I have heard that the Aurion is electronically limited around 240-250km/h. v8toy's experience shows that he was able to go to around 240km/h. Personally I have gone up to 220km/h (on track of course ) and it felt like it still had some more go in it. As for disabling it, you would need to do it at the ECU level. For some reason I don't see that ever happening. By the way, if you ever manage to find someone who can crack the ECU, let us know. I've got a heap of things I want adjusted... starting with the 'sports mode'.

For the Gen 6 Camry, you can disable the seat belt warning as follows: Now I've tried this on my Aurion with no luck. Maybe your results may differ. If you really wanted to be creative, you could just place a tiny high powered magnet on the underside of the seat belt buckle. That should yield the same results. Personally, I don't mind the seat belt reminder. Simple solution is to put your seat belt on. I also like the style of beep that it has. Seems classy; lol. Better than the warning on my sister's Mazda as well.

Well I didn't quite do my interior. After stripping the car apart, I lined all the area under the carpet and rear parcel shelf with this stuff from Jaycar: Improved Heavy Duty Sound Barrier Absorbing / Damping Material I never really drove my car before applying it (car was unregistered before hand), so I can't tell if it made any slight difference. As well, all the underfelt on my carpet was replaced as well with a more heavier duty underfelt (hospitality grade; thank you Stamford Plaza) so that would contribute a little more. In my opinion, it didn't do much at all, but its also hard to tell because I have nothing to compare to. In the end though, I wasn't aiming to sound deaden my car. I had my car in pieces and had some of that stuff laying around from my old attempt to silence my Camry interior (which I never got around to), so I thought I may as well use it. I guess you say I understand the cost in deadening in terms of pulling the car apart to work on such.

Selling TRD Aurion for only $35,000
DJKOR replied to rhapsody647's topic in Aurion / TRD Aurion Club
The TRD one was has been there for quite some time. I last saw it up on Gray's about a month ago. There is probably a reason why it isn't selling. I was going to check it out when I first saw it, but couldn't be bothered. -
Looking sweet. Can't wait to see that interior.

Funny you mention that. When I brought mine in, Toyota services the car and didn't restore my vacuum hoses back to normal. However TRD Aurion Owner brought his in and they put the hoses back the way they are meant to be and made a comment that they fixed it. I think they blamed the police for doing that since his car was an ex-cop car.

I've encountered a similar problem in the past. It's only happened twice when it was new and never happened since. I would get the white screen, but only on the NAVI page. If I went back to the stereo, it would display fine, but when I press NAVI, it would go to a white screen. It was kinda weird when it happened as well. The screen like washed away to white (in the way an etch-a-sketch clears). I think it was all related to the iGO8 when I was initially experimenting with it though. I found for that issue, pressing the reset button didn't help, and the only way to fix it was to cut power to the unit (by turning the car off) and then turning it back on again. With any issues though, the support that Rob gives is exceptional. He will take the time to contact the manufacturer to help find out what is wrong; hopefully saving you from doing a warranty return. I had a problem some time ago that he was able to solve for me.

I've seen photos of that elsewhere. It seems that the sliding door thing is only on one side of the car. I'm not a fan of it though. Eit: More photos here. 2007 SEMA Show: Toyota Camry VIP - with sliding doors If you look at the sills underneath the door area, the doors on the right side done seem to have the sliding rails.

The horn you are referring to would be the alarm horn. It is only part of the immobiliser/alarm system. You will still find two horns in front of your radiator.
-
Well a good starting point would be to remove the old horn. Most horns you buy should have a mounting bracket that allows you to bolt it on directly to where the old one was. With the stock horn, the wire that plugs into it applies positive power, and it grounds through the horn and mounting bolt. Everything else is pretty straight forward.

Wait... I know what it is! Ebay Fake Whistle Blow Off Valve!!!!! Damn. You guessed it. I've found a really good one; I swear. :P it reads "n droog" lol :) would never get andrew g from it :P id be like "whats an n droog" I saw it as Andrew G, but that's because I knew his name. But yeah Pumped, I can see exactly where you are coming from. Some plates are like that and need a little deciphering.

bit to many digits yea? Not for WA. They can have up to 9 characters... and for cheap. You'll find 'BLCKLABEL' around here as well. Nah mate. Not quite a DJ. I just love listening to music. It's just formed from my name. Check my profile for info. As for the mod, there will be no hints. Nothing to get excited about, quite simple and basic, and probably a bit of a let-down. Either way, I haven't seen one around and I like what it does... so I'm excited.

I've seen 'DJKOR' on an Aurion. That was a sweet looking ride. I saw it on the Aurion parked in my garage.
-
Looks like he has changed his horns. Definitely something that the Aurion is lacking on. If you see photos of mine, you'll see I've changed mine as well (it's a chrome one). Only one side is in at the moment though since the other mysteriously died.
-
:o ... a TRD badge on a non TRD Aurion. Not quite a fan of that. Nit picking asside; nice ride you have there. So judging by the fact you have you rims, exhaust and audio done already, have you got much on the todo list? And welcome to TOCAU as well.

I must say I agree with SQU-47N. If you have changed oil and filter before, the Aurion will be no problems. The service manual makes it seem more difficult than it is. There is only an extra step or two involved, and this is purely to make the filter change less messy. Though I wouldn't see it as this, one could say that the only disadvantage is that you will get your hands more dirty than normal.
-
Yup. This mesh grill seems to be gaining popularity. I wasn't a big fan of the large open space and lack of badging, but once I had de-badged my Aurion, I just knew my stock front grill had to go. I really can't wait to get it. Will definitely fit in with my minimal and sleek look that I am trying to achieve. It will also tie in with what I have planned for this Thursday (actually I plan for it to happen on Tuesday, but you won't know till Thursday... unless you see me on the road otherwise). Oh the wait is painful. I'm like a kid on Christmas eve.
-
I'm yet to change my own oil on mine, but I got underneath it earlier to have a feel around and reckon it's a piece of cake to change the oil and filter for this car. The service manual just makes it look more difficult than it is. Provided you have a suitable oil filter wrench (cap type prefered) you will have no issues. Much better than a car with a oil filter that is accessible only through the engine bay.
-
Thanks. Now I just need to wait for my grill and I will be the one step closer to a smooth and sleek ride. You can get oomph or other various goo-removers from your local supermarket or Big-W and the likes. Just look in the cleaning section. Big Kev's Goo Remover was the bomb when it was being sold. Oh wells, oomph is just as good.

I'm not sure where you heard about that, but the dash lights on the Aurion can be dimmed. It can either be set to be bright all the time regardless of your parkers/headlights, or set to full brightness and then dimmed when the parkers come on, or be set to a a variety of brightness levels and then go even dimmer when your parkers come on. I must say though, on quick glance, you wont find the brightness dial where you usually would on most cars. To adjust the brightness, you twist the stork coming out of the dash display, kinda like setting the in dash clocks on older cars (just without pulling on it). With mine, I keep it on maximum brightness just before the click where it locks onto maximum brightness all the time. The dash dims enough when the parkers are turned on that it is still bright in a way, but it doesn't obstruct my view. The dash on these cars is so wicked though. Usually when I take someone for a drive in it for the first time, it is the first thing they notice. Here is a quick video I took to demonstrate that it can be dimmed. It's a quick video and is just to show the dimming. Actual brightness in person is more dynamic. At the half way mark when the display 'bursts' to bright, that was the effect of turning the parking lights off then on again. That's an example of how mine is set. At the end, the 'burst' of light was clicking the brightness dial into full brightness mode. Please wait a few seconds for Video to Load! On a side note, while I have space in this thread to expand, anyone out there with the Aurion notice this next to your speedo: I just noticed it one day and guessed it was the model/version number of the dash unit. Out of curiosity, does anyone else have a different code? Completely irrelevant to anything; but that's me.

Brisbane Meetup (Every Thursday 9pm)
DJKOR replied to Danthuyer's topic in Previous/Past Club Meets & Events
I'll be there for sure. -
Y-tRy - The K&N SRI is quite expensive as it is. You can expect to pay around USD$300. Then add shipping onto that. For stuff like that, don't order through Repco or the likes. They always rip you off for that stuff. The panel filters can also be obtained online for much cheaper as well. If you were to get it from Repco or whatnot, expect to pay between $100-$150. If you get it online though, it can work out so much cheaper. In the long run, the K&N pays itself off over like 2 or 3 re-uses since the stock filters cost $43 direct from Toyota. The performance of oiled filters is questionable though. For me, I'd rather stick with the stock filter. At least I can be sure that it should never cause any problems. In my car being stock and N/A as it is, I'm sure the extra air flow from the K&N would be of no use. Pumped - Yeah, shipping is the real PITA when it comes to stuff from overseas. Though USD$46 is quite a bit high to ship a panel filter. I just purchased something from the States <un-named metal item for car> which is of a decent size and weight (shoebox size) and the shipping cost was USD$35 and that's with a guaranteed 5 day delivery (which includes weekends for transport... yay). TRD Aurion Owner - That is a fairly decent price. With the exchange rate at the moment, it works out well. It will pay itself off in no time.

I'm highly disappointed in myself, but I won't be able to make it out this Saturday night. I was really looking forward to it all, and now I can't make it.
-
As am I. Had one on my old ride and it sounded sweet. I'm trying hard to steer away from it by telling myself that the oiled filter will dirty up the intake, but once others start doing stuff to their car, I don't want to be left behind you know. Im in a weird frame of mind with it...Ill look at it & be all yeah I want to get it then Ill look up more info and be all hmmm maybe, might just get the drop in at the end I end up thinking nah, would be better off with just the drop in. And that cycle repeats at least once a month...... Best solution to that problem... just put the money down and buy it. Usually works for me, doesn't quite help my budget. I have a constant issue with mine in that I will stand there and look at the car (or even sit in it) and spend several minutes analysing everything on and around it, even if I have already done that before. Then I will say to myself, 'what can I do to this car'. This happens at least once a week. On a side note though while on the intake topic, I just had a thought. There will be a couple of things happening with my car over the next few weeks. I'm not going to go into the specifics right now, but for the last month or so after bypassing my intake valve, I've had a vacuum switching valve (which activates at highway speeds) that is no longer in use. I've circled it in red below: So I figured, instead of putting this circuit to waste, I would replace the vaccum valve with a relay and I can activate anything electronic when at highway speed. There is quite some room for design there. I think I've got a plan that may work. I think I'll need to keep it secret though. Edit: Every bit of my exhaust is staying just where it is. After all that effort to change my tips, I'm not going to bother changing my mufflers.

As apg39 said, he was reffering to the direct filter replacement that replaces the woven fibre one. You can check it out here: http://www.knfilters.com/search/product.aspx?Prod=33-2326 As am I.
