  1. As of that post, you have made 'post 666'. Ooooh, evil intentions. LOL. That's enough mucking around. Anyways, I agree with what you're saying. You can say what you want as this is a public forum, and it is all personal opinions. Sometimes people do take things a little too seriously and just need to remember that a lot of the time this is just a public discussion where not everyone thinks alike.
  2. I believe he's got the Diamond Vision (correct me if I'm wrong). The Philips range of blue tinted bulbs go Blue Vision, Crystal Vision, and Diamond Vision. Each step has slightly more blue in them, but also getting less bright.
  3. Welcome... and hopefully we will see you at one of our (mostly) weekly meets. It's good to see the Brisbane Aurion population on the forums here is increasing. Seems like it's the place to be
  4. Oh god! Take that red tape off immediately.
  5. ill take one next time im at the car. Quickly run out to the car now, and take them, then quickly run back, upload and show us :P That's what I would do. Nobody likes to wait :P

Sorry... just had to do it.
  7. hey guys, for your info, its boostcruising meet-up, i for one tried it, but its just no good :( besides, TOCAU is wayyyyy better then boostlosing :P Hence my under enthusiastic response. No Boost even seems welcoming enough for me to enjoy being around.
  8. I guess I'd be up for it.
  9. I would like to drop mine like yours Rowan, but see here's the thing. You get occasional scrubbing on your rears correct? And you have an overall wheel/tire diameter than stock. I wonder what the result is going to be with my stock rims and tires. I'm constantly going back and forward in my head about lowering mine. I think I will wait till after I fit my strut bar and rear sway bar, before I make any final decisions.
  10. If you're painting just the plastic engine cover, this is not necessary. Any automotive grade paint will do. The plastic on the engine cover does not heat up to extreme temperatures. If you want one brand new, you would have to look into getting it direct from a Toyota dealer. Otherwise for second hand ones, wreckers maybe.
  11. I've attempted that on some old tires. You're out of luck if you want to do this on the Aurion. Wheel hops like crazy. Though this may have simply come down to the Sportivo suspension. Maybe the AT-X will be more forgiving if he was to do this.
  12. Okay guys, being such the nice person that I am, here is the next update for anyone using the Auspacks unit. I have taken the time (a good 3 hours of downloading and configuring) to obtain a copy of the latest version of iGO8 (version 8.3.2.80621, March 10, 2009). You just need to download the ZIP file in the link below and extract it's contents into the root of your SD card (ie. place the iGO8 folder from inside the ZIP into your SD card). The program is fully configured and ready to run; you can just customise it as per your needs. This version will run on Auspack units running WinCE 4.2 (like mine), and WinCE 5.0 (the newer ones). I have even been nice enough to change the splash screen to the one created by 'bok' and I have even thrown in a few nice background images, though I'm sure you will probably leave it on the picture of the TRD engine bay (which I have set as the default). Within this software, you will also find the latest Australian Navteq maps version 2008.Q3 (there are no known Sensis R15 maps that work with this version of iGO8), and UK and US English voices (the program is already set to run on UK English - Kate... because I think it sounds better). This version of iGO8 also has the ability to run Text-to-Speech, but I tried again and again to get it to work, but couldn't. Since I don't use the voice guidance anyways, I just gave up on it, and if you wish to get it working, that is your own task. I think this has to do with the fact that mine is running WinCE 4.2, so if you're running the later version, you may be able to get it running easier. You'll need to find the files yourself though. So far from what I've seen with this version is that the mapping is more clearer than the previous version running Sensis R14 maps. It definitely feels different, but better than the Sensis maps in my opinion. This version also has 3D buildings here and there, but they aren't that fancy. One nice feature it has is lane assistance when on the highways. When you are approaching exits on the highway, it displays signs overhead that look like the large overhead signs on the road. It's useful so that you know which lane you need to be in. Apart from that, there is not too much that is new with this unit, except that the maps are more recent and updated. I'd say it would be worth the upgrade if you are using a previous version of iGO8 since you can download this with the following link for free. Anyways, ENJOY. http://www.filefactory.com/file/agc27ha/n/Auspacks_zip Also, if you put this on your unit and find that it does not find any satellites, proceed with the following: Go into your menu -> go right a page -> select 'GPS' -> remove the checkbox in 'GPS Enabled' -> then select 'Auto-detect' Edit: File above has been edited to include new POI's as per my post below.
  13. In the Aurion you have ABS, Traction Control, and Vehicle Stability Control. When you go through the deactivation sequence in the Aurion, you end up turning all three of them off. For the purposes of the pros and cons, I will be referring mainly to VSC as that is what most people here refer to when they say Traction Control. Pros of turning it off - For daily driving, there aren't really any pros for turning it off. In most day to day conditions, you won't ever need TC and VSC to do it's job and therefore you won't notice anything. If you are pushing your car however and intend on having it slip a little (ie. on the track), or if you are trying to move on wet grass or gravel, turning it off will let you get a bit more control out of your car since its on-board ECU isn't intervening. Really, there aren't many more advantages for turning it off unless you plan to take it to the track or something. Cons of turning it off - For day to day driving, turning it off would mean that should you encounter a slippery surface or obstacle that you need to avoid, it will be completely up to you to overcome it. If the car slips out, you will need to make all the adjustments yourself. Basically, it's just taking away from the safety of your car. Now in basic English, those three features mentioned above are safety aides that helps keep you car on the road where it should be. It's not something to replace good driving skills, but sometimes there are road hazards that one can not overcome these will help you out, but not completely. The following definitions are from Toyota and describe what I can not: As well, this video explains how VSC works: Please wait a few seconds for Video to Load! And here is another video to give an example of all three: Please wait a few seconds for Video to Load!In that second video there, you can see at the 4:50 mark how the stability control does it's thing to the front wheel in slow motion.
  14. I HIGHLY doubt you can put it in without cutting your bumper at the least. Mine was only just able to fit and that's with a single 4 inch tip. The dual tip version is dual 3 inch tips. I don't know as I haven't compared the two in person, but I would say that the round version would be slightly louder than the oval version because there may be less baffling in it's design. As well, the round ones are too much rice in my opinion. There is no switch. The Varex are completely remote controlled. I only just noticed this after i answered the question. Oh wells.
  15. In addition to the cost saving though, a dyno day would probably be more worth it because that way you have other like cars that you can compare against as every dyno varies and so do the surrounding conditions. I will probably wait till we have an organised dyno day.
  16. Welcome to the club. The Aurion sure is a nice car, but what made you choose this when you have an Audi A4?
  17. Tough decisions. Hehehe, the Air Force coilovers would have been different but realistically, I'm not one that would go with coilovers on a street car. I was also considering Lovells as I've heard that they make suitable springs. I'm not after that slammed look, but a drop that is noticeable and so that gap in the wheel arch is not so visible. Pedders seems like the go at the moment, mainly because as good as Rowan's looks, the drop at the rear is a little too much for me to handle.
  18. Oh no... I've got a serious problem here. Thanks primarily to Rowan, I don't think I can hold back any longer and I think it's time to lower my Aurion. I guess it will just be dropped on the stockies, but at least it will be lower. Now the tough part. Back to the good old Pedders Vs. Kings discussion. I like how Rowan's Kings sit nice an low at the rear, but to me that also means more chances of scraping. Michael's Pedders on the other hand have that little bit of extra clearance at the rear which would help, but also means that it is not a perfectly even drop. Hmmmm. What to do?
  19. No one said anything about street racing. When Rowan said 'traffic' he was referring to the other cars on the track making it hard to sprint down the straight
  20. My personal opinion is that when it comes to accents on a red car, black goes better than chrome/silver. You have to be pretty careful where you put chrome/silver if you were to go that way, because if you don't get it right, it will look like rice. You should post pictures of your car as it is now so better judgement can be made. Don't even consider silver for the wipers though. That won't look as good as it sounds. You should stick with black, though dark red may work, but also break up the contrast between them and the car. Definitely black for the grill... not that I'm biased or anything. But then if you go this route, you are going to need some more black accents to complement you car. So then we now get to the black rims. Though, because you will obviously have your tires which are black, you can go silver for your rims to give it a little more contrast. Don't go full chrome though as those can look pretty bad if not done correctly. Red and black FTW.
  21. If your interior lights already do this, you can make additional lighting like the footwell lighting behave the same when it goes on and off with the door switch. If your interior lights don't already do this, they have kits out there to add this functionality. LED's and fluoro's won't fade out anywhere near like how normal bulbs will. LED's fade out pretty well these days. Though mine has the slightest amount of flicker due to the fact we aren't dealing with high frequency components here. Most people though would hardly tell the difference I reckon. Neons and cold cathodes are well out of the question though. Put them on a dimmer and you can say goodbye to them not far down the track.
  22. That's news to me. I knew such a thing could happen, but I didn't think Toyota did that. So lets just hope then that nothing breaks (that could be considered a warranty job) while travelling at high speeds and while driving hard, etc. I think I remember that device being mentioned on one of the other sections here as well. It had to have been because I had a look at the site afterwards. They are useful as well if you want to see what your driving style is like for economy purposes, or if you want some logging for track use. Anyways, when travelling and don't want your car taken, I saw a tip from a someone over in the States. Raise you car onto jack stands and remove then chain up the wheels.
  23. The seller there on Amazon 'Blinglights' used to sell those fog lights on eBay. They have a blue LED in them as well which you can turn on to instantly make your car a cop magnet. From the looks of the bracket they provide with it, it looks like you would need to figure out how to mount it yourself inside the bumper as the factory mounting moulds are a bit different to how that bracket sits. Then again, that could just be a general photo (as those brackets look universal) and when you get the kit, it will have the proper hardware.

  25. It's on like Donkey Kong. Though we all know my car is no race machine. Now you've done it. I am in the mood to modify now. Not much I can do though. First things first, I've ordered myself that strut bar I've been meaning to get. Once the K-Rudd payment goes through, I've seriously got the itch to lower it. I just need some time to get over it again.
