  1. It can sometimes be hard to tell whether a HID lamp is blown or not. They aren't like traditional bulbs where you can see a filament in them. In a HID lamp, there are just two electrodes on either side of the gas envelope on the inside and nothing joining the two. Usually the signs of a lamp that is nearing or at the end of its life is excess carbon deposits at one of the electrodes. This will be visible on the glass as it is black. Don't confuse it for the salt deposits which on cheaper HID kits (including this one) will look a white or greyish colour (can be blood red in colour on some of the really high end HID lamps). But yeah, following the advise from J e r e M y will help rule out one or the other.
  2. Damn Ash. Those are some nice photos. Really shows off the smooth styling of your Aurion. I like the last one (739) as well as it gives your car a more sleek look. Not bad for a 3 year old Pentax. I wish I could take photos like that.
  3. Um... MartysAurion... what were you trying to say in your last post? I'm not quite understanding it's purpose. The Australian Aurion, the Asian Aurion, the US V6 Camry all have the same 2GR-FE engine. The TRD Aurion still has a 2GR-FE in it, which would mean that it has the same engine, bar the supercharger and fuel injectors. I thought that this was already known.
  4. My job includes accommodation for a situation like that. Even though I live in Brisbane, it's easier to just have me sleep in one of the rooms there. Hehehe. Easy as. Only need to drive back to Brisbane a couple of times for when work needs to be sorted out at the Hilton over that time.
  5. I was trying to think for a moment why I would have been driving down Adelaide Street since at the moment I'm working at the Hilton so when I leave, I only would travel down Elizabeth, Creek, and Ann Streets. I remember now, I would have looped though Adelaide Street about 5:10pm or so because my sister finished work at 5:15pm and the traffic on Ann wasn't enough for me to waste 5-10 minutes down there. The traffic around there can be unpredictable a lot of the time. Hehehe. I would offer, but my work at the Hilton is just about done. Only have like a few more days there over the next few weeks. I've now got to do work at Mantra Crown Towers at Surfers Paradise for the next couple of weeks.
  6. Spotted a Aurion Sportivo SX6 in Wildfire cruising down the Centenary Highway. If you are on this forum sorry, but sometimes there are just places where you shouldn't overdo the chrome. There were chrome strips on the section above the number plate, in the black space between the exhaust outlets, on the wheel arches, on the tail lights, on the door bumper strips, some other in-appropriate places, and you had 17 inch chrome rims. It looked cheap and tacky... not luxury or stylish.
  7. That new tail light design looks disgusting.
  8. I'm liking that front end there TRDLover. It appears it lets you have whatever grill you want in the upper section vs the actual TRD front bumper. As well, it seems like there is not as much of a curve with the lower lip. The large curve on the TRD is one of the things I'm not too fond of. Good work with your little conversion there.
  9. Hey Drew. All we need on an intake is the standard Denso MAF sensor (shown below) mount, a nipple for a small vacuum line, and a larger port to handle the crank-case ventilation plumb-back.
  10. In this situation, I don't think that statement applies. You would only gain so few kW or so that $1600 would not justify itself. That's insane how one can charge so much for that.
  11. Ahhhh. I am sitting back and laughing at you guys suffering in the heat. For once Queensland isn't taking a hit with the hot weather.
  12. Stock exhaust with a 2.5 inch QTP Electric Cutout after the resonator: Please wait a few seconds for Video to Load! Please wait a few seconds for Video to Load! Please wait a few seconds for Video to Load! And don't forget Darius that started the Varex setup on the Aurion. I don't see him around too often so I will post for him: Please wait a few seconds for Video to Load!
  13. It certainly was. Not sure if Matt came out 100% satisfied though. Now he has a minor problem to solve.
  14. My car has been through quite a lot of rain both here in Brisbane and up north it Cairns and shows no sign of rust in those places you have specified. Upload a couple of photos so we can see whether it is something that is okay, or something that you should get treated as soon as possible.
  15. Well as per previous discussion, I will be out tonight. Just starting a post for this week.
  16. I would say at least double that. I'm gonna be driving this car for a while I reckon, so I guess time will tell. I thought I drive a lot. I've been driving mine for just under 10 months and have clocked up 25,000km.
  17. I would pass on it. At the least, not for that price. I would just buy 2 x 275mL bottles of Fuel Doctor, do the initial shock treatment (add the full bottle to your petrol tank), then at every petrol fill afterwards, use 25mL. One bottle of Fuel Doctor will cost you about $15. Fuel Doctor works towards cleaning out your tank and injectors, and the maintenance treatments every fill help keep everything clean and prevent it from getting dirty.
  18. BONDIE - I swear I remember you saying some time ago that you found yourself a personalised plate combination. Have you got that already and those are older photos, or did you put the plate idea on hold? Nice custom job on the lower grill there as well. Plus, if it weren't for you buying that, I probably wouldn't have gotten myself a mesh grill yet.
  19. You need to replace it. The material it is made from holds whatever tries to pass through it. It gets pretty dirty sometimes. To remove it you release the little 'air piston' thing on the left hand side of the glove box (photos 3 and 4), then just pull the glove box hard in the same arc direction that it opens in (photo 5). You can then see the pollen filter on the upper right hand side (photo 6 and 7). This is best described with photos, but I need to head to work now. Will upload a couple later. Edit: For the best step by step, look at the owners manual, page 165 and 166 (which I have dodgilly copied below), otherwise, here is a general photo guide which I'm not so good at. Ew, I think I need a new filter.
  20. I kinda wish the TRD rims were like the prototype they had before (shown below). Those would look okay in my opinion; and is that some minor dish on them as well? So now all this 20 inch fun, looks like I should join in with some nice deep dish. Hmmmm, the temptation. I think a set of AirRunner suspension would suit best.
  21. There goes my dinner.
  22. I bought mine directly from the only personalised plate issuer in Queensland; PPQ. The prestige plates cost that much (they used to be $1695 a few years back). In Queensland, it is a once-off fee with no annual fees. The prestige plates are the one that allows you up to 6 alpha-numeric characters in any order you want. Otherwise, you can get plates starting from $415 by choosing a three letter/two number combination.
  23. with how much percentage cocoa? It appears to be around 80%. Seriously, with the cost of their personalised plates ($475 for up to 9 characters, which I think MAY be a once off only fee) you would think it was made from chocolate. But yeah, it all comes down to whether or not you're willing to pay to be different. I personally think that my $2295 plate was crazy, but there was no other way I could get it. This is why when I see someone with a plate like 'SMILE5', I laugh because they spent so much money on a knock-off because someone else out there has 'SMILES'. It's just not worth wasting money like that.
  24. Sorry Ash for that little bit of thread jacking that went on there. Look forward to seeing you at the meet. It is always so hard now standing by watching everyone progress further. I hate falling into the shadows. <Kicks self for not bidding on the TRD rims that sold for $800>
  25. It's not called double standards mate. There is a difference between asking repeat questions, and posting photos to show off your ride in a similar fashion to the 'Members Rides' section. This thread falls along the lines of the latter. It is a different type of thread. If I had a problem with this thread, I would need to have a problem with every other thread in the 'Members Rides' section.
