed by time, not distance. Thus, the last service was the 37,500km (30 month) service and the next dealer service is the 45,000km (36 month) service. Since it has now reached 30,000km, it just feels wrong waiting for the next service in a couple of months time, so I performed every required of the 30,000km service to keep myself happy. Also did the Toyota A/C cleaning and anti-bacterial treatment (holding my breath real good), and took some time to fix up my lower mesh which was starting to come a little loose.
  10. That's some pretty mad power for a small car. Would be interested to see how this goes against a certain Slowtivo.
  11. Anything is possible... it just depends on how much money you have to spend. Personally, don't waste your money trying to put a the TRD Aurion supercharger onto a non-TRD. You would be better off just buying the TRD instead. Otherwise, use your money on a turbo setup. You will be looking at at least $11,000 to get all the engine parts from Toyota to supercharge your 2GR in the same way as the TRD. The supercharger (minus the intake manifold) and the ECU together will set you back approximately $9,000.
  12. Credit goes to Michael (51DER) on the boards here for taking those photos. In it's basic form, it's just light painting with an open shutter. I think the combination of the LED light he uses as well as his camera settings, together with his personal touch is how they end up that way. I wish I could take photos like that.
  13. Thanks mate. It probably could have done with some more air at the time, but it should all be sorted now. Plus I think part of that look was caused by the camber the Aurion gets when the wheels are turned. You seem to get more of it on the Aurion compared with other cars.
  14. Personally, I usually go even pressures all-round for most day to day driving. If anything, I have higher pressures in the rear than the front. For day to day driving, I always check my tire pressure when warm (after driving for 15-30 minutes or so) and get them all even. Also, pick up a good digital tire pressure gauge. Don't trust the ones at the servo. I always inflate to a couple of PSI higher than I want then use my digital gauge to adjust it till it's right. I piked up a Sidchrome one from Autobarn for just under $30.
  15. I think you are onto something Actually, I was considering (prior to this) putting the tow hook in and utilising that to make a camera mount (like this or this). Then I scrapped the idea since it would detract from the look of the car. Well I guess now it would probably be the better option.
  16. I know. If there was a way to guarantee that AAMi could repair it by Thursday, I'd be dropping it off tomorrow. But they said that once I drop it off, I won't be getting it back till the repair is complete. This is why I said I'll take it in on the 15th. I will just have to do what I can to make it look good for the meet. I managed to run back onto the road and recover the plastic plate that covers it. It had a busted clip which I am now waiting for the plastic weld to set, and it's a little scratched which I will touch up. So at least for the meet I can get it looking better, but it's just not the same as having no damage at all. That was some seriously bad timing. I was only on my way to get some oil for my car so I can do the oil change. Damn I wish I had gotten it earlier.
  17. FML! The meet is just a stones throw away and I just happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time: Let's say I did choose a on-the-sport repairer, does that look possible to fix (at least fill the crack and paint), and if so, what would you estimate the cost to be?
  18. Oh damn. Long story short, some guy in a van decides to reverse back to overtake the bus he was stuck behind (dropping off/picking up passengers), I was unfortunately right behind him and he failed to see me. His tow bar/ball went right into my bumper. The time it took for me to react, the car didn't engage into reverse quick enough. At least it was lucky that I was in neutral at the time of impact with my foot off the brakes. I guess the damage isn't much, but damage is damage. Plus sorting it out is going to be an epic pain in the a**. If I pursue it with insurance, I will be dropping it off for assessment and repair on the 15th of June (could have dropped it off earlier, but the meet is awfully close), and I can end up without it for a week. Alternatively, I could seek one of those bumper repair guys that come to you and fix it up in a few hours. This would result in minimal downtime, but will end up in me paying for it.
  19. Oh, that's cool then. Should come out to one of our meets in future: Brisbane Meetup (Every Thursday 8pm) I thought you were closer to the tropics from the bit of background I could see.
  20. What.... the...... f*ck.
  21. Welcome mate. I'm taking a guess here, but would you be located more northern QLD? Nice clean Camry as well. Got any plans for the near future apart from the wheels?
  22. Well if you would rather post there because you get more people interested, then you should consider updating it then: http://www.boostcruising.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=544476 Looks to have about the same amount of interest over there as it does here. Sounding a bit fired up for someone who said "none taken" in response to "no offense". And I agree with what everyone has said above about the purpose of posting your car up on here. It's there like a diary for others to read up on. I never did much to my car that was out of the ordinary, but the process of doing it all myself as well as the lame a** stories I had to go with them seemed to get people to read more about it. It was never about how good the car is, but rather the story about it.
  23. I'm a nay on that one. I reckon it will remove the separation that the black of the fog light surround creates. But if you have a second set, I guess there is no harm in trying.
  24. I'm not saying anything bad about our place. I reckon it looks quite good. Damn this thing is getting close. This time next week we will be on the road half way there.
  25. Mick has come to save the day. Just the statement of yours was enough to get me to crack out in laughter.
