  1. +1. This guy sounds confident though about making such a change considering he was thinking about 'sport spark plugs', so I figured I may as well see what it is first that he is considering. Hopefully something not cheaply made at least. I'd never consider one for the reason stated above. For me, an engine is too expensive to risk damaging.
  2. The iGO8 update that I have provided has had it's 'sys.txt' file in the root directory is configured for the Auspack units. You need to find what your head unit refers to the SD card as. For example, the Auspack unit refers to the SD card as "StorageCard". As a result, the sys.txt file contains the following line: [folders] app="StorageCard/iGO8" Chances are your head unit does not refer to it the same. If so, you need to change "StorageCard" to whatever it uses.
  3. I will tell you what I think about it when you can tell me more about it.
  4. Actually, I think it's a Verada. :P Close...
  5. LOL. Those are so funny you have to think twice whether it's true or not.
  6. Far out mate. You take things way too seriously.... you're the one who's sad. I would have easily taken cuppas post as a joke. It's a Magna for crying out loud. Even that isn't great. And on a side note... I see any neons on cars as rice. Sure I had it on my first car, but I was a stupid teen and got caught in the ricer phase.
  7. After not being with her for 15 days, I got to see her again. I lifted her bonnet to check out her covered bits, made sure she had enough lubrication, and then took her for a gentle drive to warm up. Once her heart was beating with good rhythm, I put my foot down and listened to her scream as she hit her peak... numerous times. Boy did I miss her.
  8. As it stands, there is currently no manufacturer (advertising) a light weight/underdrive crankshaft pulley for the 2GR-FE. You could try looking into custom made if you have the money. As for the spark plugs, you would already be getting the best performance with the iridium spark plugs already in there. You can't expect any gains from changing those.

Wouldn't that blue reinforced silicone hose cost cheaper than that Yeah, Toyota really have some strange pricing.
  10. My response to everyone here saying that they have a darker than legal tint and have no issues with police, insurance etc, is: Good for you. I'm not against your own decisions for a darker than legal tint, but just because you are having no problems now, it doesn't mean that anyone else considering it should be fine as well. It's like saying that you speed all the time and have no issues with tickets. This just makes it seem that it's fine to do. So anyone thinking about it, you are taking your own risk.
  11. The steering wheel HAS to come off. Toyota were not thinking differently to anybody else. It's not a special case. Because of the way the indicator works, the stalk has a round part that goes around the steering column that enables the indicator to automatically turn off when you complete your turn.
  12. Oh the memories. I still do miss my first car. Big story follows: It was a 1991 Toyota Camry Executive.... and SV21. His name was 'Lucky'. This car had been in the family since around mid 1992 (ex-government car) and was pretty much my Mum's car for most of it's life because Dad worked overseas and was never really around to drive it. Because of this, it was an automatic. I had started driving it on my learners every weekday to get to school, and then Mum would take over and drive it from school to work. That's how I ended up getting lots of practice... and also the habit of tailgating thanks to traffic all the time. In the day's I didn't drive it, my Dad's car rental company had an old 1986 Suzuki Swift for run-around jobs and he made me practice my manual skills in that. He said, drive this and you can drive any modern manual car. Then around the same time I got my provisionals, Mum said I can take it whenever she didn't need it. I always seemed to go out driving a fair bit during my final year of school. One particular memory was going out late at night with my friends, loaded up with a few cartons of eggs and egging people. People in bus shelters were fun targets. Oh the recklessness. Eventually once I finished school, Mum got a job in the CBD and lost the need for the car. As of then, it was handed down to me. It was still running strong and was a great first car. When I got it, it already had a Sony MiniDisc head unit and JBL speakers in the rear (thanks to Dad) so after a bit of time I got myself a cheap a** Clarion sub and amp package from Autobarn. Then for Christmas, my Mum and sister got me a voucher to get a 3M black tint (35%). It really changed the look of the car. I loved it. Then the Fast and the Furious hit the cinemas. Crazy teen stuff followed. I got a sports exhaust, and neons FTW. Such useless crap, but I was young. Then I remembered reading up about HID's and just couldn't resist. I found a set on eBay selling for $350 (that's what these cheap Asian sets cost back when they came out) and fitted them. Boy they looked great. Then when it came time for new tires, the guy at Bob Jane said for $300 I could buy a set of 15" Subaru rims with some decent tread left on some Yokahama's. I couldn't say no. After a while, my portable MiniDisc recorder f*** up so I couldn't recored new music. I then splurged out $700 on kick-a** Pioneer Bluetooth head unit (now similar spec head units cost half the price... stuff cost a bit back then). Now I could use MP3 CD-RW with ease and the Bluetooth handsfree was wicked. Oh, I then read up about what a 'boss kit' is and got myself a mice comfy aftermarket steering wheel. Now I could cruise around with something nice to hold onto. Then came the remote start. I was really into electronics so thought I would give this a shot. Worked well and helped warm the car up in the early hours of the morning before the gym and after nightfill at Woolworths. Eventually I tied it into a RFID push button start and now I had a custom keyless ignition. Happy Days. Then I found out I could get a MAF adaptor for the vane-type MAF sensor so I went ahead and bought one together with a pod filter. My Camry was feeling pretty nice by about then. And that's pretty much a summarised story of my first car. It was fun while it lasted and was nice to give it a thrashing and I kind of wish I still had it. And the photos. I never really took photos of it (esp. the intake, with the new wheels, stereo, keyless ignition, etc) which I kind of regret: Before I started mucking around with it: Doof doof: Neons FTW: HID's... mmmm, glaring: Go the Camry: And then it was his last days:
  13. http://cgi.ebay.com.au/Aurion-KLM-Sports-S...id=p3286.c0.m14 http://cgi.ebay.com.au/AURION-CAMRY-2006-T...id=p3286.c0.m14 Not something I would consider though. Just felt like posting it. I've got other plans in the works. Having it ready for the track though all comes down to how fast Toyota can get them and how much time I get when I'm back in Brissy.
  14. +1. I agree to those opinions you have brought forward. Sure lowering on standard shocks will work and for some, last a while, but it's not what I would call optimal. Then again, those that you see lowering their car don't really care for performance anymore. Everyone seems to be going for looks these days.
  15. You down here mate? Coming to the clubeet this weekend? Would be great to meet you Yeah, I'm down here for work though. Tight time-frame to work in so no time to have any fun. Just noticed that Sportivo on my drive into our Sydney office. I'm heading back home on Saturday night. Sucks that I'm here... but not here. I was in Lorne the other week on the same weekend the Victoria guys organised a meetup and photoshoot. I hate how I miss out on things like that. So close, yet so far.
  16. You are correct in that the Adrenalin seems a bit wider than the tires you had before. That was one of the first things I noticed when I got home: I found the Adrenalin more quiet than the Michelin Energy MXV8 which was already quiet as it is. Wet weather performance comes down to how the channels in the tread are made. Parts of the Adrenalin tires are semi-slick which don't help so well with expelling water. They do help with dry grip though. Very confident for the price you can pick them up for.
  17. I have heard stories where people that have gotten particular Dunlop tires with their new car only to have them last around 15,000km before reaching the treadwear indicators. There was a case where car manufactures were packaging new cars with these tires that wear out abnormally quick. Not always... if the above case I mentioned above is true. Life span of tires also comes down the properties of the tires you get as well.

    JOKES !!!!

An elderly, white-haired man walked into a downtown jewellery store one Friday evening with a beautiful young blonde at his side. He told the jeweller he was looking for a special ring for his new girlfriend The jeweller looked through his stock and brought out a $5,000 ring. The old man said, "No, I'd like to see something more special." At that statement, the jeweller went to his special stock and brought another ring over. "Here's a stunning ring at only $40,000," he said. The young lady's eyes sparkled and her whole body trembled with excitement. The old man seeing this said, "We'll take it." The jeweller asked how payment would be made and the old man stated, "By cheque. I know you need to make sure my cheque clears so I'll write it now, and you can call the bank on Monday morning to verify the funds and I'll pick the ring up on Monday afternoon," he said. On Monday morning, the jeweller 'phoned the old man and said "Sir, I'm afraid there's no money in that account." "I know," said the old man, "but let me tell you about my weekend!"

    JOKES !!!!

A husband says to his wife, "what would you do if I won the lottery?" She says, "I'd take half then leave you." "Excellent," he replies, "I won 12 bucks, here's $6. Now F**k off!"
  20. I highly recommend the Potenza if you are the person that likes to give your car a bit of a hard push now and again. The amount of grip it provides is quite good given the affordability of the tire. As you remembered though, I did say they don't grip so well in the wet as they wear down. In my opinion, they don't grip so great in the wet when fresh either, but this is in comparison to an all season tire. It is one of the trade-offs of having a good performance tire.
  21. Most cars will do this with halogen bulbs as well. Do you pay attention to everything else in thhe car that is powered? Notice the dash turns off, as does the stereo and fan. This is because the starter motor draws quite a bit of current and as a result, everything else tied to the battery doesn't get priority.
  22. Not really advisable unless you change the wiring to the headlights. Higher wattage globes will put a higher load on the stock wiring which can possibly lead to burnt out wiring over time. As well, they will produce extra heat which can also discolour the reflective material within the headlight. You can get away with it for a while, but wrecking the headlights is not something I would want to do. Just to note as well, putting in higher wattage low beams will be just as defectable as HID's.
  23. Anyone here own a blue Camry Sportivo with the plates 'SPV 51X'? If so, I spotted your Camry here in Terrigal.
  24. He/I did say slip when cold. Once warm, his setup just doesn't want to give way and let it slip and trust me, he does push really hard. You got your work cut out all right. You'll just be eating all the reject meals that Gav leaves behind because he will be too busy overtaking them instead. Above statement was just joking around... don't take it seriously okay. That said, I would still put my money on Gav
  25. It only says that it is a Toyota Corolla.. unless hmmm its u! xD Hmmmm....
